Wow, that is truly incredible. Congrats Jeremy. Brian -
Well, My personal opinion is there is an influx of lions in 36C. The unit borders the reservation on one side and Mexico on the other. In rougly twenty years of hunting down there I have seen two lion hunters in the unit. I don't run lions myself but the risk of losing a dog on the reservation or in mexico is not worth a great hound dog. I have personally glassed up 8 lions in 36C and for us to see 6 in 3 days is crazy. Oh yeah, there was lead in the air trust me on that. We wanted to kill the lions but things just did not work out for us. Somthing that I find interesting is when game and fish makes the hunt recommendations do they account for the amount of lions in a unit. I would definately say the quality and numbers have gone way down in 36C, but 36C still has 125 December tags along with three hunts before that, crazy. I have killed one good lion in 36C in 2007. Well, I am a little late posting this but I figured with the Mexico deer season right around the corner I would post it. Last year we made our annual trek down to Mexico to hunt Coues deer. This has been a family affair for nearly five years now. We have had some great trips and killed some really nice bucks. This trip was no different. We had a great time and managed to kill a couple nice bucks but no giants. I was able to get a couple of the kills on video and I finally got around to putting the video together. Hope you enjoy. Ok, so a good friend of mine managed to kill a giant buck on the early November hunt. The buck scored 116 4/8 and it was truly a pig. This morning he was taking the deer skull to a friend to have a European done on it. He put the skull in the bed of his truck on top of his hunting pack and headed out. He nearly got to where he was going when he looked in his rear view mirror and his tailgate had somehow come down. He looked in the bed and his deer was gone. He called me around 9am and told me what happened. He walked the stretch of road all day trying to find his buck. He logged nearly 20 miles and found nothing. At 4pm he finally decided he needed to go home. He was angry at himself and exhuasted. This was truly a giant buck. I spoke to him on the phone just before he arrived home and five minutes after we hung up he called me back. To his amazement his deer was fully intact sitting on his door step. He could not believe his eyes. There was no note or anything and the buck was sitting there like a Christmas present under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. As he was inspecting his buck and breathing a sigh of relief his phone rang and it was the guy who found the deer. The guys son found the deer lying in the middle of the road and picked it up. The deer still had the tag on it so he had his dad drop it off. It is really nice to know there are still honest people in this world. I would like to say thank you to the stranger who returned my buddies deer. Brian

This is old news. If you are not participating in this system for your kids that is your choice but I think your crazy. If you have the opportunity to provide a great hunt for your kids than why in the world would you not take that opportunity. Just because the opportunity was not available to you when you were younger does not mean you should not take advantage of it for your kids. It is legal and there is nothing wrong with any parent or grandparent signing a tag over to their child or grandchild. Brian
