    Pearl Harbor Remembrance day

hey Bill, it wasn't just some school. it was the school obama's kids go to. i've known a lotta WWII vets and a couple who were at pearl harbor that day. quite a deal. the japanese were some sick folks. anybody that reads this, read up on the "rape of nanking". google it or see if you can watch some of the documentaries on it. they fueled a power plant there with human bodies. after they had gassed and poisoned em and then did live autopsies on em with no sedative, to see how the gas and poison worked. did some really extensive studies on the chinese population of nanking. they were so good at it that after the war the US tried to protect a lotta the bad guys that did they studies because they wanted to pick their brains about the results. there were japanese armies in burma and it seems like maybe madagascar that didn't worry about packing food with them because they just killed the natives and ate them. i've also known a couple bataan survivors over the years. they suffered till the day they died. pearl harbor, bataan, the many pacific campaigns took a tremendous amount of American lives and our soldiers suffered horribly. but i think what they did to china and the other asian populations was even worse. the stories about the what they did to the koreans turn your stomach. it's good to remember, because once you forget, it doesn't matter anymore. and this kinda stuff needs to matter. Lark.
  2. i accidently posted this on the pistol deal too. anyone know if you can take blackpowder, pyrodex or caps on a commercial airliner? my son wants to go back to nebrasky for the muzzleloader season and he wants us to fly. i'm thinking no, but wanna know it anyone knows for sure. Lark.

you shoulda put out whole rolls o' toilet paper for that deal. i woulda needed more that bits and pieces. like the old guy at the huntin' club that was telling some youngsters a story about a lion that jumped out at him. he said it went "ROAR" and then he said, "well, i just $h!t myself". a youngster said "i would too if a lion jumped out and roared at me". the old timer said "no not then, just now when i said "ROAR"!! Jaguar

just wait until they are able to get some dna to breed with an elephant and make a wooly mamoth or a mastodon and turn this place into a wooly mammoth recovery area. i guarantee you someone is working on it. trying to save something that never existed, like a healthy population of jags, is a way to control the land. the animal doesn't matter. but the views of some liberal assed treehuggers do. it's all about someone else imposing their will on others that they don't like. plain and simple. if the animal mattered, then the success of the yellowstone wolf program would mean something. but it doesn't. they still want the control that they are about to lose. if the animal mattered, then 2 folks hired to manage wildlife wouldn't have gone out of their way to make decisions that ulimately caused the death of one of the few jags in the country, while they were supposed to be doing something else. decisions that they lied about and decisions that they were told to not make. it's an out of control bunch of dangerous folks that are callin' the shots. Lark.

Horse slaughter houses to open again

yep, the good ol' federal gov't has come up with some real fiasco's and instead of stepping back and looking at the truth they just keep pumping money into the program. the wildhorse act is one of the worst. the wolf deal is another. now we're gonna have the jags and polar bears. the polar bear one is really interesting. per all "their" studies, the numbers are going up right now. but they say it is because of the warm weather and that soon it will get too warm and the population will drop dramatically. i'd really like to see that crystal ball they have. you shoot burro now and see what happens. felony conviction and prison. you can kill a person and get off with less or maybe nothing. Lark.

    Erickson is out.....

i'm glad sumlin turned em down. a couple good years and one on a bubble don't mean he's a great coach. look what happened yesterday. on the other hand, he's lucky he turned it down. love is poison. (sounds like the title of a country song) i see now they are talking to june jones. the only people they can get interested are wierdos. he is an intersting guy who has had decent success but he ain't any long term answer to anything. and he is a bonafide wierdo. he was really goofy when he played. they hired ericson because nobody else with a decent resume would talk to em. that's why they got that jerk koetter too. asu has pretty much missed the ship at getting a good coach it looks. and i think as long as love there, it's gonna stay that way. they might pull it out and get somebody like petersen or something, but if they are talking to june jones, everbody else has told em to go away. Lark.

    deer neck

i've mentioned this before on here but right now when a lotta folks are gonna be flush with deer meat, i figgerd i'd do it again. and seein' as how i just got done with a green chili burro made out of it, it is fresh on my mind. we shot 2 really large bodied bucks in new mex last week and cut em yesterday. mine field dressed almost 250. big, fat, alfalfa fed buck about 7 years old. extremely fat. we are lucky enough that we usually end up with a fair amount o' game meat every year. we process it ourselves. have a big grinder to make burger and sausages and brats and whatever with too. and we like to get every bit o' meat we can off an animal. for a couple reasons. 1. it is good stuff and b. it is the right thing to do. i mean a critter died. you oughta make the most of it. anyway, one of the hardeat things to deal with is the neck. on anything. real hard to bone out and not leave a lot on the bone. real sinewy so it doesn't make the best burger. but it makes one heck of a roast. anything works great too. deer, elk, pronghorn, whatever. for many years we have been cooking the neck real slow, bone and all, and making either green chili or just shred it up. sometimes put them in the pit but usually just in the oven in a big pan or in one o' them roaster ovens you can buy. trim the fat off and clean it up. season it with salt, coarse black pepper and dried minced onions. you can use whatever else you want, but the more you do, the less you taste the deer. anyway, put em in whatever you're gonna cook em in, a big pot with lid or pan with a lid, if you're gonna do it in the oven, or in the roaster oven. just turn it up to 300 or so and leave it there for 12-18 hours. depends on how much meat you use. these necks my wife did yesterday were really big so they were about 18 hours. when it falls off the bone it is done. when it is done, the neck bone just comes out. not a speck o' meat on it. then she takes it and shreds it up and makes green chili outta about half of it and the rest she leaves like it is. puts it in vac packed deals of a couple pounds each and toss it in the freezer. it you wanna make bbq or enchiladas or shredded tacos, whatever, you nuke package and go to town. this same method works really well on the lower legs, front and year, too. chunk it all in the pot and cook it up. you get every bit of meat there is. nothing is left on the bone. and all the sinew dissolves into juice and makes it taste excellent. anyway, if you wanna a real simple way to make some great groceries that are really handy to have around, try this. don't ever throw away a neck or lower leg. if you do it right, it is some of the best meat there is. you'll be wishin' they were all neck meat. a guy needs to utilize every bit of meat he can. it's the "ethical" thing to do. and this is a great way to do it. try it. Lark.

    Macho B Jr. sighting!!!

last i knew he was still kickin'. he was an ol' outlaw but he knew hounds and critters like nobody. he had his "power dogs". interesting concept. especially for bears. i'm pretty sure he did both bear and lion "canned" hunts. he would catch wild animals, but he kept em penned up until he could get a hunter there. there have been several guys that got in trouble for that. he lived in young last i knew. about 12 years or so ago i was driving through there and saw a sign on the side of the road advertising his oufitting company by his house. lived a little ways north of "town". only met him once and that was a long time ago and he was old then. i found him real interesting. i'm pretty sure he pulled the big runner and went to belize after he got busted. but i don't know if it was after the Az or new mex bust. an article i read said his address was listed as new mexico and belize when he was found guilty of the federal stuff. his trial was in idaho. if you google his name there is an old article from a sports illustrated that talks about it some. come to think of it, i've knowed a lotta bonafide outlaws over the years. maybe i need to start keepin' better company. i think the theory of zoos and pets for the jags and the leopard sounds pretty believable. never was up close to a jag but the guys i know that have talk like you ain't gonna rope a wild one and tie it up like a lotta folks have mt lions or bears. i think a jag is nothin' but spotted death walkin' around when he decides to fight. they are one cool critter. here is another article i found. says he wasn't convicted of any game violations but rather for importing animals without a permit. said it wasn't illegal to shoot pen raised animals. it's kinda funny. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=861&dat=19731228&id=5VodAAAAIBAJ&sjid=DVoEAAAAIBAJ&pg=6182,4860836 Lark.

    Macho B Jr. sighting!!!

as far as Az is from real jag country i would suspect that what we see are males looking for a mate. this just ain't jag country. they are at home in jungles and water. all we have ever had here is what they call a transient population. i've read the same thing about the spotted owls. macho b was snared by an azgfd biologist. who was supposed to be snaring bears or lions, and some hairy armpitted hippie broad that worked for some so called jag defense agency or some deal. they actually stoled jag crap from a zoo to bait him in with and then lied about it. that's why the azgfd employee got fired. the stress of the capture is significant even on healthy animals, and after a couple days they decided to euthanize him. said he was dieing of kindey failure. nobody really knows for sure if the snaring caused it to speed up or what the deal was, but the fact remains that if they would have left him alone the poor ol' critter coulda died on his own terms. instead he died that way. casey is right. without the unauthorized and possible illegal interference of an agent of the azgfd, we wouldn't be having this arguement. the azgfd lost a lotta credibility and crapped all over themselves on this deal. they handled it very poorly from the snaring to the investigation and ended up having to eat their own to save face. last i knew, the lawsuits are ongoing. i truly hoped the folks involved were prosecuted, but it don't look like that will happen. weren't the jags curtis got in trouble over pets he bought from somebody? at least one cat was a leopard. seems like some lions might have been involved too. i can't imagine anybody hauling a caged jag from south America to the states without gettin' his head ate off. and the trouble he got it was in new mex too. jags are one cool cat. big and deadly and mean. dog fighters extraordinaire. but we ain't never had more than a few lost ones in the states. that's why we still see one every once in a while. the keep wandering around. i don't think any of em are born even near here. but if we ain't careful they will turn into a bigger fiasco that the stinkin' wolf dogs. Lark.

i know a guy that's heavily involved in corn juice fuel. he said without the gov't subsidy it's a big time loser. with it, you make jillions. the biggest reason for the horse problem is the economy stinks period. folks have had to make big changes and a lot of em shucked the horses. too bad too. i really like horses.
