    Replacing a Radiator

  3. This article says a lot. Who cares about the tree huggers. We know they're liars. What I find interesting is that he raised he l l when they built usury and it was at least a mile from his house. But then he went and bought land that was landlocked by usury and tried to get it shut down again. Real interesting. Some odd behavior. "oh no, this place is too noisy, but wait, let me buy more land even closer to the gun range and try to get it shut down again. Another thing that is sorta concerning is the fact that this thread hasnt raised more outrage at this cheese weasel than it has. Lark.
  4. I'm sure that wiers creep that sponsored the tag grab had a good NRA rating too. In fact, wasn't the NRA in favor of it? Or was that USO fiasco? I know they were in favor of one of em. This guy is as cheesy as they get. When he was a rep before he was involved in some really stupid legislation. If anyone can find articles about how tried to shut down usery pass, they need to post em. On this deal jlw posted it says he is 64%. I think Clinton was about that. He was also a life member. Politicians will do anything that lines their pockets. Don't be surprised by anything. Somebody needs to remind the NRA of what cheese weasel tried. And he had a buncha pals that helped him too. He wasn't alone. In fact, whatever it was that was gonna shut the range down, I don't think hr did it. As I recall, His crony's did it is a gift to him because he was retiring from the house. Lark.
  5. That coyote is running again? What a snake. As I recall, he got his state house buddies to do away with the range with a stroke of the pen while he was on his way out so he could develop land locked property he bought. Under total cover of darkness. There was so much backlash, and I mean immediate and severe backlash, that they unstroked their decision real quick. You're right, he's a greasy weasel for sure. If you have any of the old articles handy you should post em and show folks what kinda guy he is. The NRA is actually recommending him? Do they not have a memory? Whoever is running against him is a better choice. Even if it's an obamacrat. Lark.

.270Win or Weatherby 7MM for Cow Hunt

Why waste time arguing about it. The .270 should always be your first choice in all situations. The real argument should be what kinda truck to use when you go. Dodge, chevy, ford or rice grinder? Lark.
  7. Years ago I shot lots of honkers every year. They tend to be dry. Pluck the whole thing is best. Go buy a big, fat yella chicken and peel the skin off and mold it over the goose, fat and all. Stuff it like a turkey and stick in the oven until it's done. Taste a lot like roast beef. Never found any other way where they were very good. Meat is real dark and tends tone kinda tough. Lark.

Shelby shot it. She will probably post something soon. I will add that it was on a youth hunt. Lark.
  9. Get a .243. 7-08 is the only gun endorsed by peta and the Sierra club. Lark.

    ruger lcp 380

The most important thing a personal defense gun has to do is go bang when you pull the trigger. 99% of all baggy pants punks will scream like a little girl and run away real fast if you send lead in their direction. The other 1% will fall on the ground and piss their pants. You don't even hafta hit em. Gut shoot the baddest guy around and he's done with the fight. That's why I say a good .22 is a good choice. The lcp is a good choice too. So is the lc9, lady smith, judge, 1911, etc. Get a reliable gun that goes bang when you want it too. And spend enough time with it to make it do it's job. Get something you're confident with. Lark.

    breast or full bird?

First off, whoever said leave any meat is a moron. As far as I'm concerned, wild turkey is a pure mountain delicacy and every ounce should be eaten. They are every bit as good and very similar in flavor to pheasant, quail, grouse and all upland birds. If you want to bake it in the oven with stuffing and such you need to pluck it. If you want to pluck it, you should do it immediately after the kill. Wait a half hour and you will need pliers to pull the feathers. Trust me. Take a couple photos and go to pluckin'. Really. Don't worry about the tail or last joint of the wings. Cut them off after you pluck it. They bake up better than a butterball. Excellent if you are a decent cook. Pluck the neck and everything. When you're done, gut it out. Save the gizzard, heart and liver for giblet gravy. Be sure and pull out the craw. It's the bag stuff stays in before it works through the gizzard. Located where the neck goes into breast. Might have a few little feather tips and stuff left, but get it plucked quickly. Another way we really like turkey is fried. Not dunked in a pot o' boiling peanut oil, though they are probably good that way. But instead of plucking it, skin it. Then bone it out. Breast, legs, wings, back, all of it. Cut off all the meat. Then slice it up into pieces about as long as your finger or maybe a little longer and about as big as your thumb in thickness. Then bread and fry it just like you would chicken. Excellent. Wild turkey is as good or better than anything else the woods offer. Also, when youre done you will feel little creepy crawlys on you. Poultry lice. Don't worry, they can't live on you and die in a few hours. Have fun. Lark.

    Help with .270 Reload

Those are some really weak velocities. Id be perplexed too. Another bit of advice. Forget about "energy". All energy, knockdown, lbs/ft, etc are is numbers on a piece of paper. The type of bullet, where you hit it, bullet diameter, etc have more to do with the reaction of the animal than energy. If energy meant anything then you wouldn't be able to kill anything with a bow. A full metal jacket has the same energy as a any like weight bullet with the same velocity. Is a fmj gonna hit as hard as a softpoint? Nope. Its gonna zip on thru. Put your effort into accuracy with a bullet designed for what you want to do. Lbs/ft deals with specific laws of physics. A deer or elk don't. If you're shooting tanks or buildings or other types of armor, it matters. They don't give unless you hit em hard enough. Animals ain't like that. Lark.

How to get a Polaris Ranger quieter...

Buy a new one. Transmission makes more noise than the engine in mine. A lot more. All of em I've been in are that way. New ones are a lot quieter. Mine is an 09. The new ones with the big engines are much quieter. Don't know how, guess the trans is insulated more or something. I like mine. Been a great rig. But I want a new one with power steering, heater, big motor and quiet. Lark.

    Help with .270 Reload

First place I'd look is COL. Could be too far off the lands. Some rifles have really long throats. All of em are a little different. It can have drastic affect on your velocity, pressure, group size, etc. What the book says doesnt mean much. Lark.

If they ever add jumping to conclusions to the olympics there are several folks here that could contend for the gold medal. Lark.
  20. Hillary? I thought she had a camel toe?
  21. There is a place called teds just east of home depot in qc. Google them. I'm sure they can help. Best thing is to take a buncha ammo and go to the desert. If your lcp is jamming, oil the heck out of it. Maybe get a can of gun scrubber and hose it out. Then get a can of aresol lube and drench it internally. Rack it several times and shoot the heck out of it. Might try some pantheon lube if you can find it. Its "green", synthetic, works better than anything I've ever tried. They have a website. My wife's lcp has never hiccuped. She shoots it all the time. Luckily she ain't hit me yet. Lark.
  22. A stamp 'IS REQUIRED'. Don't get yourself in trouble. Some license packages have it included. When you buy your license you should get one each year. Along with a lion tag. Grouse are a neat animal. Not the easiest to hunt because they don't make much noise and don't leave tracks. But when you're poking around in the dark stuff on the north sides of ridges you can see all kindsa things to keep you interested. They ain't much for wing shooting. So dont think you're not being sporting to shoot one on the ground or off a limb. And they are great to eat. About the size of those Cornish game hens. Sometimes bigger. My boy shot one like a chicken once. Literally so tough you couldn't eat it. Don't just cook the breast. The legs and wings have lotsa meat on em. Bread and fry like a quail and make gravy from the leavins. Not bad on a green stick spit either. Need to pluck em tho for that. You can stuff a bunch and cook em in the oven too. Grouse are a very overlooked opportunity to enjoy. Lark.
  23. I've shot lots o' grouse with a bow and a shotgun. To me a .410 is ideal. I use 8 shot. 6 is fine. Light loads. Grouse are so tame that when I'd see em I'd hafta back with a 12 or 20 gauge to keep from tearing them up. Double barrel side by side .410 is perfect. Seem to like the north sides best. They aren't hard to kill. Bigger than a quail. Real good food. Real good. In Colorado a .22 useta be legal, might still be, but az is shotgun or bow only. You need a stamp too. Good luck. Lark.
  24. I shot 2 today. Used my bolt action .410 bear stinger. 2 1/2 inch 8 shot. Shot 2 shells. Got 2 bandtails. Going to get them stuffed and put em in the rafters of the Nuevo Rancho Neglecto. Season lasts another week. Lark.

The lack of info on this almost 48 hours later is astounding. Probably shot him for driving the wrong way in a camp ground. Lark.
