don't confuse road and vehicle. unless you are properly licensed, you can't shoot from a vehicle for any reason. you can shoot from, acros or into a non maintained road. i'm pretty sure a private road doesn't count either, even it is maintained every day. if you couldn't shoot across any road, there are a lotta canyons with two trackers in the bottom that you wouldn't be able to shoot across. as far as speed goes, where does that come from? is there a certain speed you hafta go or it's road hunting? this whole thing is an unfortunate deal. glad it wasn't a tragedy. a guide got killed in new mex a couple years ago by a guy looking at a dead elk through his scope. but just because someone is driving down a road doesn't make em a criminal or even a bad guy. they are just driving down the road and saw a deer. we've all done it. another thing you'll never hear these morons say is that the gray wolf and mexican wolf were all eliminated by gov't program and gov't employees. the last known gray wolves were a female and some cubs captured by a forest ranger. he killed the female and let his kids play with the cubs for awhile and then drowned em. if you look around, there are photos of the cubs with the kids playing with em. there are so many contradictions with the endangered species act and how it is administered that it's no longer even funny. they have a real chance to do something good with the condors because they actually have condors. something they don't have with mexican wolves or the grays. they are extinct. the ones they turned loose in the yellowstone country are a subspecies called a mackenzie valley wolf or some deal. but instead of doing real work with the condors they just say that hunters are killing them with lead bullets. it's about control. period. if you want to eat the bull$h!t and drink the treehugger koolaid and puke it up for others to consume, that's your prerogative. but don't get upset when folks who are capable of thinking for themselves won't swallow it along with you. i have read in the official documents offered originally by the usfw and it even questioned the heritage of the animals. and i have backed 2 different guys into a corner who are involved in the wolf program and they admitted that every animal is part dog. that's good enough for me. as far as the condors and lead, here is a little equation for you. you can add the numbers as you see fit. there were 694 deer killed in unit 12a last year. per the game and fish numbers for permits allowed, for all hunts, and then calculating it from the kill percentage. don't know how accurate they are, but that's all i could finde. 12a is the unit that seems to cause the most concern with the condor folks. i haven't heard of em crying about 12b or the strip or even the country around the south rim. only 12a. 12b and the strip don't offer a big number of permits anyway, but you are welcome to use those numbers too if that is what it takes to make your case. now subtract the number of deer killed with all copper bullets. i don't know how many, but this number is significant. pure copper bullets are very popular with hunters and account for a very large portion of the total number of hunting bullets sold every year. so i think even you can agree that no deer killed with all copper bullets can be used. most deer are killed with shoulder or rib shots to the vitals. if you listen to the crap the huggers put out they are all gutshot multiple times and the bullets explode into little pieces. but i don't think that is the case. most deer are killed with a decent shot to the vitals. a lot of these bullets are pass through shots where the bullet flies off and lands somewhere else or it stays in the meat, under the skin, on the offside of the shot, and isn't left in the field. it doesn't stay in the offall that is usually left in the field. now subtract that number from the total. use whatever number you want. a few folks pack their deer out whole, especially ones that are killed by the road, and they are dressed out elsewhere and the guts are disposed of elsewhere. this might be a small number, but we aren't talking about a big number to start with, so even if it is just a few, it is significant in the equation. again, use whatever number you want, but subtract it from the total. i've shot a lotta deer. i mean a lot. and i've hit some in the guts. most of the bullets that hit the guts are also pass throughs. well, i won't say most, because i don't know about any but the ones i've seen. but that's my experience. and the bullets usually stay whole. they don't hit bones and stuff that cause them to blow up. again, might be a small number, but it is significant to this equation. subtract it from the total. whatever number you want to use. now, another number you can subtract. coyotes. how many gutpiles do they get rid of? how many bullets do they eat and crap out someplace else? might be a small number again, but it has to happen. subtract that number. how many of these bullets in the guts are eaten by other birds? we'll make it an easy one to use and just include eagles, vultures and ravens. all of which inhabit the same areas that the condors do and they all compete with each other for the tasty, lead contaminated guts. use whatever you want and subtract it. and there's gotta be a few gutpiles they don't find. and quite a few gutpiles that don't end up with bullets in them, etc. now come up with a number from the original 694. you can even round it up to 700. or use whatever number you want. i'm sure the condor people do. so now, how many of these vile, lead contaminated, condor killing gutpiles are there out there? and then the condors must be real careful at picking through and making sure they get all the lead and then making sure it sticks in their gizzards and gets ground up into dust and then kills em. so come up with whatever number you want. it is considerably smaller than the original 694. it will truthfully only be a small fraction of the original number. and that is what is killing all the condors? i don't buy that. so figure up your number. doesn't really matter to me, because i'm a nonbeliever. and no i don't think the earth is flat. and i really don't care where obama was born. but if you figure up just how few bullets are left in gutpiles and think about it a little you might be able to understand where a freethinker with only half a brain might come to the conclusion that if condors truly are getting lead poisoning, they may getting a lot of it elsewhere. i don't where the elsewhere is, but it seems to me that bullets might not be a significant contributor? so i just watched montana kill northern iowa. the small colleges have figgerd out how to have a playoff ever year. you'd think the bcs could figger it out, but for some reason they ain't yet. anyway, montana was shark guttin' iowa and toward the end of the game they put in a new quarterback. who's name was montana. nate montana. joe's kid. thought it was kinda funny. i remember a few years back some town in montana was gonna change their name to joe. never heard if they did. then why don't we hear about it? eagles, hawks, turkey vultures, they're all protected too. even ravens enjoy some protection. why isn't there any outrage about it and why don't we ever hear about it? maybe there are some things you don't want to understand? it won't be long and the strip and kaibab will off limits to hunters anyway. after they realease the wolves they will need all the deer to eat so the condors can eat the leftovers. i don't buy the lead deal. every bird up there would be getting it, along with the condors and they would be using that as ammo to take your ammo. why aren't these other birds dropping dead everywhere? their are a lot more deer killed all over the state than their are up there. these guys don't waste any opportunity to take things away. there isn't an arguement anyone can come up with that makes any sense. you can say all you want about how their gizzard works and whatever, but eagles, vultures and big hawks are big enough to ingest bullets too. do they have some immunity to lead? i don't buy it. these jokers have been caught too many times manufacturing evicence and covering up and fabricating stuff. i don't believe em. you can if you want. me and a good pal used to go to the big game every year. he is a who of a grad. we had some good times and almost got killed a couple times. i won't even say what for about at least one incident because them guys are still lookin' for me for what i did at the game in tucson. once he was walkin' down the steps at sun devil stadium with his who of a stuff on and who of a was givin' us a butt whoopin. he had his hands fulla drinks and popcorn and some jerk kicked him the back and he literally went head over heels down the steps. almost killed him. so then i got in a big fist fight with a buncha devil fans, while i had on a asu hat, tryin' to help him out. got in a real good one after the game with the same couple guys. they lost bad too. morons. even the sun devils have a few stupid fans. felt wierd, but true friendship is deeper than my asu loyalty i guess. the next year i caused a small riot at tucson for one of my best tricks ever. that was the most pissed off buncha guys i ever seen. i still laugh till i cry about it. and it was a good thing i was a lot younger and could still run!!! and he was runnin' with me, from the who of a fans. that was the last time i went a game there. went to a basketball tournament with my brother in law, another lowly who of a grad, and spent more time lookin' for them guys i pissed off a couple years before at the football game than i did at the game. i actually did root for who of a once when they played miami in the fiesta bowl. the desert swarm beat erickson's team. but i think that was the only time i was on their side. usually if who of a was playin' iran, i would root for iran. i've put a couple of the simms pads on my hard kickers and they really tamed em down. only rifle i have with a brake is Farkiller, my .300. when the guy machined the barrel he ordered a blank long enough that he could make the brake part of the barrel. no idea what he charges. i'd rather not use a brake because of the stinkin' noise. seems like i can't ever find my ear plugs when i'm hunting and need to shoot. but i had to have a total shoulder joint replacement a few years ago and it gets sorta sore when i shoot a real thumper much. but try one of the simms pads. they really make a difference.
