i've been trying to get a sheep tag for over 40 years. and every year folks with no points get drawn. took me 24 years to get my first and only Az goat tag and that was 21 years ago. i know folks in their 20's that have been drawn 3 times. know one guy that was drawn 3 years out of 4. all rifle hunts. there should be a 10 year minimum on sheep at least. goat, i don't know. a guy can go to other states pretty easy. we usually always hunt colorado every year. but i just got a $135 deduct from my debit card, so i'm happy and feel really fortunate today. Son and son in law did too. i just applied for u1 rifle hunts so i got a good tag. and it seems like i've hunted that unit a little. Lark.

i agree Bill, dove ain't nothin' but livers with wings, if ya ax me. my favorite is a tie, pronghorn and 2 year old desert muley buck. elk runs a close second. cut thin, little salt and black pepper, flop it in flour, fry it in a hot pan with new grease. then make gravy with the crunchys and some bisuits. cant eat javelina. and i'm tough. tried too many times. rank. lion, ok. bear, if i'm starvin'. coyote, ugh, you don't wanna know. wild turkey, quail, pheasant, grouse, food of the gods, for special occasions. all fish except carp, mmmmmmmmm. wyguy, if you understand that logging is a good thing, then what are you complaining about? you didn't get to go to specific place one time? go somewhere else. as far as damage, they hafta clean it up. you can't "damage" dirt. smooth it out, it'll be fine. i'll bet the road you drove there on was originally built by loggers. but because you were inconvenienced one time, it's a national travesty? maybe it was closed because they are logging close to the road and they didn't want you to get a 36 inch ponderosa across your cab? i had to detour around a buncha road construction to get to the airport in chicago the other day. i guess they better clean it up before i fly out again so i can just scoot right on into the city without any problems. quit gripin' about folks that make their living from the land. go spend a week bumpin' knots or setting chokers and see what these guys do to earn their way and then see if you wanna gripe about it. just because somebody does something that inconveniences you doesn't mean it is a bad thing or dare i say it, unethical. if i ax nice will somebuddy splain green tip ammo? i shoot a lotta .223 ammo. in my remington 788 rifle and an ar-15. all hollowpoints and some soft points. even have a few plastic tipped 40 grainers i loaded specially for 'splodin' coyotes. i've loaded a few fmj's over the years. but what is a green tip. guess i've never seen one. seen ap's and stuff. loaded a buncha 30 cal military ap's with the hardened steel rod inside once in my .300 because i was pissed off about some stuff. but ain't ever seen a green tip. are they a steel jacket? do they have a steel rod in em? or are they just an fmj? what's the deal? there's a surefire way to access all these millions of locked up acres folks seem to think Az has (go to about any other state and see what kinda private land they have) it's called walking. get on ol' shanks mare and hump it in. there are a few checkerboard places that a guy doesn't have much access to, but for the most part Az is wide open. azgfd has something else in mind and they are using this as an excuse to do it. bite the bullet and get a good one. we have the biggest one cabelas offers. i think it's 1 3/4 hp. whatever, it's their biggest one. i wouldn't mind having a bigger one. there is a placed called industries in an industrial park south between 1-10 and the airport that sells commercial grinders. but most of them are 220 and some are 3 phase. with the cabelas grinder we bought the burger tube equipment and the tape dispenser. everything was around a grand. if you and your bunch hunt much you can save that much in a season. and you know what you're getting and can cut it up the way "YOU" like it. we also got a couple of the real good vacuum packers. i learned how to butcher years ago in a butcher shop in a grocery store so i have a leg up. but it ain't all that hard to master. at least to get good enough to please yourself. and then you can start makin' all kindsa stuff like venison chorizo and elk brats and sausage and on and on. it's a little spendy, but get a big grinder. once you do you'll always be happy with what you get back from the butcher. it isn't real safe to load pointy tipped centerfire ammo in a tube magazine because there is chance that the tip of a bullet can hit the primer of the shell in front of it hard enough to make it fire, during recoil. they put the spirals in the mag tube so that tips of the bullets will be cocked off a little and not hit the primer in front of it, making it safe to use spitzer and other pointy ammo. i lust for a model 14 in .25 remington. they are fine old rifles. be sure you hang on to it so you can pass it on to someone who will keep it and pass it on. if it's a model 14 it could be over 100 years old too. the newest a 141 or 14 cn be is about 75 years old.
