He has plenty of time to bring up his grades. End of October for deer and end of November for elk. This is a longs way off. Contact the teachers, or go online and find out what he is missing. Make him do the work. He will be passing before you know it. This is my 20th year as an educator - first a teacher, now a counselor. High school is not that hard. My IB and AP kids have alot of work, but it does not take much effort to pass a regular level class. Give your son a chance - tell him to get his grades to passing or no hunts. Like I said, he has plenty of time.

One species should not suffer at the fate of another. Wolves were extinct in Arizona - yes, man had something to do with this. But, the point is, habitat availablity is far different than it was when the wolves ran freely in AZ. To have wolves at the top of the food chain once again, will jeopardize the populations of deer, elk snd antelope. The human population is always trying to undue the past - forget about bringing back what we had and fixing our mistakes, move forward and let's manage our land, wildlife and resources a bit better for the future. I too will take cattle over wolves, as long as the cattle aren't allow to overgraze. It all comes down to proper management.

If the software can be developed to allow us to place our name and email on the letter that would be great. What about using an existing software? Like Petions.moveon.org or Change.org. There are others out there also. I generally get education related petitions from these two sites. Seems like the topics are endless and this may be easy way to generate signatures - if AES can't create something in house.

That's a great bull. Way to go! Many guys wait many years for a chance to harvest a bull that size.

The expansion of the Mexican Wolf is a bad idea. I think is safe to say that most hunters agree. Most of us are not business owners, but hunters are a big group and our individual numbers could add up. How do individuals get added to the letter or get put on some type of petition?

Way to go. Every successful hunt is an accomplishment. Mainly because it does not happen every year!

Hunting small game while a big hunt is in progress?
Sam replied to down2hunt's topic in The Campfire
I do think years ago, it was illegal to hunt small game during a big game hunt. However, now I beleive it is legal. I do not think I would intentially hunt squirrels in a unit while a youth elk hunt is in progress. There are only 6 youth elk hunts. There are far too many other areas to hunt squirrels. But, with that said, if my daughter was lucky enough to get an elk on opening day, we would spend the rest of the weekend looking for some squirrels........a crock pot full of squirrels is awfully hard to beat. -
I am not sure if they will fit a Sportsman. I am pretty sure they will fit a Ranger. The rims are a 4 hole pattern. Each hole is 4.5 inches apart on center from the one next to it. Each hole is 6 and 1/4 inches, on center, diagonally across from the opposite hole. You should measure, just to make sure. Another member has said he would buy them on Wed. I will wait for him to come over. If he decides not to buy them, I will let you both know. Thanks.

Beautiful dog. I have a yellow lab and she is great. You all know that labs love people, especially kids. Once in a while, my lab snaps at little dogs too. But, that is after her tolerance level is maxed out. She usually likes all dogs. I wish I could get another dog, but I just can't.......someone should be jumping on this. I think if it were me, I would be getting rid of the yorkie.

Great picture! 5A was a prime unit up through the 1990's. It is not the same now.

Wish they were my size - been wearing Birks for over 25 years. Good shoe, well built and comfortable.

Eating extra garlic will keep mosquitoes away. Don't laugh, they do not like the smell of garlic. I have done this many times and it has worked. Not sure if animals can smell it, if so, that may be a problem.

Nice looking bear and great story. I'm also glad you mentioned the part about G and F staying open to check the bear in.

They are up! December Whitetail Deer Tag for my wife - she only had 3 bonus points. Turkey for my daughter and I. Plus elk for my daughter and a different elk tag for me. It will be a busy fall. Good luck everyone.

Cardio is a must. But so is weight resistance. Some major muscle group exercises will go a long way in making hunting and scouting trips a whole lot more enjoyable. No reason to isolate specific muscles, unless you have time, 30-45 minutes every other day can cover alot of exercises. Think about what we do on a hunt - set up camp, cut wood, move coolers and water jugs around, dig holes, hike w/packs, drag out deer........

Great experience! All of the pictures are very cool.

Count me in. I can come up with recipes for home and out in the woods. Maybe there can be two sections - home and woods? Lots of great food can come from a dutch oven.....

I have a 3/4 HP, Cabelas grinder. It works great and is a solid machine and easy to clean. Seems to be well made. I imagine their smaller ones are just as good. I know the larger HP are just as good as my friends have the 1HP and 1 and 3/4HP grinders. Worth the money for the 3/4HP.

Recreational ATV users do way more damage than hunters. However, I must say that woodcutters are a close second, maybe even worse. I have seen big trucks in places I would never dream of driving, and it is always close to a juniper tree. I often wonder how many of these guys even have cutting permits.

Drove by the area last night, thinking this is going to be bad with this wind. Got home and saw the news about the 19 young men, nothing could have been worse. Still at a loss of words.......

Nice video - either bull. Prefer the wider one though. But, I would probably miss out on the shot because I wouldn't be able to decide quick enough.
