Good idea, sell them before the ban.

I love finding those suckers. I take lots of pics and let em live. I am more afraid of the Hantavirus then some snake. Just sayin.

not sure what adapter you will need, I dont know which Luepolds you have. Jim White would be a good place to start to find out.
-
I heard that they are eyeing .270's also. Keep an eye out, they will be next. It's a slippery slope, my friend!
-
I try to follow the "buy nice or buy twice" rule. I know "nice" means more $ upfront. I've spent more on all the cheap gear in the long run and had it fail at bad times. Just sayin. What type of glassing are you gonna be doing. Standing or sitting? I only sit and glass so I use a shorter tripod. The Slik mini pro combo isnt a bad choice for an entry level tripod if you dont want to stand.

I have used a pair of the Cabela's Elk Hunters, Danner makes them, for 2 seasons and they are holding up great. I do most of my hunting in unit 33 and 37b and only use leather boots. ( cholla is not my friend) I will check out the Meindl's now. You guys have peaked my intrest. How well do the soles hold up to the rocks down in the southern units?

I love my 25-06. Now here comes the however, however I do not use it on elk due to its lack of energy down range. I want to maxamize my odds of dropping an elk with one shot. It is so hard to finally draw a tag nowdays, I dont want to risk losing my elk due to an under powered bullet. Just sayin

I got drawn for Camp Navajo DAV rifle any elk. Congrats to those who got drawn and a big "you'll get'em next time to those who didnt"
-
now if I can just get it to carry my pack for me too! Is there a waiting list to get on?
-
Congrats. Having those future hunters around is the best!

It sounds like me, I live on the phone. Was the truck lifted with black rims and the sticker in the passanger side window?
-
I love my PSE Xforce. Fast, quiet and made here in good ole Az.

doubler for my binos. waste of $ and space in my pack. Spotting scope all the way.

About 8 years ago I went on a Texas Hog hunt with dogs. That was the wildest hunt I have ever been on. Crawling in the thickest rose thorned bushes with dogs and hog snarling to stick a hog with a knife, is a moment I will never forget. Try to find one of those.

I still use my swarovski 15's and went with the Geovids in the 10 power instead. I keep the 10 on my chest for quick glassing and ranging while my swarovskis sit on my tripod. I love the Geovids, however I dont know if I would buy them again. they only have a 5 year warranty. I didnt do my research before I bought them, I would have just bought the 10 power swarovski and a leica crf 1200 rangefinder. Just sayin.

I just hunted it with my son in Oct. It is quite a drive now. We went in on the Catalina side and only went to the top, didn't drive thru. I wouldnt take a stock truck in there, if it was my daily driver. I have a lifted FJ40 that I take. On our way out we came across a destroyed Pathfinder that wasn't there on our way in. Send me a PM with your phone info if you have any questions I could answer in detail.

I think I answered the question well, without a challange anyone's ego. I have a brother-in-law who only owns one rifle (7mm mag) which he hunts everything with. Being on a budget might be the reason some hunters buy a larger caliber rifle. In that popular hunting mag, to get an average of over 200 yards there must have been quite a few long shots to cancel out ALL the Mid West/Eastern tree stand 20 to 40 yard deer. Just sayin.
-
I bought a kit for restringing tent poles from Sportsman Warehouse. It comes with the wire, elastic and new tie rings.
-
Take the one you shoot better. They both are awesome for deer. The 7mag performs better at the longer distances if the recoil isnt an issue.

I have tried a bunch of rounds, and have found that my Tikka t3 loves Winchester Ballistic Silvertips 180gr. I get sub MOA with them. They are not cheap, however IMO they are worth the price.

I killed my mountain lion, or wildcat if you will, with a Browning Abolt 270wsm. Since you have "elk" rifles already, flip a coin.
