I have some Swarovski 10 x 42 ELs and would like to get the Tripod Adapter that the outdoorsmans makes. My only concern is that since the binos have to be slightly modified to attach the adapter stud, that the warranty may be affected. The guy at the store told my that the warranty is still the same but I don't know if he is just trying to make a sale. Any body with the ELs and the outdoorsmans tripod adapter had any experience with warranty work after the adapter was put in? Thanks in advance.

That was pretty good. When the camera showed Taylor Swift it looked like she didn't get it.

DC Outfitters specializes in 27 and uses mules. If you hire an outfitter they'd be your best bet.

Congrats Devin. What is that three, four years in a row you have killed a buck in the first couple hours of the hunt? You need to learn to enjoy the hunt a little more. j/k Looking forward to more pics and a story.

Remington model 700, 257 Roberts stolen back in 2002. Myself, my dad, my uncle, and my aunt all killed our first deer with that rifle along with multiple other animals by many family members. Wish I would have left it loaded for the theif to accidentally shoot themselves.

As others have said the problem you are seeing is common with belted magnums but it usually takes multiple (~4+) firings of the brass for this to occur. How many times has the brass been shot/sized when you see this happening? How far are you pushing the shoulder back when FL sizing? Ideally you are only bumping it 0.002" If you set up the FL sizing die per instructions then you are likely pushing the shoulder back much more and pushing more material than needed towards the belt. I'm thinking you may also have a rough chamber or chamber out of spec adding to the problem caused by the bulge above the belt. Here's some more info to read: http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f28/sticky-brass-119433/

I'm thinking about having a rifle built in the next few months so I am trying to decide what caliber. I currently own a .300 Win Mag, 270 Win and 30-06. The 30-06 was my grandfathers and it has done nothing more than sit in the gunsafe for the last decade+. I'd like to use this gun since it is a family heirloom and I have decided to rechamber. The action is a Remington Model 721. The rifle will be used for varmints, javelina, and possibly coues and mule deer. I have the bigger guns for bigger game. Another primary purpose of the rifle will be for my nephew, neices, and sons to use for thier first big game hunts. Recoil and weight will be concerns for the kids as I'd like them to be able to carry it on hunts. I reload so the less common chamberings are options. My goal will be to be able to shoot long ranges under ideal conditions. Originally I thought the 25-06 was the obvious choice and it still may be but I'm looking for opinions. A good buddy recommended the 6.5mm Creedmore. At first glance it looks like there is a better selection of bullets in 6.5mm than 25 cal. Will likely shoot a Nosler Accubond, Hornady SST, or something of similar construction. Thanks for your input!!

I am aware it will require a new barrel, wrong use of words on my part and am aware of the long action vs short action. The 270 is a model 700 but it has significantly more sentimental value so it will not be used.

Thanks for the input everyone. Maybe I will consider leaving the model 721 as is. To clarify a couple items. The rifle will not be just for kids, it may become my go to coues rifle. The kids won't shoot long range until they have proven they are capable. How will recoil in the different 6.5s compare and how will the recoil compare to 25-06 or 270?

Yes, I plan on using my grandfather's action for the build. I considered keeping as is but feel it's the best way to continue the tradition of the rifle even though it will be a different caliber. Thanks for the input.

Anybody know what the new 15s will cost?

The three way heads that you are talking about tend to weigh more, which is their biggest downfall. With a good tripod it is easy to get the legs leveled.

I have the manfrotto 700rc2 so I can't speak to the exact models you are asking about but after 8 years it is as smooth as it was day 1. It does have separate tension screws for horizontal and vertical but with both loosened you can go in all directions although you really should be glassing in a grid pattern anyways.

I would have your draw length measured and then rechecked by someone else. Improper draw length can make it difficult to get a consistent anchor which is key to accuracy. I see a lot of people with draw lengths that are too long

The house my family lives in is a 40+ year old slump block house with the original single pane windows. My wife and I are wanting to replace the windows and looking for recommendations of some Tucson companies so that we can start getting estimates. Any advice or experiences, stuff to look for or avoid? Thanks!!

Backcountry Navigator is what I use. Lots of awesome features.

Any idea if the current 15s will be further reduced when the new ones come out or is this as low as we can expect to see them?

If I am reading your original post correctly you already have a ranger. Sounds like you have the perfect setup already. Haul your boat or ranger wherever you want with your cummins. Have you looked into the cab enclosures for the ranger? Maybe someone here can provide some feedback on how well they work.

It's that time of year. It's hot, draw results are already out, and we are all going crazy waiting for hunting season to start!
-
I have an old model 721 in 30-06 as well. Is the bulge in the barrel just past the recoil lug a standard on those models?
-
And when you call you have to actually talk to someone (press 5 if I remember). The automated results are the ones from the draw, not the leftovers. I sent mine in Friday morning but must not have been on the top of the pile because I got my second choice.

Call them, the only way to know for sure.
