It's elk season. You have one of the best elk tags in the world. Go huntin'. If you're in 27 and it's crowded, you're too close to the road. Lotsa places you can go with lotsa Bulls and no hunters. Lark

That's cool. Not many folks call in a lion. And know about it anyway. Lark

Hog, by your theory, When you put half a dozen wardens on one robo deer, who is doing the patrolling? Then there is less than one man for however much area you're talking about. Dyed in the wool outlaw poachers don't cruise the highways looking for their prey. Per the article in the Tucson paper, they're supposed to be after market hunters and serial poachers. They don't do that from the highway. The azgfd has a real credibility problem with a big part of outdoor community, in large part because of doing stupid things like citing kids for shooting sparrows, giving a poaching warden $100k, having their own undercover specialist embezzling a pile of cash, robo deer and because they have decided to quit being friends of outdoor people and to look at all tag holders as poachers that haven't been caught yet. I, for one, feel that if they would try to be a little nicer to folks and build some bridges back, they'd be able get more info on poachers from the rank and file tag holders than any kind of investigative work they could do. This robo deer is a waste of time and resource and does nothing to repair the real live alienation that has happened between the azgfd and the guys that pay their bills for em. I'd estimate that 90% of the diehard poaching is done by a very small % of tag holders. They need to focus on that very small group, and do some work to get back in good graces with Joe hunter. Not waste time with an electric deer and citing guys for real weak stuff. Lark.

That thing on its neck lights up and gives you a score if you shoot the dog. Just like at the arcade at bass pro. Trust me. Lark

Bill, I find your post very interesting. Never understood how manufacturing criminals did any good. The true criminals are still running around while the bunny cops are taking bows and patting backs for catching some guy in a weak moment. I still feel they would better serve all involved by doing true biology work and focusing law enforcement efforts on the guys they know need busted. If they would spend more time congratulating successful hunters, checking tags and licenses cheerfully with a smile on their face and being true ambassadors of the outdoors, we probably wouldn't hear near so much negative stuff about the azgfd. Kinda funny how they would use roads as such a definite border. why they just use the rim? Lark.

Good to see the strip making a comeback. About 25-30 years ago the deer population got so low there was NO hunting for quite a few years. Are the 2 bucks hanging from this year also? The typical score on the bundy buck is giant. Nice to see a hard horned giant taken in the general season. Lark.

It's amazing how many guys that don't hunt or fish much end up with their pals on a dove or quail hunt or a fishing trip with no license. I would imagine scenarios like that add up to quite a few. Lark

I love the part about the poaching team and shipping the meat to the east coast to illegal restaurants. I figgerd it was just dumbasses, not the mule deer restaurant meat mafia. Now I'm really scared. Wonder if they troll this site? Oh no, the deer meat mafia is upon us!!! Lark

Think whatever you want str8. It happened. Cited for road hunting. Instead of having half a dozen wardens watching one phony deer and citing guys for basically driving down the highway, I feel actually being in the field, making positive contact with hunters, checking licenses and bagged animals, doing real game biology work and looking for real law breakers is much more productive than trying to be hidden undercover James Bond spooks. All the tickets they wrote all last year didn't make em enough to pay for the truck they wrecked either. I saw photos of it. Kinda funny.

Score one for the old guys. Good for the kids for helping him out. My ol man shot his last buck at 82. Went every year until he died. Their is a lotta emphasis on youth hunters. I kinda feel like the old guys get shoved to the side and there should be some sort of old guy season or tag preference. Good job all around. Lark.

Personally I think this stuff is a waste of resource and time. They were set up in 27 last January. Cited folks that stopped to look if they had their release on their wrist. If it was rifle season and you stop and your trigger finger is attached do you get a ticket? It ain't against the law to look. Heard that the guys that fought it got the tickets tossed making it pretty much a waste of time. I feel they would be better off investigating real cases and prosecuting the guys that get caught. Not trying to manufacture criminals with a phony deer. Lark

My midget youngest son shot a nice one today. Good thing we have a basement big enough that a few deer live in it. Bein' basement trolls an' all. Just a 550 yd shot. He ate about a 1/4 of it while packin' it out. Bein' the runt at only 6'5" he hasta eat a lot to keep his strength up. This is kinda the way things go here at the Rancho. Shoot stuff, pack it out, cut it up and eat it, repeat. It's a miserable life. Hope I get a buck tomorrow so we'll have some meat for dinner. Lark Ps- in case you're too iggernut to get it, I'm kinda proud o' my kids. He ended up with a bunch of his partners gear and His pack weighed 140lbs when he got to the road. Might be the heaviest coues I've ever seen. He can post more photos and tell ya a story later.

This is Heather, all 100 lbs of her. Her and her husband Forest have been huntin' outta the Rancho Neglecto this past week. She got a heckuva buck and one o' the worst scope eyes ever today. Shot 605 yds with a .300 rum. Got scoped the first shot, shook it off and shot again and got scoped again. That puts her on my tough guy list. This is her first muley, but she has shot 5 coues and 2 really nice Bulls. And this isn't her longest shot. They packed out half today, over 3 miles, headed back in the morning for the rest. Anyway, been a great fall so far here. Lark.

Backstrap, biscuits, gravy and prickly pear jelly. Mrs .270 is an artist in the kitchen. It's a team deal. I shoot it, she cooks it, Bullitt does the dishes. When he's done they are ready for the cupboard.

He's kinda wimpy today anyway. A mule kicked him yesterday. He loves gravy and prickly pear jelly. Really cleans the plates. Lark

Cool. Good to see folks do it right. Anybody ever use deer guts for sausage casing? Lark
