Late Rifle Bull Hunters...Almost Time. Check in!

Went scouting by myself for the day, and managed to spot four bulls including these two 6x's. One was ok, but the other was huge....at least by my standards....ha. Just hope they are still hanging around come December 5th. Good luck to all.

Late Rifle Bull Hunters...Almost Time. Check in!

My son and I have the December hunt in unit 22N and can't wait. We are pretty familiar with the unit, which is a good thing because our pre-season scouting is very limited. I had an open day about 2 weeks ago and headed up to our usual area and ended up glassing this 6x6 at 400 yards. Plan on two more days of scouting to see what else may be roaming around. Good luck to all, and let's hope for snow!

    GPS Marking System

I just returned from a successful December bull hunt in 22N where we filled two tags with a 4x5 and a 5x5. We use all the right tools, including Swarovski binoculars, rangefinders, GPS, etc... The problem that sometimes occurs is when an animal is taken on the other side of a canyon, the view of the surrounding terrain always changes after the hour long hike to get to where you "thought" the animal went down. This is especially true in the evening hunt. This results in lost time searching, and the potential of loosing the animal all together. My question is if there's an instrument on the market that can be used to mark the exact spot of the kill, and would guide you there via GPS? Basically, you shoot, see where the animal dropped, then "mark" the location of the animal in the instrument and allow it to guide you to the downed animal.

The term "horns" drives me nuts

Is anyone else getting tired of professional hunters using the term "horns" on a deer. I'm sitting here watching a channel called Whitetail Revolution (great footage) and they keep refering to a Texas whitetail's ANTLERS as "horns". These are professionals......don't they know the difference?????

Unit 22 North late season elk question

My son and I both drew for 22 North late (December 4th) hunt and are looking for some general pointers as to where to hunt. We both a have experience in whitetail hunting and are equiped with Swarvo Binoccs, tripods, exc... as well as as well equiped jeep and 4x4 Polaris to get us where we want to go. That being said, we are staying in a cabin the entire week located in Whispering Pines which is pretty much in the middle of the unit and will be scouting areas to hunt starting this weekend. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on where to start? Thanks!
