    backpacking tent and bag recommendations

do you want a 2 man tent and a 2 man bag? or a 2 man tent and a 1 man bag? Ok. that said. I like Western Mountaineering bags. What I have learned from talking to manufactures of sleeping bags, there is not a rating system that is standardized in the industry. Some go with, "It will keep you alive at this temp" and others fudge the numbers and some keep you comfortable. Western Mountaineering keeps you comfortable at the rated temp. Which is a pretty open ended claim, but from what I have experienced is accurate. I do use a pad and an ultralight cot. (LuxuryLite) My tent choice is Hilleberg. Weight to strength/size ratio is unmatched. The price is high but they are amazing. They are a full 2 walled, 3 or 4 season tent. The tent goes up with the outer wall attached so the inside stays dry even when setting it up in a downpour. Look at their site. The Nallo 2 is a great 2 man tent. I try to follow the buy once, cry once rule. But I haven't always and have a garage full of lessons to show for it.

    Firearm prices

Are you looking for Insurance Replacement Prices or current ballpark used firearm prices?

    Firearm prices

Look at sold prices minus commission. The commission is 5% of the first 50.00 then 2.5% for anything above that.

    Inherited a rifle

I shot the 25-20 this morning. I bought 5 boxes of remington from cabelas. I was shooting at my Mr Target ar500 target with a hostage flipper. At 100 yards I ht it several times, however it wouldn't flip the plate. My uncle told me it was a shooter, he wasn't lying. I had a blast shooting it. I took some friends out and let them shoot my m16, mp5, lmt308, and a bunch more suppressed rifles and pistols. They thought my Winchester looked cool but they went for the NFA stuff. I stuck with the 25-20. Only thing missing was my magneto speed. I forgot it along with my shooting mat when I loaded my truck last night. I guess I need to take it out again. What torture. The m16 is by my friend's dad's 410 and marlin 357.

The Shields are a decent gun in that price range. Not to crap on your thread or choice if you so choose, but I continue to get complaints about the Taurus PT111 G2. They have a great warranty however I wouldn't want to depend on it in a crisis. my 2cents

    "Good to a thousand" mentality??

Hunting is all the moments leading up to that squeeze of the trigger. this is true, but it takes away the 2nd hardest part of the hunt. the first is locating them. but if you can shoot them from where you located them, theres a lot less "hunting" involved usually. if i had a little kid, i dont think i would want them shooting far or out of one of those triclawps things. learning to get close and have the chance of busting them is part of hunting. if you can them out of a vice with a sniper rifle from 800 that aint teaching them much except how to pull a trigger Teaching the kids and PRACTICING with them at long range makes the kids a better hunter. Knowing your rifle and load, and having confidence in them, is priceless. Know when to shoot, and when NOT to shoot is a learning process too. Knowing the difference is something everyone should know, and unfortunately, is not always the case. I don't have a vice or Triclawps. Prone with a good solid rear rest is my preferred method for shooting longer ranges. Along with lots of practice on proper shooting form. Getting your kids out hunting is life changing. For both the parent and the child. Respecting our wildlife, natural resources, the outdoors, and the traditions of the sport will always be one of my most cherished things I can pass down to my kids, and in the future, grandkids. Pass those things down to your kids and future grandkids, but leave me all those awesome rifles.

    Inherited a rifle

So far I have acquired 250rds of factory Remington 25-20 wcf ammo. I got my powder yesterday at Sportsmans Warehouse, my bullets ordered from Brownells and am on the hunt for Federal Small Rifle Match primers m205. I have my magneto speed I'm hoping to get out and shoot it and get some info with factory then start loading some to develop a hunting load.

    Milwaukee heated jacket

I bought one for my wife. She is a school teacher and is the envy of all the other teachers during playground duty. I'm 6'5" or I'd get it from you. Would be great in a tree stand
