    Outboard Trouble

Some props have a shear key that will break if the prop hits something hard. This is to save the lower end of the motor from damage. Could have been damaged prior to you getting the boat. Can you turn the prop by hand with the motor off and in gear? Does it do the same thing in forward and reverse? You can pull the prop and inspect it. I can recommend a good boat mechanic if you need it.

    Best tripod

I have had several over the years and will stick with my Outdoorsmans. It is light and if you want to make it weigh more to make it more stable, do what I do. Carry a large (empty)Crown Royal bag in your pack, add rocks and hang it from your rig and it makes it much more stable. Not sure why someone would say don't recommend. Must be a personal thing.

    Best tripod

+1 I have the Outdoorsmans as well. With the pan attachment and pistol grip it is plenty tall for me while standing.

    Beer Can Chicken.

One of my favorites is Tequila Butt Chicken. Drink a beer, cut the top out of the can, fill it about 1/2 full of tequila, the juice of 2-3 limes, 1/2 chopped onion, a small bunch of cilantro and an Anaheim pepper (use hotter peppers if you like). Sprinkle some salt and pepper on the outside of the bird, you can also add other seasonings to the liquid in the can. I will plug the neck cavity with a small potato or an onion and pull the skin of the bird over it to help keep all the moisture in the bird. I try to cook with the outside burners only and cook the bird till I get 165’F on the thermometer. Let the bird rest off the heat for several minutes before you cut into it. Very tasty stuff.

  15. Here is the press release. Not good news Mexican authorities to release Mexican wolves in Sonora Sept. 12, 2011 PHOENIX The Arizona Game and Fish Department has been informed that Mexican authorities plan to release five Mexican wolves this month at an undisclosed ranch location in northeastern Sonora, Mexico. While the department does not know the specific date or other details at this time, it has received indications that the wolves being released will be fitted with satellite tracking collars. Game and Fish is currently considering what, if any, impacts this release might have on Arizonas Mexican wolf conservation and stakeholders. The department will continue to monitor activities related to the planned release and inform constituents as information becomes available. Arizona Game and Fish has been actively involved in the multi-partner effort reintroducing Mexican wolves to portions of their historical range in the east-central portion of the state for many years. In 1998, 11 captive-reared Mexican wolves were released into the Blue Range Wolf Recovery Area (BRWRA) in eastern Arizona. The current population was assessed to be around 50 animals during 2011 monitoring. The Mexican wolf is considered endangered in the United States. The Arizona Game and Fish Department prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, or disability in its programs and activities. Best Bang for Your $ Fly Rod

Wal-Mart used to sell an Orvis 9 foot 2 peice 6 wieght rod with reel, backing, and floating line for less than $100.00 I bought one for my son to see if he really liked to fly fish. Turns out to be a pretty good set up to get you started. I have fished with the rod and it better than I thought it would be. Don't know if they still offer it, but I would have to recommend it to someone wanting to get started on a budget. It is a long way from a Sage, but it will get the job done.

    Prayers Needed

Please keep my mother in your prayers. She suffered a heart attack this morning. She has been suffering with some issues and severe pain for several months, we suspect it was related too her heart all along. The doctors were able to open one of the three arteries that were 100% blocked. They couldn't do anything with the other two today. She is stable but still in ICU. The doctors hope they can clear the other blocked arteries in a few weeks. Thanks in advance, Ken

    Prayers Needed

Thanks for the messages of support. We had a very rough day with some internal bleeding and strange reactions to some medication. Not sure I can say she has improved from yesterday. When I left the hospital tonight, she was finally sleeping and I hope geting some much needed rest that will help with her recovery. Thanks again for your prayers and support, she has a long way to go and needs all the help she can get. Ken.

    foxpro calling sequence

There is no hard and fast rules on what sequence of calls to use. There are times when you want to howl and others when you want to be subdueded and call with soft squeaks. Time and experience in the field will teach you some of this. You wont call in a critter on every stand. You might think about joining one of the predator calling clubs around the valley. Check out PVCI.ORG and google other clubs here in the metro and Mesa area. These are great clubs and a ver good source of informmation.

    Poll: For or Against

I agree with all the reasons stated and wonder whats next? No more elk calls, varmit calls, etc... I know the department has seen poachers kill elk, deer and other critters and leave them lay to come back and hunt bear over and then say, "What bait?. I see this as a very broad brush to try and paint a cure for a very small problem in just a few units. Most "HUNTERS" use corn or mineral licks to keep game in front of a camera to help with scouting, but the "bait" IMO does very little to really help a hunter harvest an animal other than bear. Baiting bear is already illeagal. I see no real gain for the department to make a new rule. Just my $.02
