c'mon ya buncha weirdos. you been watchin' them stupid cookin' shows too much and readin' bon appetite. slice it up about 1/4-3/8" thick. salt and pepper, flop it in flower and chunk it in a hot cast iron skillet with a little oil and cook it well done. even a little crunchy. then make some gravy and fried taters and biscuits. rosemary? garlic? mustard? it ain't a weiner. rosemary, what the h e l l is that? we beat up anybody in our camp that wants rosemary. yuk. what is it anyway? just the name sounds like it'll hurt ya. Lark.

it mighta fixed the new ones, but it didn't do much for the millions of em before the fix. the 700's; 721, 725 and 700, are very accurate actions. always have been. but they are also made in a style that allows them to be real inexpensive. they have never had a real "safety". what they call a safety just blocks the trigger. the hammer is still live, as long as it is back. there isn't one part that blocks that hammer. not one. this is one place they save a lot of money on the action. the trigger is a very accurate style, but it has some design flaws that allow the things to go off when ya don't want em to. dust so small you can't hardly even see it will allow it to go off when you close the bolt or take it of safety. the most recent changes remington has made are a modification to the "safety" that allows you to unload the magazine and chamber, without taking the safety off and they have put in a different trigger, that from the diagrams i've seen, looks nearly identical to the jewel trigger. jewel is also the brand of trigger that remington installs in the sendero. remngtons also have a soldered on bolt handle and i hate their cheesey extractor, but those don't have much to do with safety. and it you never have a problem with a reload, the cheesey extractor shouldn't be a problem, but they are really inferior to a claw. when winchester went away from the pre-64 model 70 styls, it was simply economics. they basically cloned the 700 bolt, but they did leave the true safety on the bolt, like it should be. 700's are ok, but they are inferior in design and craftmanship than the better actions. and they are very accurate. you can't argue that. but if you have one, you need to understand the quirks and flaws of it and use it accordingly. and never point it at yourself or anyone else, when you unload it or take the safety off. because everyone of em has the potential to kill ya. i have several 700's. but also know what i have. i've never had a problem with any of mine. but i have seen several real close calls with other's rifes. whatta you knotheads think i've been tellin' ya for years about remington triggers? this has been a problem since the 721's were first made in the later 40's. i've seen it happen several times. remington triggers are dangerous. that's why they recently changed em. the original triggers are pretty neat in how they break very well, but they are dangerous as heck and can go off for no reason. especially if they get a little dust in em. they quit making the 600 because of dangerous triggers. i watched the show. it said if they woulda fixed it in the 40's, when the guy that invented it wanted to, it would have 5.5 cents each. that was too much. the 700's are a decent action, but are made much cheaper than most others. Lark.

i've shot a .250 for many decades. mine is a 99 savage. it's an excellent deer cartridge. i'd love to have a ruger. is your's an old flat top? or is it an international? i've looked for a model 70, but they are way to 'spensive. one o' these days i'll run into a ruger at the gunshow and bring it home. but the .250 is a very good round, for about anything. Lark.

i'll agree with you on the #2 notypical. that's a mule deer. there is some really smelly stuff goin' on with that buck. but the #1 just looks like a fat horned typical. i don't see anything there to call it a nontypical. i've also heard and read that the #2 typical is actually a little bigger than the #1, if it were ever measured by someone who isn't prejudiced to the old #1. whatever, the deer are all great bucks that deserve recognition. except that muley. that ain't a coues, period. just got home from the hospital. not one emergency all day. no suction, no problems with anything. her mom gets to feed her again. she either played and laughed and smiled, or ate and slept, all day. all the iv's and wires and tubes and stuff have been removed. she's still on a little o2, but they are diminishing that all the time and she still is taking the methadone for the withdrawls, but that is going down too. she acts a little drunk, because of it, but she is one happy little camper and her family is one thankfull buncha folks. things are lookin' pretty good right now. if she keeps it up, she might even get to go home sometime next week. what happened to her was for whatever reason, guess you'd call it a birth defect, her pumonary artery grew around her trachea and crushed and deformed it like a boa. they that to put her on a bypass machine, cut all her ribs, cut her trachea, relocate the artery to where it should be and then rebuild her trachea. had some problems with the trachea repair not wanting to stay open and all kindsa other stuff. she "coded" once and almost did a couple other times, in the week after the surgery. them dr's know what the heck they are doing. i wonder how much of this kinda stuff will not happen anymore under obamacare? one thing i did learn through all this, is no matter how bad off you are, you don't have to look far to find someone who is worse. some o' those poor little babies in that place are going through a lot more than Lark. several haven't made it since she's been there too. seeing the devastation on their parents faces is hard to take. i know what it's like to lose a child and it really pains me to see someone have to go through it too. but today is a good day for our family. there were times that it looked pretty dire but i always had faith that she'd pull through. even when things were darkest. thanks for all the concern and kind words. and you knotheads remember always what is truly important. Lark.

if you're smart and sneaky enough, it don't much matter what ya wear. i had on a blaze orange shirt and hat in colorado a couple weeks ago and snuck right up on a pronghorn buck with 6 does with him. went from well over a 1/2 mile away to about 200 yds in wide open prarie. just using whatever geography i could. as far as having to wear orange, it's the law there and if ya wanna hunt in colorado you have to wear it, so it doesn't matter what a guy thinks. i prefer not to, but them fellers up there shoot whatever ain't orange. generally i just prefer dark or neutral colors of something in green, blue or brown plaid. if you have on dark clothes and don't let em see ya move, they think your just a shadow anyway. the stupidest thing i've ever seen is the camo with with all the limbs and leaves painted on it. like somebody else said, all you're doin' is makin' bill jordan rich. i have camo and use it a lot, but generally don't need it. i'm just a natural camo'd guy. and i'm sneeeeeeeeeeky. you guys ever pull goat horns? you put the skint head in a garbage bag and chunk it up on a tin roof for few days until it so stinkin' that buzzards make a u turn. then ya get em down and pull the horns off. it always makes at least one o' my kids barf. this time they put vicks up their noses and just did some heavy duty gaggin'. today i had to blow the brain soup outta the skulls with a hose and put the heads in a wash tub and start boilin' em. you talk about a gurgglin', bubblin', stinkin, putrid tub o' soup. wooo. i seen the neighbors kids barfin while they were on the swing. on each other. then there was some air quality car from the county sniffin' around. the other neighbor's pigs dug outta the pen and run off. hopefully i'll get this done without gettin' shot or goin' to jail. anyway, all the free stew ya want tomorrow. come on over. Lark.

carl's goat did have really pretty horns. the classic heart shaped curl everbuddy talks about. mine scores about an inch more. mine is around 78 and his is about 77. really nice bucks for anywhere really, but for colorado they are exceptional. we saw a game warden that couldn't believe we got 3 goats over 14 inches. said he saw very few 14 inchers, must less 15 inchers. if a guy gets off the road and walks a little, good things happen. ya'll best get out the outta state info and go next year. it's too close to Az and too easy to do, to not go. poor carl, he really takes care of his truck. i think he's gonna sell it after 5 days of us fartin' in it and eatin' sardines and spillin' em and gettin' in with guts on our shoes, etc. and the bed had goat blood and little goat tunds all over in it. i only had like 14000 miles when we left and we put about 3000 more on it while we were gone. Lark.

shoot the one on top. he ain't doin' the herd one bit o' good. Lark.

one time me and my buddy were pokin' down the old road that went along the top of middle mountain. there was a little wallow right on the side o' the road. i mean like 50 feet from the road in a little meadow. we stopped the truck and got out were dinkin' around lookin' for tracks and such. talkin' loud and laughin'. my buddy shot a rock with his .44 mag. then i had to show him far i could pee and was makin' a big whizz rainbow out into the waterhole. as i was lookin' at my stream i looked up and there was this goofy little dude in a treestand lookin' at me and he wasn't in a good mood. i cut it off so quick it gave me a cramp in my prostate and i couldn't pee for about a day. we started laughin' so hard we were cryin'. and this little midget lookin' dude just give us dirty looks until we left. glad he didn't have a camera. he said somethin' us about bein' jerks, and he was right, but it didn't have anything to do with the waterhole whizzin'. we were just jerks all the time. but i axed him why put a treestand on the side o' the road? and he didn't have an answer. i think he got to see a lotta folks from where he was. sorta like this camera. Lark.

we did have a lot of fun, bill. i'm the good lookin' guy in the green shirt on the far left. holding the gigantic goat head. on my left is my youngest son, Bridger. on his left is my oldest son, Gunner, and on his left is my son in law's dad, Carl. Lark.

i wore stripes a lot when i was younger, but not that young. that's Gunner's boy, Orion. how'd ya like that gut eatin' turtle? any o' you guys that want to hunt goats, but can't get an Az. tag, like everbody else, ought look at colorado. it's a little expensive and access to private land can be sorta hard to figger out. this unit had a BGAP area. Big Game Access Program. had about 35,000 acres of private land that hunters had walk in access too. cost $40 extra for the access permit. but there were a lotta goats in the interior of it and very few folks wandered into it. they mostly just drove around the edge. we bought the landowner vouchers for $70 each. you still have to pay the state or the license after that. a lot of places want up to a grand for a voucher. most are $250 to $750, so we felt fortunate to find these. and we got some of the biggest goats we've ever shot in colorado. you'd be hard pressed to shoot em any bigger in Az. got the last one cut up and in the freezer today. cooked up all the necks in a slow cooker and are gonna have goat neck enchiladas tomorrow. also made a big batch o' goat jerky this morning. good stuff. the place we hunted is 800 miles from creen queek. it's lotsa fun. ya best look into it. Lark.

i sighted in my new vortex today. put it on a .264. 7 shots and it was deadnuts. easiest scope to tune i've ever used. the clicks are actually 1/4" at a hunnerd yards. had 2 other rifles with me that were rescoped and needed sighted. took a lot more shooting with them. seems every scope i've ever had takes either more or less clicks than advertised to move the crosshair. the vortex was a dream. i can see more of them in my safe. Lark.

our granddaughter got sick a week ago sunday. ended up in the hospital with what they said was the croup. kept getting worse, instead of better. after quite a few tests a ct scan revealed, of all the crazy things, that her pulmonary artery had somehow grown around her trachea and was choking her. her 6 month birthday is friday. she had surgery today. had to do the heart/lung bypass deal, cut all her ribs, section her trachea to remove the deformed part and relocate the artery then put her all back together. she's gonna have a week or so of icu and should get to go home after that. surgery was a resounding success. her parents, and my wife and i for the most part, have lived in the hospital for about 10 days now. been about as stressful as anything i've ever had to deal with. but because of a lot of spiritual experiences, it's been a very rewarding time also. really brought an already very tight family even closer. got to know our son in law and his family even better and get even closer them. just a lot of very special things. we had written off the colorado goat hunt that starts saturday, but it looks like we'll at least make it before the season ends for 4 or 5 days. anyway she is gonna be fine and i ain't lookin' for one bit o' sympathy. we've been so blessed these past days that we don't need any. just want all you knotheads to realize what is truly important and what really means something. Lark.

they made the 98 in a buncha different caibers, mostly in the 57mm length. after wwII there were so many 98's around and so many guys wildcattin' and such, there ain't no tellin' what it was. they made a 7.65 belgian too. them ol' mausers are fine actions for sure. and you're right, you can't beat a .270. Lark.
