2 weeks till the rut elk tag and my sons bow gets ran over
cactusjack replied to Adicted's topic in The Campfire
I would have called down to PSE and set up going in and having it fixed. IMO it would be worth the drive. Sorry to see the carnage. Tough lesson to learn at 15yo. -
Suppressors for hunting rifles
cactusjack replied to cactusjack's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I'm shooting tomorrow outside of flagstaff. My daughters have unit33 tags and we are dialing them and the rifles in. I just got my silencerco omega and another harvester. Love them. -

My tikka t3 lite 300wsm is threaded 1/2x28. And I have an adapter from gemtech that but ngs it up to 9/16x24. I have a model 7 threaded to 7/16x28. A little thin but it has been great. -

Do you agree with G&F forcing kids to take Hunter Safety???
cactusjack replied to Big Browns's topic in Youth Hunters
Hearing how important safety is and what effects the lack of safety has had on people, from someone other they their father, is worth it. -
You should shoot them for trespassing

There are many other AR uppers you can get that would be better for the job. 300blackout, 6.8spc, 6x45, 6.8 Grendel, 450 Bushmaster, 458 Socom and 50 Beowulf. The 556/223 is legal.

Do you agree with G&F forcing kids to take Hunter Safety???

I took Nebraska's when I was in the Air Force because a group of kids needed a ride and dads were deployed. Then I took the Az 1 dayfor out of state class aattendees. Then I wanted to bow hunt in Alaska and you have to have taken an archery hunter's safety class so I took it again with my oldest son and 2 of his friends. Then my 3 daughters wanted to hunt. I made the 14 year old take it with her 2 sisters. We took 2 neighbor kids and my nephew with us. Might as well fill up the Suburban. I have 2 foster kids and my youngest son (3), that we adopted, that I will be attending the course with in the future. I think it should be mandatory for everyone. Plus you get a bonus point. -

Ruger 77/44 magnum bolt action rifle for sale
cactusjack replied to Azshooter's topic in Classified Ads
if you decide you do not want to part with it, send it to SRT in Prescott. I have one integrally suppressed with the titanium suppressor on it. With 44spl it is movie quiet. With 44mag its hearing safe, but cracks the sound barrier. I put a Vortex PST 1-4 on it. Can't find picture of it finished. Butt.......Free BTT -

Why haven't hunters banded together? Really? Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Arizona Elk, Az Deer Association, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, ................................. The difference is, instead of signing petitions and beating drums of peace, we sign checks and donate to the cause, and work to rebuild habitat and increase the populations of these game animals. The other non game animals benefit from our work. I am from a family of farmers and ranchers. Horses have been involved in our lives for 4 generations, however if we couldn't feed them or take care of them or they couldn't do the work we had them for, they were gone. Emotions have no place in land/farm/ranch management.

I was up in Unit 1 from Thursday until last night. We must have seen 50 horses. No brands, but lots with young colts. They were in groups of 3 up to 12-15. They do not belong there.

stick it out. You are pot committed to that bad boy. The match barrel and gunsmith tune up is a better option then another factory gun, that will need to be upgraded. I agree with Lance, Big Browns and willhunt4coues. Finish HIM! or sell it to me for 400.00 just an option.

No, horses do not breed year round. Mares ovulate less than 6 months from March to Oct, but usually only allow a stallion to approach in spring. Given this and an 11 month gestation, they are terribly inefficient at propagating. Horses plowed our fields, pulled our wagons and carried us and our cannons into war. Horses are buried beside our fallen on the battlefield. I'd sooner round up illegals and send them home than harm a single horse unnecessarily. Oxen plowed our fields, pulled our wagons and we eat the heck out of them. Eating horses should not be a crime. Protein is protein.

There have been wild Horses running around in Arizona way before the rodeo fire and yes they are a pain in the butt and left unmanaged a real issue... But what you say is a bit over the top since The ELK herd we enjoy hunting is not native to Arizona ( our Native elk were hunted out) .... I know a lot of guys up north pissed at the removal of small mouth from Rim lakes heck most of our game fish species are not native, and thank god for that.... The elk herd is at least native to North America. And we are allowed to manage their population. They should sell tags for the ponies.

I ate horse when I lived in Chile. I liked it. I would eat it again. Really lean, so it is probably really good for ya. Bring on the horse.

Im tired of people signing petitions to changes stuff. If it means that much to them, let them sign checks. Thats what us hunters and fishermen do. Pay to play. Pay to say.

a bit of info on trusts. A basic NFA trust will allow you and normally your wife to possess the items in the trust. In other words, you will have to be with your items when they are being shot. It should take care of the items when you pass on. ie who gets your stuff. More advanced trusts allow you and your wife to posses your items and can allow for others to be in possession of them also, depending on how it is written. They also have more details on who gets what and how it is handled. The "you get what you pay for" story goes for trusts too.

I wear Walker's game ears because my hearing loss is so bad I can't hear turkey, elk, deer walking in or quail talking until it is to late. My Air Force days did that. My shoulders are ruined too. Hence I'm in the suppressor bandwagon. Stops hearing loss, stops bone jarring recoil and makes my rifle shoot better.I call that a hat trick.

I have the Leupold VX3 6.5-20x50 LR on my Tikka 300wsm. My only complaint is the bottom end. I like a scope with a lower starting point. If I were to do it over I would get the VX6 3-18x50 or the VX6 4-24x52.

Best rifle cartridge for open terrain - Unit 21 Whitetail hunt
cactusjack replied to Desert Rat's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
and the suppressor guy speaks up again. I have the same Tikka T3 300wsm you do. It shoots lights out but it kicked like a SOB. Then I put on a suppressor. Now it kicks about the same as my 243 and I dont need to wear ear protection. It still shoots .5 moa. Did I mention I like suppressors?
