Would love to go and help, but I will be in Oklahoma that weekend. Mark will not be able to do anything either as he is having surgery next week and will be down for a couple of weeks, then restricted for about 1-2 months. Will be there in spirit!! -

Super Bowl party/get-together???
Mrs125coues replied to 125coues's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
OK now that the dust has settled a bit, let me see if I can get any takers on a party....I am going to have some shredded BBQ Elk for sliders, BBQ cocktail weinnes, fresh made chips, cheese dip, salsa, and Mark will want to grill something...Brats etc.. We will have some beer, Hurricanes, margaritas and some really good Apple Pie Moonshine! I know most people's teams did not make it, but what the heck...good food, good drink and good people, what more could you ask for. I would like to see how many people can make it, so that I have enough food to go around. Directions to our place is pretty easy address is 5298 E 10th Ave, Apache Junction 85119 from the valley you take US 60 east to Mountain View Dr, it is just before you get to Gold Canyon. There is a light there to turn left at(going north) Take Mountain View about 1.5 miles north of 60 to 10th Ave. make a right-going east, we will be about the 6th house on the left(north side of street) you will pass through a paved wash and we are the first house on the left. Hope to see ya there!! -
We either grind it up and make sausage with it or Crock pot it into shredded BBQ or with Green chili's for burro's and taco's.

cooks.com is one of my favorite web-site's to get new ideas from. We make all of our sausages from scratch, and like you said in your post, I add extras. I sometime will add Lawreys marinades to give it moisture and a little extra flavor.

That is so totaly amazing!!! Congrats on your success. That too is one hunt still on my list! GO LADIES!!!

Well since my husband and I did not get drawn for anything this year, we decided to take a full week of vacation to archery hunt deer and turkey. We stayed at our friend home in Williams and were going to be hunting in unit 8. We had decided to try out a new water hole and hoped that we would see some Coues. After 2 and 1/2 days of nothing we pulled up our blind and took down the tree stand and headed to a water hole that we knew had turkey's coming to, deciding that we were going to be hunting turkeys and not deer. Well the turkeys were winning and we had reached Friday morning and I decided that I was going to beat the turkeys today. Well much to my surprise and my husbands as well at 7:50 a small 3X3 muley showed up and Mark radio me to shoot the deer, so as I leaned down to get my bow and looked back up I saw the deer that I was going to shoot, a big 4X4 showed up just behind the 3x3. I started getting excited and nervous, the bucks went to water and the smaller one was between me and the 4X4. I readied myself for the smaller one to step back so I could take the shot on the 4x4, seemed like an eternity. I was trying to stay calm and then it happened, the small one steped back and I let my arrow fly. I watched the deer jump over some logs and saw that I had a full pass thru shot, but that it looked back and high I watched my deer stand there and then walk off with the other deer. Mark had me sit and wait for 2 1/2 hours before we went and looked for my arrow, while waiting we had some other hunters show up that we had met on an elk hunt a few yrs ago. They waited with us and told stories to keep me from thinking about my deer, finally I said ok I gotta go look for my arrow and trail. Well we found my arrow and some blood, confirming my fear of a not so great shot. We decided to push on looking for the deer in hopes of spooking him up and finding him. Well thanks to my wonderful husband he did find my deer, still alive!! he jumped him up, but he only went about 10 feet and went down again, I saw the deer bobbing his head. Well we talked with the guys with us and decided that Mark and I would circle around the deer and try to finish him off. We started back and could not see him!!! Oh what was going on, I thought. Well we procceded around and then Mark yelled out there he is. I was so blessed that my husband was there to help me, and I want to thank Jim McCain and Ronnie for hanging out and helping Mark get my deer out. So here are some pictures of my Deer.

And if you had a Cow Tag, she would have bolted the second she heard that door open. They love to taunt us when it is not hunting season or if we dont have a tag!! -
Nice, Congrats to the Lady Hunter!!!!

Thanks everyone for the nice, kind words. I can not express how exciting it was to get that buck, I know a lot of people here have experienced the same. Actually, I get excited no matter what kind of animal I harvest, but what a bonus I got this season.
