Just got my new optima v2 going out tomorrow to break myself in. Never fired a muzzleloader before... Really just want to get a feel for it not too concerned about accuracy first time out. Bought the cheapest powerbelts I could find and some 777. Definetly not what I plan to hunt with in December. Fun thread to read lots of really applicable information.

Gonna take the kids this time (5&3) so really looking for a nice muley. Really didn't think I would draw it, but here it is. Wife loves to camp and she grew up on garland prairie she sees deer like no one else. Got tons of vacation time. Gonna spend some time up there in the next couple months should be some fun times!

I drew it tag #8 can't wait just hope I don't freeze... Had the December whitetail tag in 6a about five years ago coulda killed 4x4 or better mulies everyday of that hunt. Hope to get on a good one this year!

I am new to hunting Coues and I have the Dec. hunt in 6A. I am getting ready to hit the hills scouting, and was just curious what I should be looking for in a mature buck. Antlers outside the ears? Any suggestions would help! Thanks

Thanks guys, I'd love to find a giant but getting a mature buck is first on my list. How do the bodies on mature buck differ from the young ones?
