WTB - panning tension knob for Jim White pan head

You might send a PM to Amanda and see if she has any parts available. I think you might have some luck getting something very similar from McMaster Carr. Here's two ideas.... https://www.mcmaster.com/#thumb-screws/=15g92f2 or https://www.mcmaster.com/#nylon-tipped-socket-head-cap-screws/=15g93nd Good luck.

    ISO Takeoff stocks

I have a Remington 700 plastic stock. Long Action, detachable box magazine.
  15. Has anoyone developed a load for the .270 win using this powder? I have two pounds of this stuff and I am beginning to wonder what cartredges I will actually be able to use it in. I am trying to create a load for using the 140gr Hornady SST bullet. Any info would be appreciated.
  16. Jeep Wrangler (1997 and newer) or Grand Cherokee(1996-2004) would be my choices. These can be found in very good condition for $6k or less. I've been in plenty of side by sides. I don't like the noise or the dust. Limited use, and getting more so every day. Most of unit 10 won't allow for the side by sides. Jeeps as described above are cheap to put a little lift on. Sway bar disconnects for the real twisty stuff and you are golden. Nice to have heat, a/c, radio etc. Also nice not having to trailer them most of the way there to use them. There's my 2 cents. PM if you want more info. Glad to share my learnings.

    Ideas on a quad...

If you are in the market for a side by side, then you need to seriously take a look at the cost for what you get. For what those things cost you can by a 1997 or newer Jeep. It has coil springs and rides as good or better than all of the SxS I have been in. Plus the Jeep has a heater, and air conditioning. If you need the dust to cover you then you can just take the top off! LOL Another plus of the jeep is that you don't have to worry about the OHV stickers, and helmet requirements etc.No need for a truck and trailer to haul either, you can get in it drive it hunting, and then drive it home on cruise control. I must agree, however, if one wishes to to travel the roads (mostly all closed now) on Anderson Mesa, a old school quad is the ticket. That is unless you are able to afford a unlimited Class Buggy capable of enduring the Baja 1000 race. Anderson Mesa is the most miserable country to cover in a vehicle.

    Weatherby Ultra Lightweight thoughts

I have an ultra light. It is a 25-06. I love that rifle!!! It is light comfortable to carry and it will touch holes at 100yds. It has a crisp trigger (3.5lbs) with no creep. I am not sure I would wnat one in a big magnum. This one will be with me on may hunts to come.
  20. I have some input on the quarter bore. I have to respectfully disagree with Mr. Quimby. I shoot the 115 Nosler Ballistic tips. I use 52gr H4831SC and a Magnum Primer. Very accurate loads- - - touching holes at 100 yards. I have shot an Antelope, a Kaibab Muley and a Mid-Western Whitetail with the ballistic tips and they have performed flawlessly. No significant meat loss. I didn't hit them in the shoulders though. I imagine that the fragmentation would be greater in a shoulder or hind quarter. I hope to continue my testing this year on an AZ coues! My results so far were best described as delicious! My best suggestion is to hunt a whole bunch, fill every tag you get and report the results to further this science experiment! Good luck!

    Dodge truck steering problems

A few thoughts....... #1 Check for open Recalls on the truck issued by Chrysler. #2 Are your tires load range "E"? (extremely important with the diesel) #3 Check Ball joints. Don't mess with the camber/caster. Leave it stock. The leveling kit does not affect this either. #4 Get a very accurate allignment done.

    Restored a little faith

Thanks for sharing the story and pix. What a beautiful ram! Good to hear something positive about an outfitter/guide when so often you hear about them trampeling our sport for their paycheck.

    Bino Harnesses

I got the Badlands Bino harness. Took it on the Antelope hunt this year. 10x42 SLCs hung on it. NOT a fan. No better than the crooked horn and it's heavier. Thinking of trying the Nimrod after I sell the badlands.

    AZ Desert Bighorn (VIDEO)

Ok.........So no matter what that ram scores, he is really beautiful. Too bad that side is broomed off. If both sides were the same as the longer one.....WOW! I get pretty revved up about sheep, mostly because I think I will never draw a tag in this my native state. Super fun to watch them blast open a catcus and chomp away. I am going to throw out that it is a 7 or 8 year old ram. I would guess it to be bigger than 165" but not greater than 175". Anyone have another opinion? I always want to get better at field judging these critters. Awesome video! Do you mind sharing the equipment you were using to get that footage? How about the approximante distance? Thanks for posting the video.

    Unit 10 Wind Farm

Anyone up for mounting a campaign to take away the Perrin Ranch's use of state trust land? If this is the way we (the owners of the state trust land) are going to be treated, perhaps we should ask this guest (Perrin Ranch/ McCalley family) to make their fortunes on their own land and stop borrowing our land! This respect for the landowner thing that AZGFD keeps harping on goes BOTH WAYS! If they were truly interested in protecting the wind farm area, their solution is simple. The wind farm is being built on private land. The owner of the private land can legally prevent hunting and trespassing by properly posting the boundaries of the PRIVATE land. So in this case take ONE section of land (not 77,000 acres) and spend some of the millions you have from the wind farm contract to properly post it. If the only way the wind farm contractor is going to feel safe is to keep people in 77,000 acres from shooting a gun, I dare say, it's time to find a more coureageous contractor. Anyone else gut sick of their libertys being STOLEN?
