  1. i'd get a .22 or .22 mag. ammo is a lot cheaper and they are a lot more fun to shoot. you'll use it a lot more just having fun, than you ever will to get out of a jam. get a 4 inch ruger mark II if you want an auto. a single six if you want a single action revolver or maybe a taurus if you want a double action. and a .22, especially a .22 mag, is very deadly for self defense and a lot easier to get decent with as far accuracy. and the guy you shoot with it won't think that just because it's a .22 it won't hurt. ya don't really need earplugs if you have to shoot at something either. somebody makes a .22 mag auto now that holds 30 rounds, but you can't find one anywhere. i'd love to have one. Deer chops

my favorite way, especially for backstap, is to slice it fairly thin, 1/4 to 3/8 inch, salt and pepper, never any garlic of other foofoo stuff, flop it in flour and fry it well done. even a little crispy on the edges, make some gravy and biscuits and chow down. my wife has been cutting some of it sorta thick, 1/2 inch or more, olive oil and salt and pepper and cooks it on the george foreman. it ain't bad, but there ain't anything to make gravy with. 3. yeah but kent, ya hafta remember that we are like the iraqis who ran off all o' saddaam's loyalists, not realizing how important those backstabbin', murderin' rats really were. we're too dumb to realize how smart these guys really are and we need them to lead out us out of the darkness. even tho they tried the big tag grab and failed, we should trust them to run a different organization that this time, will definitely not try something like that again. just because they won't answer a few simple questions, is no reason to suspect anybody is gonna try to slip in another tag grab. all i need to know is where to send the check. i've seen the light. when i was told i was just like saddams's buddies, it really cleared things up. i don't know about the rest o' you morons, but now i'm a member of the baath mob. and proud of it. Weiers memo

not from pbj or the sfw guys he gets his marching orders from. he has selective answering disease. he only answers the questions the sfw guys select. Lark.
  7. Now that's the best one you've told yet. What is all this justification about then? Telling us about gross misunderstandings and such. Sfw and their cronies are liars and thieves. Luckily Az got wind of your shenanagins before you got your tags. Go work a banquet. Lark.
  8. this paragraph says a lot: States agencies get a cut of the money, but just how much varies from state to state. The money is big, but accountability is poor. The tags essentially give the rich a chance to cut to the front of the line and avoid the rules others must abide by. i find it real intersting that guys like pbj, who are out beating the sfw drum to no end, say they never heard of this guy. one of their own. a guy who got rewarded with a real nice job and then turned around got pinched by the very department that he presided over. can anyone else see the irony here? i'm sure pbj and the other sfw guys will say, this is just one guy. this isn't "just" one guy. this guy was tied in with sfw so tight it ain't funny. he used that relationship to get appointed to be the boss of alaskan hunting, then used that job to give permits, that are the crown jewel of alaskan hunting, back to the rich guys that pulled the strings to get him appointed and now those same guys say they never heard of this situation. this is "their" guy. hand picked by sfw. he is their boy, and now their problem. sfw is a buncha crooks. liars and thieves. we narrowly averted this same situation here. so far we haven't had sfw pick a director for us. but they are trying hard to get set up to pick the comissioners. folks need to be aware of the possibilities of the situation. do you want Az to end up where utah and alaska are now? i wonder how many other states these guys are getting ready to rape, pillage and plunder the wildlife? be vigilant fellers. we may not have a lotta money, but we have a lotta guys and a lotta muscle and sfw and folks who support em need to understand that. Lark.

    Application with a Lifetime License

being a resident hunter and residency are a little different. you can be a resident of any state you want to be, for hunting purposes, but you can only be a resident of one state at a time. even if you actually live in another state and have residency of that state, you can still get a resident Az license and pay resident Az tag fees, but you can't be a resident hunter of another state at the same time. even if you own land in multiple states or whatever. you need to talk to the azgfd and get a concrete determination of your status. i've known of guys who were resident Az hunters who lived in a different state. but they had to hunt nonresident everywhere else. a friend of mine got a sheep tag once, or exfriend after he got a sheep tag. he went to some sort of class about bighorns before the hunt and there was a guy there that got drawn too, and they took his tag away, because he applied as an Az resident and had a resident colorado license also. he figured that because he had a home in both states, he was a resident of both states. i guess he was a real sad guy when they invalidated his tag. call the azgfd and get them to clear it up for you. Wallow Fire

the problem with the usfs is it is a burro-acracy and it is runs by burros. when they try to get funding and then if they do secure the funding, the first thing they do is see how many jobs they can create and how many promotions they can wrangle out of it, then if there is money left to do the work, they might get a little done. it's an age old story of how the gov't works. when they get money for road work or a new building or anything you can think of, the last thing that sees the money is the actual work. time and time again burrocrats will spend everything they get for a job getting ready for the job and be outta money for the project before the project truly gets started. anyone can see we need to cut trees. or did, the wallow fire took care of a lotta stuff. they know they should, or should have, cut trees. but red tape is a real thing and when dozens of burrocrats have input in a project and all have to sign off on it, this is what happens. throw in the treehuggers filing lawsuits of virtually everything and you have a reg'lar ol' catch 22. i used to know a guy that was an equipt operator for the forest circus. ran into him during the late elk hunt, blading the roads in late nov. about a foot of snow already all the road. i stopped and bs'd for a minute and axed why he was blading it this time of year. they would be snowed in in another week or so. he said they had some money left in their budget for the fiscal year and had to spend it or lose it, so they were blading roads like crazy to spend it all. they should have gave everyone a xmas bonus instead. it would have done some good that way. they bladed roads that were going to be in deep snow and see no traffic until late spring and then they would be a quagmire of mud that would be rutted up by spring traffic. burro-cracies are not very efficient. Lark.

    question

duck feathers? maybe it was aliens. c'mon guys, folks put em there. usually the rancher. when i was kid just about every pond, water trough and tank had goldfish in it. my grandad would always put them there because he thought they helped keep the moss down. when i was a kid the spring was drying up at a place we called the lamb hotel and we took some barrels in and rescued all the goldfish and transported them to a steel tank because my grandad didn't want his poor goldfish to die. i can think of a dozen places right now that have goldfish in them. used to be every stock tank on the san carlos rez had trout in it. stocked by the azgfd. now most of them have bass and catfish now. Lark.

    Shame on you

we could always start up a traditional bow huntin' club. call it hunt nekked. alls ya can wear is a weiner gourd. and ya hafta use either a bow and arrows ya either made yourself or stoled from somebody else that made em. i have an official new guinea weiner gourd that i bought at a gunshow a couple years ago. i'll sell it anybody that wants to join up. it even came with a certificate of authenticity. me and my neighbor each bought one. i tried it on, so ya might wanna wash it off some. how 'bout it tradbowboy? wanna join up? i quit usin a recurve 30 years ago and i bet i have killed more stuff with one than you ever will. when i got my first compound i became a regular plague. Wallow Fire

there are a few mills still running. there was one at the springerville airport. i think it is up and running. there is one in showlow also. reidheads have both of them. the thing about a lot of the wallow timber is that it isn't worth anything. it's burned to the point that it can't be used. what stunk about rodeo wood was that it was in fairly good shape. the fire burned through fast and didn't destroy the value. the tribe made a fortune off it. a lot of the wallow fire torched things into matchsticks. Lark.

    Wallow Fire

a big part of the trees aren't salvageable as far using for lumber. too badly burned and like brian said, rough country where it isn't econmical to get em out. i was impressed that they almost immediately let out timber contracts. after the rodeo fire, the huggers held it up in court until the wood turned blue and wasn't any good for lumber. the usfs didn't wait for any lawsuits, they let sold the timber and let the huggers whine. i'm sure there will be lawsuits to follow. snow is too deep right now in most places too. dead trees are only good for lumber for maybe a year before they get a fungus or mildew inside. they call it turning blue. the usfs deserves a lotta criticism at times, but timber salvage after the wallow fire ain't one of em. Lark.
  19. even with a .22 you need to use subsonic ammo for it to be very quiet. i don't see what the big deal is about just uaing ear plugs? silencers aren't gonna have much affect on a .300 ultra. and they are real expensive and you have to get a class 3 license. same as a machine gun. you open yourself up to all kindsa fed stuff with that. if folks want one, fine. but i don't see a need for one for what i do. when i shoot coyotes in my chicken coop in the middle of the night with a 12 guage, my neighbors might appreciate one. Lark.

  21. audsley Go back and read your last post and see if you can find anything that is so far over the line as to reflect poorly on this forum. you really want to call us a mob? sfw is getting what they deserve, and not because of a mob. because they are liars and thieves. they did the same thing in utah and alaska that they tried here. i don't think financial survival was their plan. grabbing tags for rich guys was. only reason they involved the other groups was to give them some credibility and so they could say that these other groups supported it too. just like utah and alaska. folks can argue all they want about sfw's true intent. but we all know what the outcome would have been. intent is purely subjective here. they can say whatever they want, but it's really apparant what would have happened. and if they think they are catching hel l now, if they would have succeeded, you would have seen a mob. a really ugly one. a mob, really? some guys voice their opinions and they are a mob? are you the new pbj? seriously, a mob? or did i grossly misunderstand you? Lark.
  22. Just like farming. When you get a field full of weeds you plow it under and replant. And involve anyone that enjoys the outdoors that can tolerate what others like to do without trying to change them. Anglers, birdwatchers, campers, hikers, etc. So they can see how they benefit from the thIngs we do. But don't let any of these career "politicians" join. Lark.
