they lock the gate at honeymoon on feb 1 every year because of a few a-holes on their fatcats and quads looking for sheds. too lazy to get off and walk, so they would ride their quads all over and tear everything up. then after the gate was locked they kept going around it. they got caught a few times, but i don't think they ever paid a fine. they (the jerks on the quads, the azgfd and the forest circus) put a burden on everyone who tries to do things right. then when the guys with no morals get caught, they don't do anything to em anyway. maybe if they would make it painful in the wallet things would change. but i guess the law enforcement people are too busy making things hard on the folks that are trying to live by the law. anyone that is stupid enought to do something like this isn't going to let a law keep em from it. so if they pass a law, the only folks that suffer are the guys that were ok to start with. most offroad stuff can be technically illegal. you have to get someone to enforce it. Lark.

or officer hartzell could have said, you're in the wrong unit, remind him of what truly sounds like an honest mistake, tell him don't do it again and both go away from it better for it. pretty obvious coach didn't intend to break the law. say whatever you want about the "law". things like this don't do anyone any good. i've had treehuggers screw up hunts in 27 before, which is against the law, and reported it and just had the wardens say they couldn't do anything. there have also been numerous cases of kids involved in "serial" poaching in the same areas, getting caught, and getting off with next to nothing. i don't see where officer hartzell was being anything other than badge happy here. my opinion. i'll believe the solar deal when i see it. i know a little about electric generation. if there was something in the works they would have already applied for the first permits. that would have been in the paper. nobody builds anything "green" without a brass band and cheerleaders to tell the world about it. they need to build a powerline, a substation, have a sight picked out, need water, an engineering firm, contractors, sub contractors, need to get hooked up with the local REA or whoever is gonna wheel the power for em. anybody seen anything like that in the paper or even heard a rumor of it? and they need a dumptruck load o' money and grants and tax breaks and various other back scratchin'. i call BS on the solar deal. or even wind. they are both BS anyway. this stinks of somethin' else and i think we can all figger it out. if the azgfd thought there was some green deal goin' in they would know about it because one of the very first things you have to do is environmental impact studies that would involve the azgfd. so far, i applaud the azgfd. sucks to do it, but i think they did an end around that the rancher and the outfitter didn't see comin' and they are standin' there with their jocks around their ankles. my kid put in for that unit first choice too. i almost did. Lark.

7mm/08's might make a decent door stop or you could use barrel for a jack handle or pry bar. or screw off the barrel and screw on a .243. they are completely unethical as a hunting caliber. they are also the only gun endorsed by peta, greenpeace, the sierra club and sarah brady. i don't shoot competively because if i did, nobody else would show up because they would know they wuz shootin' for second place. so whatever other kinda guns ya use don't really matter. just keep it in mind that "i'm glad Lark ain't here". i quit even goin' to turkey shoots because when i showed up they'd just give me a turkey and wouldn't even let me shoot. then everbody else'd shoot for another, smaller turkey. i also don't shoot competitively because i'd hafta build a new house just for the trophys. and look what it'd do the gun industry. they'd only make .270's. the only argument would be "what kinda .270 do you have?" so actually, i'm bein' civic minded too. look at all the folks it'd put outta work. ammo makers, barrel builders, shooting writers, armories. heck the russian would just shoot .270's.

good job dude. i'm impressed. i mean really, i'm impressed. Lark.

if the game and fish did decide to not allow any permits in that unit, i think it's one of the slickest things they've ever done. i might quit bashin' em so much. i would imagine some outfitter (have no clue who but i could make a guess) got ahold of the landowner and said "hey dude, i'll give ya 5 grand for every hunter i take on your place if you'll lock it up and just let me take hunters on it". the rancher thinks about it and says "how many you talkin' about?" the outfitters says "well, it depends, but i should have several guys interested. and money ain't no object to these guys. they might pay even more". "ok" says the rancher "we got a deal. only you and your rich guys get to hunt here". so the azgfd says screw it, we just won't let out any permits, thus nobody can hunt anywhere in the unit and we'll starve em out. nobody can hunt in the unit, thus no rich guys can get drawn and shifty outfritter and mister landowner can't make a dime on the deal. i'm impressed. too bad it come to this, but i'm impressed. i'm sure lawsuits are to follow. i wonder if the guy who buys the auction tag can hunt there? it's in Az and such. this is interesting and is gonna be fun to watch. Lark.

folks had better be a lot more conerned about getting locked off of public land than griping about what little private land there is in this state. if the forest circus, blm and state land dept could, they would, and they continually look for ways to do it. Lark.

crap. stinkin' duke puke devils. the refs had to have cheated. ain't no other way for this too happen. yep, the fix is in. must be all that drug money that u of a gets that they are payin' off the refs with. Lark.

so what's the deal here? chimminychainga didn't show a photo of the meat so that means he left it in the canyon? i see a lotta photos of horns on here with no meat with em, so does that mean they all left it in the canyon? by the way, that's a dandy bull too. as far as pressure in 27, it depends on where you go. a lotta folks get around the outside of where the bulls hang out but few venture into the deep, brushy stuff after em. you can get as lost as you wanna get in that unit. but be ready for a hard hunt. 27 is a real unique place. Lark.

seems to me that most of the gripe with private land is that you can't drive across it to public land. get on ol' shanks mare and walk around or come in the other way. there are a lotta ways to access public land other than a vehicle. private land is "private" land. you can't condemn it because you want to drive across it. what if your neighbor behind you decides he can access his backyard easier through your backyard? you have to respect private landowners rights, even if sometimes they are jerks about it. look at the mess in aravaipa canyon a few years ago. took awhile, but legal finally won over illegal and stupid. checkerboard land is another problem all in it's own. there is public land between the private land, but it's been taken to court quite a few times, and you can't access the public land without permission of the private landowner, if he doesn't want you to. sucks, but that's the way it is. one thing that grates me is when these jerks lock up state trust land. you can hunt on it legally but there are sure a bunch of em that try to keep you from it. Az has very little private land compared to public land. go to colorado or new mexico or wyoming or montana or utah and you'll see what it's like to be locked out. about the only way you can make a landowner open his place to allow you to drive across it is if there is a road built or maintained by public money. i've hunted all over Az and i've never not hunted somewhere that i wanted to because of a locked gate on private land. if i want to hunt a place like that, i'll go around and come in a different way. someone on here was complaining about the 76 ranch locking people out. they do on the private land. seems like the 76 has around 10,000 acres of private land. but there are a jillion other ways to hunt the public land on it. takes a little work is all. i don't buy the private land "excuse" in Az. too much wide open country to hunt to worry about a few acres with a gate on it. if a landowner can be enticed to open his place up, great. but even if they can't, quit worrying about it and go hunting. if you can't find a place to hunt in Az, you can't find a place to hunt anywhere. Lark.

i think if you knew how to properly mispell words and use ccntractions in the wrong place, folks would think it was me who writ what you just wrote. that's zakly how i feel about it, only writ in a way that makes sense. everything has to be managed. there is no such thing as true wilderness in the lower 48. the country is criss crossed with roads, towns, highways, fences, canals, powerlines, citys, etc. the only wild country is the little places between these barriers. each little area should be managed for the area it is. you can't shotgun things. we've done fine without wolves for about 60 years. wolves are a tool to pry outdoorsmen and folks who make a living from the land, off of the land. the wolf has no importance to the treehuggers oustide of being the prybar. Lark.

better question is why are idiots considered people? there are a few things that there is no reason to shoot. birds of prey are one of them. even if it was legal, there isn't any reason to shoot one. like whales and elephants and rhinos and swans and stuff like that. why shoot one? when they're dead, they're just dead. if they do catch whatever @$$hole shot it, he can kiss a buncha money good by and plan on spending some time in the pokey. they are pretty rough on guys who shoot hawks and eagles.
