azcouesfanatic replied to Jay Scott's topic in Jay Scott Outdoors/Colburn and Scott Outfitters
Thanks everyone for all the great posts. I would not change anything about this hunt. The ability to share this with my family and friends was awesome. There were emotions shared on the mountain that I could never put into words. This was truly a once and a lifetime adventure. Thank you. -
Well it was truly the most epic experience of my entire life. The memories made on this hunt will never be forgotten. I can honestly say words can not express the emotions shared on the mountain. Being able to have my wife, father, and friends present was priceless. I will post many pictures and videos when I get home. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Well its finally here. I leave in the morning to begin the most epic journey of my hunting career. I will be headed to 6A in hopes of harvesting a giant Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep with my bow. The first two hunters killed two tremendous rams both scoring over 180"'s. I can only hope to have such good fortune. I have spent 13 days scouting and I have seen well over 100 hundred sheep. By opening day I will have spent 18 days scouting and 12 or 13 of those were solo trips. I have met some amazing people along the way and I can't wait to share this hunt with some of my closest friends and family. I received numerous tips and photos from multiple CWT'ers and I appreciate all of their help. Once I return I will post some pics and video of my scouting and hunting trip. If you want hunt updates check out Jay Scott's posts under the Sponsers Section. It has been a truly amazing ride and I feel so fortunate to even have this chance. The sheep in 6A are a true success story that was created by the AZGFD and some outstanding people that work there. These sheep were transplanted in 2005. There were initially 65 sheep and today that number has easily doubled and possibly tripled. In a few weeks I hope to be posting a picture of a giant AZ Ram. I would like to thank my wife for putting up with my sheep insanity. It started the day I found out I drew a sheep tag and it has only gotten worse with each passing day. Babe, I appreciate all your support and patience in dealing with my sheep insanity. Just think it will only last a few more weeks!!!! Wish me luck!!! Brian

Well its official I drew the second tag for the second hunt in 6A/22N. I am really excited. I will be doing this with a bow so if any of you have info and are willing to share it would be appreciated. I will keep you posted with scouting pictures and hopefully a harvest photo. I still can't believe it. Thank you AZGFD.

The Buck I Never Dreamed Of
azcouesfanatic replied to tsquare602's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
What an amazing buck. This is why we all hunt for a chance at an animal like your buck. It just so happened that your time came on one of your first attempts. Great Job!!!! -

If you shot or you know someone who shot and lost a good bull on the West side of Unit 1 let me know. The bull was killed several days ago and it is a very nice bull. If you can tell me what part of the unit you shot it and what it looks like I will tell you where to go find it.

Thanks again for all the positive comments. This was truly a great story and I am proud of everyone who was a part of it. There may be those who do buy a bow after there drawn and shoot a few arrows and then go hunting but I believe the majority of hunters are ethical and work hard to make the best shot possible. I shoot more than most and I do everything in my power to make a perfect shot but sometimes it just does not work. Hunting is not done in a static environment so things change rapidly. As sportsman it is our job to educate and help those who may not have been lucky enough to grow up in a hunting family and learn from fathers, uncles, or family members who had been hunting for years and years. After all we share the same passion!!!! Without the passion we share hunting will not survive. So next time your out hunting our at an sporting goods shop and you talk to someone who is obviously new to hunting take a minute and talk with them. I would like to think that over the years I have been able to pass on what I was fortunate enough to learn from my father and friends to some of my friends who were new to hunting. I do think there are things that game and fish can do to help but this is not solely a game and fish problem!!! Trent, I am glad we (Matt/Nathan) were able to help you put your tag on a great bull. Congratulations!!!!!
