I have the Tikka T3 in a 300wsm, and love it. It shoots sub MOA with 18gn Winchester Ballistic Silvertips. Great rifle. Only complaints have been with their customer service, since they are now imported by Beretta. I ordered an extra mag from Beretta and it showed up 13 months later. I had given up and bought one off of Gunbroker. ($60.00 for a plastic mag also ) But it shoots great. I put a Limbsaver butt pad on it too, it kicked something fierce being so light. I dont know much about the Winchester. I have to go sight mine back in, I changed scopes, if you want to shoot one before you drop down the $. Let me know.

Maybe you could get in contact with someone at Matthews and get lighter limbs. I have 2 sets of limbs for my PSE bow.

I think that Game and Fish is very happy with the 10,352 hunters that laid down just $14.50 (almost a roll of quarters and a half) in 2009. That was $150,104.00 that came into the coffers with only 246 lions being taken. Of that 246 only 167 were taken with dogs. It seems to me that if only people going to hunt lions with dogs bought tags then the our Game and fish would lose out on a huge chunk of cash that supports many other programs and species. Being able to have that tag with me and "accidentally" take a lion was the only way I was going to take a lion. I'm not in the position to hire a guide to run the dogs for me. I bet most of the 10k plus hunters that buy lion tags are in the same boat. (I see that lion hunts go for 3 to 5 thousand dollars, does that sound about right?) I always buy my lion tag in January, I view it as a lottery ticket that might win and did win about 5 years ago. (lion not the $) I don't condone road hunting but I can't see that as a valid way to even try to lion hunt, the lions that I have seen crossing the road were gone in less then half a flash. So bringing that up in this debate seemed silly to me. In the words of the great American, Rodney King, "why can't we just all get along"

So for the last "forever" people have asked me "Who will do all the jobs if the illegals leave?" I have answered "The same people who did them before they showed up". Today I was at Taco Bell and noticed all the people working there looked young. I asked the girl at the counter if she went to school, and she told me that she was going to be a Senior this year at my local high school. My uncle told me he has noticed the same at the fast food places he has been going to. I see this as a positive in a few ways. 1. These kids will learn how to work that money doesn't just show up in mom and dad's account. 2. They will value the things they have to WORK for. 3. More money turning in our local economy, and not flowing south. 4. Hopefully they will see how much money they pay in taxes to help all the programs out there for those who are unable or unwilling to work and vote to make things better. I had jobs like these as a kid and so did most of my friends. The day I decided I belonged to the Republican party is the day I picked up my first pay check. 3.35 an hour x 20 hours didnt add up to the total on the check. Just sayin. BTW I took the family to Disney Land last week and was surprised by all the people who told me and my family how much they loved what our Governor has been doing. Most of the comments were from people from California, Oregon and Washington. Just sayin again.

My wife has informed that size doesn't really matter However I will answer your question with a question " if you are hunting javelina in the January archery season, you have a deer tag in your wallet next to your bear and lion tags that you buy ever year, you get a 40 yard shot at a fork coues deer. You have never, ever, ever taken a deer with your bow, do you take it or do you take a picture?" If I am following all the laws governing legal methods of take, and following safe firearm procedures, why would another hunter have a problem with either scenario? Not accidental, but remarkable!

Welcome to the group. Glad you came in out of the cold.

thanks again. +1 lark don't give in to terrorists in any shape or form

thanks for the info. I would like to see how many tags are purchased by "accidental" hunters that go unfilled compared to how many are purchased by "real lion hunters" that go unfilled. I have purchased probably 15 tags for the 1 that i took. I've hunted over dogs for hogs when I went to Texas. I know it is hard work trying to keep up with them. It was fun, but I still would rather have a quite day glassing and stalking. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I believe you. I am one of the people that shot one, however accidental isn't how I would describe it. I bought a tag, knowing there was a high population of lions in the area. I was deer hunting at the time and got lucky. I used knowledge of deer and lions to fill my tags. How is that different from finding a fresh kill, then running dogs till you tree or bay a lion? Both hunting, both legal. With all the anti hunters out there trying to shut us all down we might want to find a way to support each other.

i am always hunting lions, or was always hunting lions before they changed the dates. I don't like the use of dogs but would never come out and say they shouldn't be used. It just isn't my thing. If the state of Az sells me a tag, and I use a legal manner of take, whats the big deal? I would love to see the statistics on how many lions are killed by "hunters" and by houndsmen. Me thinks those numbers will favor the houndsmen.

I just bought a Engel Fridge/freezer with a solar panel to run it for the exact same problem. We bone out the little things, and put them in an ice chest. Now we dont have to rush out to a processor and don't have to worry about ice melting.

The prices are high if he needs to sell them. It reminds me of a friend of mine that when his wife was bugging him to sell his old Ford Bronco. He put a for sale sign in the back window and when he got phone calls would tell them he wanted 15 thousand for it. His wife never knew how much he was asking but knew it was up for sale and quit bugging him. Win win.

I have the Geovids in 10x and I love them. That being said I would never buy them again. Too much money for such a sorry warranty. I carry the swarovski 15x and love them, they fit me well and mount to a tripod quickly and solidly. I do not like Leica's mounting system. On a side note, I cant wait until my Leica 1600 LRF gets in. They say august.

Sorry to have missed all the fun. I will have to plan my vacations better. Is next years already on the calendar? -
I made almost the exact shot with my A bolt 270wsm 4 years ago. 150 gr Ballistic silver tip, zeroed at 300 yards. I held 4 inches over his back and about 5 inches back. Smack, both lungs and heart. It was at 420 with about the same wind. Since then gone to dials, range it, dial it, smack it.

I too feel sorry for you. Theft is theft, even if you are exposing yourself to higher risk. Being honest is like being pregnant, you either are or you are not.
