I have never really chased after turkey. Some people say that after you shoot one with a bow to chase it down, others say to sit still. Which do you do and why?

What a toad!!! Nice -
The first pic is of my one and only coues. He is not hanging anywhere. He is still a trophy to me. The 2nd pic is of my one and only elk. She was taken in the December hunt on the 4th day of the hunt. It was hard; but we got her. To me the trophy is not the elk but what is behind it. Me and my dad. The last pic is of the mullie I took this past January. He is my biggest buck to date. Good luck in the field, take a family member or a friend.

I went up to 23 on Thursday. Here are some pics of the snow. Can you find the grey ghosts? I will point them out in a few days. Just another reminder, I will be going to Yuma on Thursday morning and will be back in Mesa that night. If anyone needs a transport from here to there and back send me a pm. James

I went up to 23 to check my trail cam today. I got a nice muley buck on camera . On the way to my spot I see a squirrel I want for my crock pot. I'm getting ready to take it when I see a dog trotting down the road toward me. It looked kinda of funny to me... I hide behind a small bush and take a picture. She stops and starts looking my way and starts to take off down the hill. I make some mouse squeeks with my mouth and she is at a dead run right at me...At about 10 yards I stand up and she splits down the hill; but not before I take a profile view...She got my blood pumping... What do you guys and gals think? I know she is not a domestic dog. I think she is a wolf or wolf hybrid.

Anyone know how much snow is on the ground from Board Tree Saddle on down to the lake? I just need to go get my trrail camera, and the only time I can go is when the sun is down.

I hunt the OTC archery season in 2 units. I have never been shown around any others. Might ask a friend if I can tag along on his application this year. I have brought some "experienced" hunters along with me before and was scared the hole time . Just didn’t like their ethics ...Hey If anyone wants to take a stranger on a hunt this year send me a PM. I'm always willing to learn new tricks and new spots ...

I'm thinking of trying a new unit closer to home. I'm in mesa and I hunt 23. I'm thinking of trying unit 22 this year. Somewhere NorthWest of Rye. Any suggestions. I'm ont looking for your exact spots, just areas to start looking. I know there are some whitetail on Mt.Ord; but that hill gets hit hard every year. Any suggestions will be great. Thanks. JamesT

I'm headed to Yuma and back. Need a transport?

Ernesto, whats up man, how ya been. Ernesto and I both took the Hunter Education INSTRUCTORS course and became Instructures for the Game and Fish in Yuma in 2003 I believe. We taught about 3-4 classes together... He took me on my first Coyote hunt beind Mittry lake. We set up on a hill before sunrise, he is screaming on his mouth call. I'm about 20yards infront of him... After about 2 minutes Ernesto is screaming James James help help... I turn around and see him poking a fox with the barrel of his rifle. its attacking his boot. I'm scared out of my mind (first hunt for things that bite) I yell KICK IT!!! and he does. It runs about 20 yards away and turns and looks at him. BANG I took it out with his .222. He was an old fox. His teeth were worn down to nubs... It is a small world... We will be catching up a week from Thursday Ernesto... I will call you tonight... -

collared dove
bowhuntaz1 replied to azhuntnut's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I asked the game and fish in Yuma about them in 2002. They said that a pet store guy in Florida let about 50 of them go in the 70's. They breed about 4-6 times a year with about 3-5 chicks. the babies once grown will fly about 50 miles and make it their home. They (game and fish) dont want them here. Thats why there is no limit on them...They sure do taste good...
