We've had these same visitors come almost every night for the past couple weeks. Check out this boar, looks to be about 2 1/2 ft tall!
-
I have also done this, and it turns out pretty well! If your phone has the option on zooming in it works great! Awesome pics!
-
Which one is the boar? If it is the one on the right he looks hunched up making him look bigger....I have seen them so big their stomachs almost touch the ground. Great pics how close were you? My dad has been having them come through the yard almost every night and a coyote comes through almost the same time every day at about 2:00 pm. Thanks for sharing I can't wait to chase them in FEB. The boar is the one on the left, and he isn't "puffed out" ha and i was about 5 or 6 feet away lol. They have come almost every night! Tuesday night, i saw that big boar and a sow get into, which left blood every where! I too cannot wait till spring javelina!

Sorry, couldn't think of where else to post this. This date is the crucial head to head match up of the Oregon Ducks and Arizona Wildcats. Any of you who follow college football will recognize the name "College Gameday" The College Gameday crew will be in Tucson for this game; from 8 AM to 10 AM. I suggest anybody a wildcat fan, this a must go game. If you attend, please wear red. Junior tail back, Nic Grigsby had this to say about a "red out", "When we take the field, we want to see a sea of red." "We want to be wearing red on the field and we want every seat in the stadium to be filled with people wearing red". BEAR DOWN!!

Monster "Management" bucks
shylopolito replied to Coues Sniper's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Sorry about the size of this picture, but it's a pretty nice two point muley a couple of my dads friends saw up in utah. -
Wow, they really took advantage of those LO tags! Awesome buck.
-
Yes, that is the hunt.
-
My father and I are thinking of getting a leftover tag (yes they still have them) just for a chance to get another chance lol. We have never been in 30A just drove past it. I was wondering if anybody was gonna be up there this upcoming hunt(Nov 6 - Nov 12)? If so feel free to shoot me a pm and we could help each other out on the hunt.
-
I guess they had LO bull tags for unit 34 also? I would never imagine that, but my uncle picked up two of them today. So I will be helping out on that hunt for sure. Will be a very tough hunt, most likely snow on the ground, really really cold temperatures. The tags he picked up were archery only bull, the season runs Dec 12 through Dec 16.

Thank you for spreading the news. Might be able to help on one of these hunts.

Coues Archer, I sent you a pm, and I'm not sure if it sent or not?
-
That is a big buck!! Good luck!

Awesome pictures and nice buck!

I'm sure this topic has come up time and time again. But what unit for coues do yall think is the hardest to get drawn for? Without looking at the regulations to see the draw odds, what comes first to your mind?

Stories of Your First Coues Hunts
shylopolito replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
This has to be one of the best stories I've read on here. This brings back some memories of this August when I tried to harvest the ever elusive coues with my bow. This gets me so pumped up for December and January. Awesome write up and awesome buck. -
Nice bucks!

Congrats on two nice bucks!

This is what the game & fish has to say about mule deer in that unit. Overview: Mule deer numbers in Unit 19A have declined over the past decade, as they have statewide. Because of the reduced deer numbers, the December archery deer season is not open in Unit 19A, however the August/September and January seasons remain open. The Coues whitetail deer population in Unit 19A seems more stable, although there have always been relatively few whitetail in the unit. Access to the west side of Mingus Mountain north of Hwy 89A has become limited due to new housing developments – it is best to reach this area from Perkinsville Road (County Road 70) off of State Highway 89 in Chino Valley. The area immediately east of Watson Lake is private land. Obtain permission before hunting this area. On the top of Mingus Mountain is a Forest Service recreation area, which encompasses some private homes, the Forest Service's Mingus Campground, the fire lookout tower, the Methodist Church Camp, and Mingus Lake at Elks Well. No discharge of firearms is allowed in this recreation area. Also, per state regulations, no firearms may be discharged within 1/4 mile of any building without permission of the owner. Areas: During the fall archery hunt, and during mild weather conditions for the rifle hunt, many deer are in the ponderosa pine habitat type on top of Mingus Mountain and in the juniper habitat type on the sides of Mingus Mountain. The Woodchute Wilderness Area and the west side of Mingus Mountain are good hunting areas at this time. The area near Copper Mountain and the Agua Fria River near the town of Mayer is also productive. After cold weather sets in (snow is possible at higher elevations during the opening weekend of the rifle hunt), many deer move to lower elevations, to areas north of St. Matthews Mountain and towards the Verde River, and the lower foothills of Mingus Mountain and Woodchute Mountain. ATV habitat damage has led to the Forest Service closing most of the roads leading to the Verde River. As with all roads on the Prescott National Forest, if a road is not marked with a road number, it is designated as closed. Please observe all Forest Service road closures.

Thank you, we have seen some ginormus bulls up that road, I just thought the rut had died down, being this late.
