School me on socks, liners, insoles, wax, etc..

I purchased the Meindl's from Cabelas and after walking around a bit more at home in them I took them back. I'm very hard on boots and would typically go thru 1-2 pairs of Danners every year and hoped the Meindl's would last longer for me. They were very comfortable and seemed like they would be perfect but what I noticed later was that the metal lace loops would bind and dig into the top of my foot. This would only happen if I were hiking up a steep incline or when kneeling down. It may have been just the way my foot is shaped or the placement of those loops, i dont know for sure. Lots of folks love those boots tho! When you try them on, bend your foot to similate walking up a steep hill on your toes, make sure those lace loops don't bend downward onto the top of your foot. Best of luck! JIM> P.S. I ended up going with the Kenetrek's and although they are now ready to be retired, they lasted me just over a year which is really good for me! Thanks Jim Ill make sure I check that out.

I don't have any reccomendations on stocks, but you can free float the barrel on what ever new stock you get. Might as well get it bedded while your at it.

    Hunting mistakes and misses

When I was about 17 me and dad were archery hunting unit 32 in Jan. I was sitting on the side of a small saddle glassing for deer. I decide to hike a couple hundred yards to a new vantage point. As soon as I do l look back in the saddle and see a coues doe followed by a spike. The little buck starts trying to breed with the doe when a HUGE buck that was about "hundred oh my gosh inches", runs him off and takes care of business with the doe. If only I would of stayed in that sadlle another 20 minuets I might of had a chance at him. To this day it is still the biggest buck I have seen on the hoof. On that same trip I missed a 20 yard shot a nice 4 point muley. I glassed him up and he ended up walking right passed me, I got so excited I don't think I even looked at my sight pins when I shot. That one still hurts too. That was 12 years ago and I have made a bunch more mistakes since, but that's what keeps it interesting.

Tonto Lake White Mtn Apache Rez

I have so many good memories of that lake. My dad used to take me there as a kid when non-tribal members were still allowed on weekends. I love that place! Wish I could take my kids. Good Luck! Take lots of pictures.

Catching a camera thief on camera

well if you have multiple photos of the same people over 10 minutes starring into your cam i would say he's trying to steal it!! He does??? Then why is just one photo posted that does NOT show anything other a guy looking at it....three posts by a guy and you take his word with one photo??? Is this still America???? doesn't somebody have to be PROVEN guilty? If there are more pictures I will recant....I know my ugly mug has been caught on camera more than once just walking by...and I would sure hate to be accused that I stole something just by a SINGLE picture of me walking by or looking into a camera. I was thinking the same thing...Lets see some more "proof"

    25-06 first centerfire rifle?

I have a 7 year old and I have been giving this a lot of thought lately. I was planning on the .243 but I let my boy shoot a .250 savage at the range the other day and that's the plan now. Very little recoil and a very efficient cartridge. We are going to find an old savage rifle and rebarrel it. Should be a fun build and something we can do together. Just something else to think about.

    Coues and Dove

Well last week I traded my Oct rifle tag for an archery buck. I may of been able to tag a bigger one if I had been more patient, but I just could not fight the urge. He ran about 50 yards and expired. Broadhead was a 100 gr. muzzy It was 20 yard shot from my Mathews SQ2 out of a blind. He provided me with some of the most delicious back strap steaks I have ever had. This buck and a smaller one came in about 45 minutes before and stood behind a tree at 30 yards. He never gave me a clear shot though. Since I no longer have a deer tag to fill I was able to spend some time dove hunting this afternoon. After school got out me and the boys and a buddy went and tried to get a limit. We fought the rain and wind and my bad shooting and ended up with a few before giving up. We had a blast. My buddy Aaron's Dog. I think he was wishing we could hit something. We got just enough for another good dinner

    Coues and Dove

I soak them in milk for about 30 min, then batter them in cornmeal and flour with a garlic salt mixture and a little cayenne pepper.
