    The Claw

Cade: I got the Claw, the 458B Manfrotto and the 721 HDV fluid head. Waiting for a buddy to do a "slight" modification to the Claw and we'll set 'er up and give it a try. I have a question though. I saw the camo tape on the legs of the tri-pod. Do you have would have any issues with just painting the legs, rather than using tape? Guys, as a guide, in the past I've had situations where folks just couldn't see the critter, couldn't find it when it started walking, had a tough time shooting off hand over brush, etc. I decided to offer this system this year on our hunts to any of our hunters who want to use it. I'm going to use it on my Sept. muzzleloader elk hunt in Unit 6A and on my New Mexico Oryx hunt. I have no problem with giving you all a report (thumbs up or thumbs down) on how all this works after all the hunts are in the books. Yes, it is a lot of money for this set up. But when you got a lot of money invested in high quality optics, firearms, bows and arrows, vehicles, etc. I find it hard NOT to invest something that may be the difference between a solid hit or a questionable one. I have done hunts in the past for the Arizona Hunt of A Lifetime (and hope to do more in the future!) and I can assure you that this kind of shooting aid will be of great help with SOME of the kids who do have limitations. Again, I'll let you all know. Don Martin Arizona Wildlife Outfitters

  4. The Mohave Sportsman Club is once again holding its annual coyote suppression hunt in northern Arizona on March 6-7. Its called Antelope Eaters XXI and this year we need a lot of sportsmen help to put a dent into the population of coyotes in prime antelope, deer and elk country. You can help by joining with us on this two day, pick your own team hunt. Cost is $50 for a two person team, $75 for a three person team. Shotgun start on Saturday and you must check in by 9 p.m. on Saturday night in the parking lot of the black Cat Bar in Seligman. Just by checking in we'll give you a red ticket. Bring in a coyote and we'll give you another ticket. At 9 p.m. we'll start drawing tickets out of the hat and if your ticket is drawn, you get a crisp $50 bill. We'll do the same thing at 2 p.m. on Sunday. After the last drawing is held, then we'll do our raffle. We have prizes ranging from a videos, mouth calls, shorts, hats and memberships to conservation groups to what we call our super prizes. The MSC BOD is sponsoring a Savage Model 16FSS rifle, in your choice of non-magnum caliber, while the Arizona Bowhunters Assocaition has donated a new PSE AXE bow. We also have a Fox Pro FX-3 caller, and a Primos chair, perfect for use while varmint, big game or other hunting. Costs of the tickets is just $5 each or five for $20. They will be for sale at the check in site. Look for the folks in the lime-green vests. This hunt is a lot of fun, meet other sportsmen who are helping at no cost to the state's taxpayers, help give antelope and deer fawns and elk calves, a chance to make it into adulthood. If you have any questions, give me a call at 928-681-4867 or e-mail me at awoguide@ctaz.com and I'll e-mail you a flyer. Thanks and see you at the hunt! If you know a friend who would like a flyer, please pass this along to them. Good luck and good hunting! Don Martin Hunt Chairman Antelope Eaters XXI
