in the words of Doc Holliday, "Maybe poker just isn't your game, Ike. Maybe we should have a spelling contest?" Lark.

hey db, you do know them jack link's commercials ain't documentaries, don't ya? that's just a guy in a costume. really. i've been poked in the eye with a man eatin' turkey pecker, been attacked by killer cooter mondays, h e l l, i even seen a talkin' javelina, but i ain't never seen no bigfoot. well, outside o' the neighbor kid they kept chained up in the basement when i was a kid. he looked a lot like a bigfoot, but i don't think he was. Lark.

so what if you're like me, tall, good lookin', smart, rich, muscular, snakes die when the bite me, the guy on the beer commercial thinks i'm interestinger than him, and i'm smart. is it ok to hate me just cuz? Lark.

Lark.

bill, didn't the irish elk have big ol' sabre teeth sorta like the big prehistoric cats? i saw a skeleton on one once and it seems like it had big ol' tusks. i also either read or was told that the elk ivory is remnant of a big tusk that they used to have eons ago. you ever hear that? Lark.

your tax dollars at work. look at how tall they are. take a good look. go walk up to one and check it out. range it. how tall a crane will it take to work on one? what kinda lift capacity is it gonna need? i mean to do real work when one breaks down? these are very high maintenance rigs. the outboard bearing goes out a lot and the prop falls into the pedestal. they are very hard to synchronize with the grid. the U.S. is all 60 cycle power. that means the generator makes a spark 60 times a second, or 3600 rpm. these things have to put out 60 cycles or they won't work with the rest of the system. wind doesn't blow very constant. the propellor doesn't have to spin 3600 rpm because they have a gear increase in the head. when the wind blows too hard, a brake has to keep the generator spinning at the right rpm. sometimes you can take a generator and put extra posts in it and run 1800 rpm. these may be that way, but whatever the case, if they can't deliver 60 cycles you can't put them in the grid. anyway, the brakes heat up and catch fire, when the wind doesn't blow hard enough, you get no power, and you get very little power period, even from a giant farm. look at it as about one household for a windmill. these outfits build these farms and get gigantic gov't money to do it and pretty much walk away from them. when they breakdown, they just sit there. it's a great concept, but no one has done enough engineering yet to make windmills that are true power producers. they are a lot like the "free" solar water heaters that were so popular 25 years ago. you see any o' them around anymore? i drove past a gigantic farm in sw kansas awhile back. almost all of em were broke down. if they ever get serious about making windmills that will hold up and really make some power, they might be a good thing. but all these are is more gov't feel good welfare. somebody is gonna make a buncha money off it. and we get to foot the bill and suffer the true consequences. Lark.

if you read the wildlife proclomations and really think about em, you can't take a gun from your house, get in your vehicle and go hunting and come back and not break some sort of law or rule that is written in the rule book. before your hunt is over, you're gonna do something wrong, per the rules. either because there are so many rules that you don't know them all or you just make a mistake, like shoot too close a building or the old "road hunting" thing they like to use. (a friend of mine drove down a main, gov't maintained road in the morning and waved at a warden, then drove down it to go home that afternoon and saw the warden again and he pulled em over and said he would give them a ticket for road hunting if he saw them again. true story. same warden gave a guy a ticket for road hunting because he had a rifle on a legal, licensed quad on a main road. he got to eat the ticket before it was over, but he did cite him) or maybe you just don't care for some of the laws or whatever. but it is virtually impossible to take a gun and go hunting and not break some rule or law, at least in the eyes of the game and fish. if you're not just totaly and grossly stupid, you'll probably never get cited tho. anyway, back to my point, as long as you try real hard to do what is right, whether or not there is a law or rule about it, and don't go out of your way to be an @$$hole, then you're ok in my book. but when folks get greedy and spend all their time dreaming about getting their pitcher on the cover of a magazine and are really hunting in order to brag, showoff, or make up for "shortcomings" in physical areas or whatever then i have no use for ya. if you hunt hard and hunt right and still kill the big one, good for you. the big one is always my goal. but if you hunt for reasons other than the love of hunting and enjoying the outdoors and wildlife and plants and country, with folks you care about, then you're part of the problem. Lark.

i will keep applying. in my opinion too, the hardest part of shooting one is getting a tag. and whe i finally get drawn, i will enjoy it. i don't have a lot of experience with deserts, but a couple years ago we were up the apache trail to go quail hunting and a truly magnificent, i mean maybe a 200 incher, came walking along the road past us at maybe 10 feet. right where the fish creek hill starts down. i guess it was the legandary one that lives in that area. i don't know how he held up his horns. and he didn't even acknowledge that were there. i took a photo with my phone and promptly deleted it. i hate technology. the rockies must be tougher than heck or you would think the lions would wipe them out. i see rockis all the time when i'm deer hunting. saw a big one 2 years that would probably go in the 180's. i walked down to take some photos of it. i could have strung my recurve that i hadn't shot in 30 years on my way to him and killed him with it. wse were driving down the road to wildcat crossing once and 2 rams were laying in the road and wouldn't move. i drove within inches and honked my horn and the smaller one finally got up and moved to the edge of the road. the bigger one just laid there and kept swinging his horns and banging them into my winch mount. i kicked him in the butt a couple times and he finally moved. completely lazy and didn't care. that was prewolf tho. don't know if that made any difference or not. but they are purty and sure do wanna shoot one. Lark.

the last 2 posts are excellent. i still believe legal=ethical. simply because you never wanna try to legislate ethics. it will destroy us. right is right and wrong is wrong. there ain't no gray. do what you know is right and what you would have others do to you. if everyone respected everyone else things would be a lot better. but when you do come up across those that are jackasses, then i guess it's up to you what you do. Lark.

no,don't end the thread. you just win that particular argument. you can always start another argument. i didn't splain myself gooder enough. Lark.

i vote that we have a new rule on CW. when ya get kinda cornered in one of these heated BS sessions, you can just tell somebody "RON WHITE", and you automatically win the argument and whatever you said is automatically true. any seconds? if anybuddy disagrees, well RON WHITE! Lark.

the best thing i ever found for trailing blood, when it is sparse anyway, is little kids. they have great eyesight and they are a lot closer to the ground. you show a little kid what you are looking for and it is amazing what they can find. been multiple times over the years i winged something, went home and got my kids and they trailed it right up. but they ain't worth a dang and packin' anything out. i gotta a couple grandkids that are about ready to train. Lark.

only rebuttal to that one is like ron white said when he was on the debate team. when it was his turn to rebutt he said "OH YEAH? WELL F@#$ YOU!!". that's sorta the direction this thread has took and is the only reason i keep lookin' at it. Lark.
