Not to be the guy in the room that the hot girl goes home with( I hate that guy)! But Remington was really gracious and awesome to me. I got a 300 rum xcr 700 two and a half years ago for my 17th birthday (less then 200 rounds through it) .My bolt locking lug that travels the outside of the receiver looks like crap and is being compromised. I call remington tell them my situation and also tell them i dont have my reciept anymore from sportsmans because my parents are moving to texas and was packed up. They send me a ups code to ship it to them their cost and now my rifle is on its way back at their cost. Sorry about the 17 hmr bro i bet it was badass and a fun little round to shoot.

Muzzle Breaks are a huge benefit to increasing accuracy and reducing the kick of the rifle. Ear plugs are required when practicing and dialing it in, but when are you not at the range with ear plugs anyway? Has anyone gone to a range without earplugs? Not a very smart idea. When it comes to hunting with a muzzle break you dont hear or feel the first shot (with the use of ear plugs or not) of the rifle your adrenaline is so pumped up and running through your veins you dont realize what happen. Im not sure about a follow up shot without a muzzle break because ive only had to shoot once at the two bucks ive taken. For what their purpose is they work great. Thats my two cents. T. Regan

You sir are very in sync with whats going on in Arizona. Lions are not a huge problem until lack of water becomes apparent from border to border. Then the lions can really take a toll on the game animals that live in the dryer part of the state. Why do you think you see more game in New Mexico then you do Arizona in nearly every biozone? because they receive more annual precipitiation.

Jump up to the 300 ultra, everyone who has one has never docked it or disregarded having one. Yeah their superior to most almost all the other cartridges except some weatherby's and its extremely versatile in the christensen rifles. With the ultras speaking just for the 7mm and 300 they take out alot of variables such as drop and distance and the power at those distances to break a shoulder bone and knock em down. It's really a great setup with a muzzle break and a high power scope with a 50mm objective. You want to save up at least for a nikon or higher such as zeiss or swaro with that rifle. If you want a nice set-up long distance rifle then no question get an ultra. If you have any questions pm me and ur in tucson so sportsmans is right there

I would get the ultramag hands down. Its alot faster and flatter then the other 300 mags and its worth every penny. With the price range you have definetly stick to the model 700's. I have a model 700 cdl with a muzzle break and it kicks like a 270 and your range will increase dramatically compared to what standard cartridges can do beyond 300 yards even. Youll have a 300 yard zero with the right load. My only suggestion would to throw a nikon 50mm with at least 14x with that rifle so you can be looking close to what that rifles potential is.

Hey everybody thanks for all the help in questions concerning coues and rifles and all the stuff in between. Im just now posting this story from our hunt down south during the month of December. My father and I had left for 30a saturday morning after packing the whole week before. We got in late to Douglas and decided to sleep in the gooseneck, being in that the area we were going is very dangerous with UDA's and that whole issue especially at night all you S. of I10 hunters know what talking about. We headed out the next morning to camp and set up quick enough for the evening hunt. Getting out in the field we spotted a couple does surprisingly and a lot of mule deer which seems to be the case in most hunts you see what your not hunting. The next two days with my dad were calm lots of does but no bucks. Tuesday night came around and our good friend Mike Norris showed up to lend a helping hand and it was a huge blessing to have another set of eyes tearing the country apart. The next day we hiked about 2 miles in and were glassing the mountain we had spotted deer on about 5 in the morning and once again 5 coues no bucks and at about 2 miles away. We hiked back to camp and got in about 2 o clock worn out and a little disappointed. We gear back up and decide to stay a little closer to camp and me and my dad are glassing this v shaped draw and a ridge adjacent to it and Mr Norris was above us glassing the bowl above. Eight minutes before the sun went down Dad spotted a buck then quickly lost him. We spotted a doe 20 yards away and then another deer in-between a sentry plant and a oak tree and dad had said i think thats the buck then he turned his head toward us and his horns lit up like the fourth of july with that last little bit of sunlight. Dad ranged him and he was 454 yards away and i got in the glass ready for my dad to take the shot and i took one look at him and i was like dad, "Can i take the shot i really want him dad." Then my dad said 'yes son you can take the first shot." We had never got drawn before this hunt and neither of us had ever shot a big game animal. I put the cross hairs two feet above his back and pulled the trigger. Then right after dad shot too. We were pretty sure one of us hit him! By the time we climbed the hill and met back up with Mike the sun was down and we were looking for him in the dark. We looked for over 30 minutes in the dark. With no blood trail and no sight of the buck we headed back to camp to cook some carne asada burritos. I was really bummed and wasnt feeling to good and thought how could i miss my first buck and feeling like a failure i did what moma always told me and flipped open my bible and i read Joshua 3:5 "Joshua told the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you." In my mind i was like sweet were going to shoot another buck! Next morning the hunters from douglas that were helping us look the night before came down the ridge we had shot my buck on the night before. They shouted across the canyon at us hey we found your buck he was in this bush. Next scene Mike and Dad are running up the hill and i run back to camp to grab the camera. It was an amazing trip and a hunt of a lifetime. Heres some pics.

Mesa Police Would Like Your Help
reganranch replied to DesertDiesel's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Yeah those guys have the short man syndrome already and cmon stealing from Sportsmans thats not right. I want to see those tough guys try to steal something from Scottsdale Gun Club during office hours guarantee they'd hit the ground before they reached the door. -
Go with 7mm Ultra Mag or a personal favorite the 300 Remington Ultra Mag!
-
Dad bought me a model 700 XCR 300 Ultra mag for my 17th bday this summer and i love it its a great caliber flat shooting and has 3000+fps depending on the load you shoot. We blew up a couple of 5 gallon buckets 800 yards out with it and its a great caliber by remington!

I recently put on a Nikon Monarch 6-24x50mm on my 300 ultra mag, and i love it can see places you shouldnt be looking ha and its great glass for the money before you get up into the higher price range like swarovski and zeiss. -
