Hunting is all the moments leading up to that squeeze of the trigger. this is true, but it takes away the 2nd hardest part of the hunt. the first is locating them. but if you can shoot them from where you located them, theres a lot less "hunting" involved usually. if i had a little kid, i dont think i would want them shooting far or out of one of those triclawps things. learning to get close and have the chance of busting them is part of hunting. if you can them out of a vice with a sniper rifle from 800 that aint teaching them much except how to pull a trigger Teaching the kids and PRACTICING with them at long range makes the kids a better hunter. Knowing your rifle and load, and having confidence in them, is priceless. Know when to shoot, and when NOT to shoot is a learning process too. Knowing the difference is something everyone should know, and unfortunately, is not always the case. I don't have a vice or Triclawps. Prone with a good solid rear rest is my preferred method for shooting longer ranges. Along with lots of practice on proper shooting form. Getting your kids out hunting is life changing. For both the parent and the child. Respecting our wildlife, natural resources, the outdoors, and the traditions of the sport will always be one of my most cherished things I can pass down to my kids, and in the future, grandkids. Pass those things down to your kids and future grandkids, but leave me all those awesome rifles.

Federal Gold Medal Match Primers (Large Rifle) GM210M
cactusjack replied to kazpilot25's topic in Classified Ads
CJ, I bet I could make something work. It might be a couple of weeks but that sounds good. -
So far I have acquired 250rds of factory Remington 25-20 wcf ammo. I got my powder yesterday at Sportsmans Warehouse, my bullets ordered from Brownells and am on the hunt for Federal Small Rifle Match primers m205. I have my magneto speed I'm hoping to get out and shoot it and get some info with factory then start loading some to develop a hunting load.

I bought one for my wife. She is a school teacher and is the envy of all the other teachers during playground duty. I'm 6'5" or I'd get it from you. Would be great in a tree stand

Game Processor / Cooler near Patagonia or Sonoita???
cactusjack replied to PowellSixO's topic in The Campfire
I bone them out and have gallon and 2.5 gallon bags. I try to keep all the muscle groups together. The hind quarter hams are too big to put in a gallon bag and still close it. I use 2 of those and probably 4 or 5 gallon per coues. -
I can shoot 1000 yards, easily. On the side of a box of 22lr, it says they can shoot 1.5 miles. I cant hit shxt, but I can shoot 1000+ all day long.

the best part of the story is one of the guys working with us was a vet that was the commander of the Armys sniper school at Ft Benning. Jason just smiled and nodded.

you forgot the hours of Youtube training

I work part-time at a gunshop over by Intel. We have had several engineers tell us that they wanted to buy a 338 Lupua and a high-end Vortex (400max) and were going to shoot long distance. One guy told us he had never shot anything but a handgun but since he was an engineer and he knew the math involved, he would be good out to 1500yards. His shooting mentor was a Youtube guy that "offers training much better then what our Military Snipers and LEO get." We tried to talk him off of his perch but he probably just bought his setup from someone else. What I learned from these guys is "Shooting long distance is just math, anyone can do it."

dang you. I will take it

Be sure to read the fine print of the Guide Contract. Full service could be way more then bargained for.

Great video. Looks like it was an awesome hunt. Congrats Brittany! only thing that worried me was all the kissing. Most guides don't require that, right?

I got the tripod head about 30 minutes ago. I only have one complaint. This deal went to quickly, I didn't have time to get home and hide it from the wife! Thanks again. It looks better then you described it. -
a good friend of mine shot a nice mule deer in Nevada during a muzzleloader hunt. The deer was running straight away from him, he just pulled up and shot. The buck went down. He runs over to it and sees it is missing one of its antlers and sees it on the ground with the ball smashed into it. He went to pick up the deer's head and it opened its eyes and started to stand up. He had knocked it out. Since it was a muzzleloader hunt, and he ran over to it, he never loaded a second shot. He then tries to wrestle it to the ground and kill it with his knife. His brothers are all laughing and watching. He finally stuck it and was able to kill it. His kids told him he had killed a duck, half doe half buck, just like on the Disney movie Open Season. That deer is now known as Elliot.
