It's not looking good for youth Turkey hunts that start tomorrow. Anyone have any intel on whether the Coconino Forest Service is even trying to get their roads open for the turkey hunts that start on 04/28? I tried calling the Mollogon office and their recording basically says "yes the roads are still closed" leave a message for any other questions you might have.

Problem is they are sometimes a little slow by a day or two to update that. For example, if they were to open some today, you might not know till Monday. Happened in 2019.

taking first time hunter and rifle shooter out for general javelina this spring, and am considering which load I should put her behind. have, 55 gr Sierra's, 65 gr Sierra's and 95 gr Nosler Partions loaded up all shooting 1 MOA, the 55's are even better at about .5 MOA. I am thinking for a first time hunter the 55 sierra might do more damage for an ill placed shot, and is my flattest shooter so no hold over would be necessary at < 250yrds. Where as the 95 nosler would punch in an out allowing for less damage, and I might have to work on some hold over training. The 65's would be same expansion properties as the 55's just not as flat, but might put more lead into the equation. which load would you pull out of the ammo box for practice all the way to game day?

I'm in Surprise. I can measure them later today. -
I'd be willing to bet they get the 300 open by Friday. The Coconino site is usually delayed. I think they work on opening them all day and report back to the office in the afternoon for updates. However, I have seen that side of the highway closed for youth hunt openers, but by saturday afternoon they had them open.

well they finally sold it to me with manager approval, but the girl kept saying G&F sent an email to not sell them till 01/01/2019. i had to go through this same thing last year.

Cal-Ranch in Goodyear tried to tell me they could not sell me a 2018 deer tag till January 1, 2018 because the booklet cover says "January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018" on the front. I argued with the girl that was only the valid dates and says nothing about when they can issue them. She called manager and he said sure we can sell them now.... She then explains that I can't use it till January 1, I said yes I already argued with you about that LOL

I know it helped get some bulls to commit on my last 2 hunts. Cows too! Using it solo is a challenge, I made mine so I could strap it to a sapling 30 yards behind me. Just another tool in the box.
