yup, joint use. us poor hunters have to share "our" land with anglers, bike riders, campers, birdwatchers, sight seers, atv'ers, cowboys, loggers, woodcutters, the forest circus, etc, etc, etc. in Az we have a real blessing in the amount of public land we have, and it's there for us all to use. i got screwed up a little on a spring turkey hunt by bird watchers once. i mean a van full o' real life nerds with bird books, binos, bird calls, goofy pants and hats. kinda ticked me off but before it was over i was kinda intrigued by bird watchin', i was more interested in watchin' a tommygobbler and then blastin' him, but after bein' around these folks for a few minutes and realizing how interested they were in their hobby, i came away with a little more respect for them. they had no problem with me blastin' a turk either. wanted to see one up close if i shot one. when i get the opportunity, i like to hear elk whistle. if i'm afraid o' bustin' a hunter, i'll walk away. main thing is to don't be stupid. as i get older i find more enjoyment in just watching animals. as hunters and anglers, we pay the bulk of the cash needed to support the wildlife that everyone enjoys. but it doesn't give us more right. those other folks can all vote too. remember that. if you wanna listen to elk, have at it, just keep in mind that there may be folks wanting to shoot the same elk. guess i'm gonna hafta find me a refuge so i can be a poacher, like su says i am already. saw a deal on robot chicken one night about happy weasel stompin' day. maybe we oughta have a snake stompin' day. get off your rockin' horse su. nobody ever said anything about killing every snake. quit gettin' your guts all twisted up over something doesn't make any difference. i've accidently ran over a few gopher snakes, go outta my way to not harm them or kings. never killed a coral snake, seen a bunch of em. but i'll kill every rattler i see. don't hang out on refuges like some folks must do, so i ain't too worried about that. if you knew how well i think wolf, condor, spotted owl and black footed ferrets taste, you wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Lark.

I don't get you. You say that "you guys are all aholes", if you kill a snake, then say it's ok if you do, under your own snake killer code. Then you accuse me of killing snakes in a refuge. I don't think I've ever been in a refuge. Oh wait, Denali. Didn't see any snakes tho. Then I'm a poacher because of all the refuge snakes I kill. Well Ron white jerk. Don't say it's ok for you to kill a rattler and then call everybody else dirty names. Another guy that figgers he's so pure that anything he does is ok. But nobody else can because they don't have "ethics". It's a stinkin' rattler. Stomp it's head and move on. Ever think o' joinin' peta? Be careful, don't get bit. Lark.

Blah, blah. Only worth 2 blahs. Don't have your own code fir killing snakes and don't allow others theirs. If I ever kill a snake in a nwf I'll feel bad for a minute or 1. Lark.

if you look up liver in the dicksunary it says "good way to screw up onions". the buffalo hunters used to skin back a hind leg and make a little bowl outta the flesh side of the hide, then take the gall bladder and squeeze out the bile then into the bowl, then cut the liver up in chunks and dip it in the bile and eat it raw. i'm sure this was to make the liver a little more gaggable. that and it just ain't right to shove chunks up a dead buf's butt before you eat it to improve the taste. what i'm sayin' is to quit even using the term ethics when refering to hunting. do you think peta thinks hunting is "ethical". hel l no. we have a set of laws that should determine how you go about your business in the woods. the laws have been intentionally written to have room in them so that folks can still have some area to do things their way. forget your dam "ethics". it's just your opinion. you're welcome to it, but don't expect others to have the same opinion and don't think your opinion is more important. if we let ethics start governing hunting, then hunting is over. if you think i agree with everything folks do in the woods, think again. there is a buncha stuff i really disagree with, but will not complain about because it is legal and i don't want to prescribe to anything that keeps folks from hunting. to me it's "unethical" to not hunt. the azgfd has tried to instill some "ethics" in the last few years. all they've ended up with is a buncha real vague crap that makes it easier for them the hassle folks that are just trying to hunt. we need clear, precise, laws that are still broad enough for folks to hunt how they want to and that have enough leeway so that if you move one inch in the wrong direction, you're not breaking the law. not vague "ethics" that each and every person has a different view of. in my opinion, if it's legal, it's ethical. Lark.

Fine job lad. Lark.

Yeah,I'm also tall, smart, good lookin', tougher than the back wall of a shootin' gallery, can run fast, jump high and I'm good lookin'. Those are them midget elk ain't they 85? Lark.
-
Yes. I will kill every rattler I see. You listed all the exceptions you have to killin' em. Well I have a bigger list. We ain't talking about other states either. I've known lotsa folks that have suffered greatly because of rattlers. If you wanna call someone that kills a rattler a poacher, that a real stretch. Oh well. The ethics cops at work. Lark.

Nerd. You think anybody can wound an animal the way you described? Just gonna waste an arrow. But it's probly ok to shoot 1000 yds with a $6000 rifle and a $1500 range finder tho, ain't it. Legal, ethical, same thing. When you try to enforce ethics, aka your opinion, things really turn to $h!t. If someone wants to be stupid that's their right. And it takes quite awhile for anyone to get the experience they need to be deadly. Lotsa trial and error. Nobody needs the ethics cops squeelin like pigs hindering their progress. Hunting is a very intense process and folks hafta be able to make a few mistakes along the way. We are all trying to do the same thing, kill something. But we all do it in different ways. Folks need to support others who hunt legally and get off their "ethics" BS. All it is, is your opinion. In my opinion, folks should hunt. Lark.
-
Yeah, but we are snake killin' @$$holes. If a rattler is near me its endangering something, most likely itself. Bang. Problem solved. Lark.
-
People pull the word "ethics" like a gun. They think the argument is over if they use it. Ethical=legal. It's legal to miss, therefor ethical. Lark.

keep showin' bob all these photos and he's gonna get so jacked up he'll end up with the shingles. bob, you best borrow uncle rico's time machine and go forward to elk season or you're gonna end up in the hospital. the 2 worst nightmares i ever had are- 1. i'm suddenly workin' back at the corndog. 2- i have an elk tag and and i forget opening day, my truck won't run, rifle won't shoot, no ammo, cant find en elk, it's the last thing the last day, people shootin' elk in front of me all over the place, people everywhere, the roads are locked up, etc. but don't think about none o' that stuff bob. i'm sure your truck will run fine and such. Bullets that just won't shoot well?
.270 replied to bustedknuckleinc's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
if you're like me and always shoot great big stuff, 30 inch groups ain't too bad. just hafta make sure you shoot stuff that is over 30 inches. actually, if you're shooting 30 inch groups, you have some serious problems somewhere. not just one problem either, multiples. i've shot out many a barrel and never had anything even close to that. do any of the rounds keyhole? .040" off the lands seems kinda excessive. don't see it as 30 inch kinda excessive tho. let us know what you figger out. .264 diameter is kinda fickle sometimes, when you start shooting really long bullets. requires a lotta attention to barrel twist. these new bullet designs where a 140 gr bullet is same length as a 165 useta be, cause folks problems sometimes, if they ain't twisted quick enough. one of my old .264's groups went to hel l all the sudden once, when i went to some 140 gr sierras. i figgered it was the bullets. so i loaded some 130's, same thing, then 120's. then realized the throat was burnt out, and it just happened to get real bad at the same time i swtiched bullets. it wouldn't shoot anything well. but it didn't look too bad. took awhile to figger out what the problem was. but it was a lot better than 30 inches. has this barrel had a lotta rounds down it? Lark. -
when you're disgruntled it means you're pissed. so if you're happy does it mean you're gruntled? Lark.

think of any unit in Az with elk in it, add in new mex, colorado, wyoming, montana, sing it all to the tune of "i've been everwhere, man", and that'll purty much sum it up. Lark. p.s. some o' you fellers have shot some really good bulls lately. i'm jellust.

jeffro, my offer is still there. let me know what you decide. 33- this is my original comment- Only difference between a .556 and a .223 is barrel twist. Cartridge is exactly the same specs. .556 nato has a faster twist to stabilize longer bullets. Any .223 bullet of any weight will shoot fine out of a .556. .556 weight bullets may not stabilize well out of a .223. Still shoots, just don't group well. Lark. read it, if you are capable, of have someone else read it to you. i'm talking cartidges, you are trying to turn it into rifles. trying to change what i said to prove your wrong argument. the cartidges are exactly the same. exactly. no difference what so ever. identical, as the info i provided stated. provided you with all the proof that is needed, at least to someone with a room temperature IQ, i can't help it if you are stupid and refuse to face up to facts. again, the .223 and .556 are the exact same cartridge. and nothing you can do or say will change that fact and for you to continue to argue that is irresponsible. Lark.
