    Wolves moving West

that's funny Bill. 6 years ago i saw one in unit 10 on the west side of cataract canyone. that's quite a ways from the blue. there was one killing miniature horses around snowflake about the same time. the very fact that the wolfers think they can make em stay in a given area shows their stupidity. wolves are rangey suckers. they travel and are likely to pick up and just go at any time. like i've said before, my uncle killed more of them than any man ever, i'd bet. one time they moved in to the wilcox area almost over night, bunches of em. never knew exactly why, but he did em some serious damage that's for sure. they are extremely easy to trap, even the real ones that are wild. even easier to poison. he'd get a pickup load every night. my grandad killed several of em over the years and at one time had the paws and tail off one in his freezer. they had an old cow that got sick and they made a little pen up a canyon where she was and packed food into her and had her about well, and a wolf come along and killed her. he trapped it and packed it back to the house. there used to be a photo of it around where this ol' cowboy named red morgan put cowboy boots on all of it's feet and stood it up in the photo. looked sorta cool to see a wolf wearin' cowboy boots. wish i knew where that photo was now. bet i could make some wolfers howl with it. the ol' lobo we to used have was an interesting animal, and it's probly too bad they all got killed, same with the sonoran grizzly, but they did and that's pretty much the end of the real story. i read a deal awhile back about the last wolves in yellowstone. said they killed a female that had a litter of puppies in a den. they caught all the puppies and let the forest ranger's kids play with em and took some photos of em, and then they drowned em. that was the end of the yellowstone wolves. they had some photos of the kids playin' with em. Lark's son Bridger takes a giant!!

when he posted the score of his bull last year there were several guys that probly never even killed a raghorn that said it wasn't that big so he didn't want anyone hackin' on him over this one. a guy saw it in my truck today and said he thought it was a 350 bull. sorry, it's a little bigger than that. it's a real big bull. if he chooses to have it officially measured, which is the only score that matters, it will gross and net very well and will easily make the all time b&c book. by a bunch. besides, it ain't even close to 60 days yet either. we stretched a tape on it and know within 10 points or so what it'll do. but that ain't what it's about. he worked really hard, in really cold weather, in really rough country and shot an exceptional bull that 1/10% of hunters never even get to see in a spotting scope, and had a great time with family and friends doing it. there are a lotta bulls posted on this sight that aren't as big as this one, but the guys that shot em are just as happy, worked just as hard, and had just as good of a time getting em. i know my aunt did. that's what really matters. Bridger seems like he's pretty much moved on to the next hunt, javelina season, now. he was talking about getting out the .45/70 and making sure he gets a pig with it, saturday, while we were cutting that old bull up. he has bones like a holstien. good night what a beast. it's a dang nice bull. i took it to show my daughter and her husband today. i had several guys drive up next to me to get a better look. pretty cool. i sorta wish i had shot it, but i'm a lot happier seeing my kid do it. means a lot more to me knowing that i raised up some tough kids that will do whatever it takes to accomplish their goal. don't get hung up on scores. get hung up on hunting. Lark.

    Wolves moving West

bill, i could live with it a lot better if they had any wolves. they don't. if you dig into the original stuff they put out, every animal they have is part dog. every one of em. and they all come from just 4 or 5 ancestors. they have to give em all parvo and other shots because they are part dog. parvo liked to wiped em out a couple years ago. they had to try and round up every one of em to give em a shot. yeah, they breed in the wild. but so would feral dogs. i've made 3 of the gov't wolf people admit to me that they are all part dog. they admitted it, because they knew i had the documentation to back it up. my daughter did a research paper on this subject in college and a couple azgfd biologists told her the same thing. at least one in writing. if you look at the release in the yellowstone area, it took off from the very beginning. they never had a hard time getting a sustainable population. for one reason, and it didn't have anything to do with the superior intellect and skill of the usfw, it was because they were real, live, wild wolves that were just captured a few weeks before. they turned em loose on a game population that didn't have a clue what they were and they thrived. they did better than they ever wanted em too, and then when the numbers were several times what the usfw guidelines called for, they sued to keep em listed. that right there showed that they never intended for the program to succeed and when it did they were in a panic about what to do. they've shot a few hunting, legally, but there is ongoing litigation as we speak, and always will be. this mexican wolf program has been going on for as long as the yellowstone program, and it has been a miserable failure. they aren't even close to their target numbers, they have to practically hand feed em still, they contradict themselves continually, the females regularly breed with domestic dogs, because the male "wolves" don't know how, when one actually starts to act like a wild wolf, they shoot it, the whole program is a joke and it's costing over a million bucks per wolf. that ain't a lot in the scheme of things, but it is a lot. these things they are trying to pawn off as wolves ain't, and they won't ever make it on their own. everything seems to have gotten along fine without em for about 50 years. i don't see any reason to waist any more time or resources on something that only causes hardship for folks that use the land. Wolves moving West

rogeti, who are the sportsmen and livestock operators that are in favor of it? i guess they mighta got one o' each to say it's cool. the azgfd has an entire group o' folks dedicated to the extinct mexican wolf. officers, techs, office people, vehicles, equipment, offices. they get a big chunk o' change from the feds for buying into it. there are probly quite a few treehuggers in the dept that support it idealistically, but the main reason the dept supports it is $$$$. the program is a farce and isn't designed to be successfull, mainly because there isn't any such thing as a mexican wolf, but also because it isn't about the wolf, it's about control. just another tool to pry folks off the land. the miexican wolf is extint and has been for decades. not one the these things they call wolves, are. they are all part dog. they have been pen raised by hippies that think they can teach em to be a wild animal. they can't exist without innoculation, feeding, regular checkups, etc. they ain't a wild animal. they're just feral dogs, at best. heck, feral dogs would have had more success than these things. Lark.

    Wild Justice

you guys do realize that this is a tv show that is scripted and about as real as dog the bounty hunter or the tow truck show with all them fat ugly wimmin on it, don't ya? don't you think there might a little something on the news every once in awhile if they were as active as they want you to think? and don't think for a second that Azgfd doesn't have spooks working for em. they dang sure do. i watched a couple of em arrest a couple wannabe gang bangers that were smokin' dope while fishing at big lake once. there is, or was, he might be retired by now, a famous or infamous spook that worked outta the pinetop office. several dorks i used to work with got to know him a lot better than they wanted to. and there are others. this is a tv show that sensastionalizes everything in order to get ratings. might be sorta fun to watch, but it ain't even close to real. Lark.
  12. if you reload a lot, you see this regularly. every time you shoot it, the case stretches. until if finally cracks just above the base. every time you reloade, inpsect your brass. you can catch them most of the time, before this happens. i full length everything, because i reload for hunting and i don't ever want a tight round in a situation where i need to be able to reload quickly. anytime you shoot, you need to vigilant about all aspects. cracked cases are part of reloading and shooting. Lark.

    Garmin Rino

i['ve got several rinos, a couple midlands and several motorolas and they all seem to work well with each other. the rinos seem to have one helluva radio in them. better than the other ones, even the really good motorolas. that might be part of the problem you guys are seeing. the rinos seem to have a lot better range than any of the other radios i've used. could be the rinos will reach farther than the other brands and it makes em seem to be scrambled. i mean i don't know one way or the other, but all mine seem to work fine together. Lark.

    Rio Salado/Usery range

this makes me feel a lot better. i thought maybe i was thin skinned. i hate usery. most of the guys working there appear to be retired military, a couple of em are definitely ex-DI's. they are used to being able to kick the heck outta anyone that gets outta line and i think they have a hard time dealing with the reality that they can't do it legally and it ain't a good idea to scream at guys with loaded guns. i have a spotting scope mounted on an old rifle stock. once when the line was cold a guy next to me wanted to look through it and the ranger dude came down there screaming like a maniac because he thought he was handling a rifle. after he saw what it was he was still pissed. a little later when i was leaving i picked it up when the line was cold to carry it and some other stuff to the truck and here he came again. i mean it was like he wanted to have a stroke. then i got pissed and started backing him up and he reached down and put his hand on his .45 and i told him in no uncertain terms where that gun would end up if he drew it and kept him going backwards. by then a buncha folks were sorta in on it and the guy that was the rangemaster came down there and grabbed the guy and told him to go home. i've never seen that guy there since. he was there all the time before. i talked to the rangemaster right after the incident and he said the guy really had an attitude. he was an ex marine and figgerd that meant you had to do what he said, even when he was wrong. most of the time the guys there are ok. some of em are real good. but on the days when all the a-holes are there, they can be rough to deal with. and they don't do much to the morons to educate em much either. seems like they size ya up when ya come in and decide they're gonna teach ya a lesson. i'm glad we have the place, but i don't go there unless i have to anymore. i found a good place in the desert that is a lot nicer and the only jerk i hafta put up with is me. Hunting pack

you guys do it all wrong. i own a buncha backpacks, from little soft deals to alaskan freighters. i want my boys to have the very best when they are punkin' my stuff outta the woods, while i supervise. usually in shade in my folding lounge chair while drinkin' a diet mt dew. Lark.
  18. shoot the deer. don't' matter if they have full auto ak47's. you know where they are, they don't know where you are. you probably have a rifle that will shoot 400 yards or so accurately, they don't. if they shoot at you, you kill them. simple as that. it's the law. somebody shoots at you, you kill them. then they don't shoot at you anymore. if you let fear of someone that ain't supposed to be here keep you from pursuing a perfectly legal enterprise you might oughta stay home. if they have the drop on ya or something, then you have to use some discretion. i don't see any reason here for that. blast the buck and if these stupid sob's wanna shoot it out, either get behind a rock or shoot back. but don't let mohows keep you from enjoying life, liberty and the pursuit of deer. BIG GAME TOMORROW NIGHT

so what's the deal? the asu fans are being nice to the cats and the cat fans are being nice to asu? you're sposeta rub it iin. smear it around. it's a rivalry. c'mon, what's up with all this kissyface stuff? then when u of a wins, they can return the favor. know how to find tucson? go south till you smell it and then east until you step in it. asu won because they played a little better and there coaches were a little smarter and their cheerleaders are a lot purtier and don't leave tracks on dry concrete. what do you call a 300 lb u of a cheerleader? the top of the pyramid. this is the order of game importance in Az. 3-win the rose bown, 2- win the national championship, and #1 by a long margin, win the border cup. how do you get a u of a grad off your porch? pay him for the pizza. c'mon it's all in fun. at least when your team wins. Lark.

this was in the repubic today- "what's the difference between u of a and oatmeal? oatmeal belongs in a bowl". the guy that made the difference was that giant #34. he blocked both kicks. if he didn't hit em it wouldn't have mattered if they were low, they woulda went through. he has about an 8 foot vertical. the basketball team needs to look at him. great game to watch. o' course any game who of a loses is a good game. just like the squeelers.
