    22-250

first off, i love a good .22/.250. very easy to reload and get incredible accuracy. at least in a decent rifle. i have a ruger VT that i can shoot 5 shots in one hole at 100 yds. 52 gr hpbt hornady match bullets with some varget behind em. i don't even load mine hot and get over 3800 fps. super coyote rifle. be a good pig gun. does some incredible things on prarie dogs (especially them big fat ones in colorado). and i've shot at least one deer with one. but it would be way down on my wish list of deer guns. you can do it, especially on them dinky whitetail. but you best really be a good shot and use a good tough bullet. something that i ain't aware is made in one that will work in a .22/.250. be better off moving up to a .243, .257, .264 or the best in the world, that all smart folks shoot, the .270. something that has enough weight in the bullet to penetrate a deer. if you punch a deer in the lungs with a .22/.250, they'll go right down. hit the shoulder, neck, butt, etc, you could have problems on your hands. nothing is good in the guts. they also ain't much in the wind. but no rifle is really. no matter what folks say. wind effects everything a bunch. and whatever you do, stay the heck away from a 7mm/08. worst pud gun ever made. it's like a kid who just eats, smokes dope and plays video games. slow, dumb and don't like to work hard. in fact, they oughta shoot whoever invented it. with a .22. if they shot em with a 7mm/08, it'd probly bounce off. Lark.

    Montana Decoys

i've done a lot of elk chasin' with a bow. i can't see where a decoy would be anything but a pain in the butt. you don't sit under a tree and call a bull in. they ain't turkeys or coyotes. you have to chase em until you can get between the bull and the cows and then make em think you're a cow with call. get a diaphram and learn how to use it. and learn how to sound like a cow really sounds. not like these stupid dang calls they advertise and use on tv. only one that sounds even a little decent is that hoochie mamma deal. but it is one dimensional. you can't vary the sounds. learn how to use a dipahram. learn how to sound like a bull, but forget about all the chucklin' and other stupid crap. learn how to sound like a bull really sounds. and get get in shape and get ready to run. Lark.
  6. i wonder who pays for all the litigation on this stuff? these guys have gotta have more money than the denver mint. i really like the names of the groups. wildearth guardians and the rewilding institute. bet there's a buncha hairy legged chicks with moustaches at them offices. there ain't no way to try and figger out the azgfd, when it comes to how they do justice. after looking at the new ethics section in the regs, there might be a bunch of us banned from 29 states next year. Lark.
  8. it was just a couple miles upstream from where the road pulls out of aravaipa and heads up turkey creek. Lark.

    regs are out

well, i perused em quickly. didn't see a lot of changes other than some drastic cuts in the december coues tags and some cuts in the areas i always apply for bighorn in. also see where a lot of the hunts that were 10 day are now 7. lost the 2nd weekend. but i did see one thing that i didn't like, i mean other than the whole azgfd, on page 9, we now have, and you asked for it, "ETHICS". while i agree with a lot of what they have written, i think it is bad form to try to legislate ethics and don't like the word applied anywhere in law. i can see a buncha folks gettin' hammerd by ethics rule #1. any of you guys try to hunt during the late nov./early dec. bull elk hunts last year? when we had all the record rain. if they try to enforce these "ETHICS", if you get off the pavement, you'll get an ethics ticket. you couldn't walk in the road without damaging it during that hunt last year. i guess it's ok for anyone who isn't hunting to drive on a muddy road tho. just can't do it if you're hunting. #4 is a good one too. treat the lands as if they're yours. ok, none o' you clowns can hunt anywhere i am, becuase i'm gonna treat it as if it's mine and lock the gates. #2 will be tried and tested too. remember, don't use your quad. but it's ok if you're out there just tearin' up the country on a dirt bike. and if ya leave your treestand too long it can be subject to seizure. when i still drunk whiskey and takillya, i was subject to seizure too. is that the same thing? i don't know guys, this "ETHICS" deal is a little too vague for me. i can see some johnny by the book gungho bunnypig gettin' his ears pinned back if he tries some o' this ethics stuff on the right guy. i can't wait till the late bull hunt and they start givin' out tickets for muddy road drivin'. first time i had a tag since 2000. i might get a little perturbed if somebody tries to stop me from fillin' it. Lark.
  10. well, i see the forest circus decided to light the chitty fire back up, in the wind. and it got away from em and is now classified as a wild fire. talked to my cousin yesterday and it has got over into crabtree. now there's a nice place to fight a fire. oh well, i guess it needs to be burned, but i sure get tired of these jokers torchin' the countryside while hollerin' at anybody else tryin' to cook weenies. Lark.
  11. the rodeo chediski started on the rez and they have their own set o' rules. i was watchin' the news last night and they were talking about how high the fire danger was and how we were all gonna burn up this year. makin' news. anyway, i got to thinkin', heck, they say that every year. at least for the last 40 or so since i been paying attention. every year is a dry year, in the desert. bill, i really like that scar they ripped open from atcheson res. north to big lake, all the way across the flat country, for a trail, that the last time i looked, still wasn't open. who they heck is gonna walk on a trail across a prarie that you can see every inch of from a paved road? talk about messin' up a pretty patch o' grass. Lark.

  13. they finally get a so called endangered species back from the brink, and they don't wanna let go of the control. actually tho, aren't these a little different kind of wolf than was there? and they ain't endangered in canada, where they come from. http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/n...Wolves0429.html
  14. this is funny. utards. Lark. http://www.azgfd.gov/artman/publish/article_803.shtml
  15. i know bill, and who gave em the permit? the forest circus. i watched them jokers infiltrate the school board, town councils, even the dang little league, when i lived there, and foul em all with their commie stench. the usfs is just gov't sponsored activism. everyone who works for em is anti hunter, anti cow, anti farm, anti logger, anti fishin', anti camper, anti bath, anti women shavin' their armpits, anti any kinda competition (that's why they really pushed soccer). if it was up to the usfs, the roads would be locked at the pavement and only they could use the woods. joint use to them is to use the woods to smoke a joint. Lark.
  16. hence the name, forest circus. if there is a place that needs burned out, it is that country. i just sick of the stinkin' tree pigs lightin' fires when they shouldn't. you can't tell me that the fire being lit a couple days before turkey season was a coincidence. when i lived the springertown, the tree pigs would light there slash piles the day before deer season, every year. no matter what the weather. one year they lit it off by mexican hay lake and it got away from em. her come the bulldozers and fire fighters. put it out and lit it again. got away again. repeat. then they lit it off again. then it really got loose and they tried to block off water canyon and the biglake highway. the first weekend of deer seaon. remember a couple years when they burned up los alamos, new mex? they supposedly have 3 or 4 criteria that have to be met, wind speed, wind direction, humidity, etc., before they light a fire. it didin't meet any of em, but they lit it anyway. killed some folks. burned a buncha houses. no problem, we're the forest circus. what a zoo. Lark.
  17. heck, it's still too cold for anything to green up. freezing every night above the rim. as soon as the global warming starts (re. springtime) it'll green up. Lark.

me and my kid have unit uno tags. i think we're gonna use boomerangs and call em in with a dijjerydoo. i wanna fish and get outta town as much as anything. Lark.
  22. zakly, desertbull. i find it really incredulous that one of these stupid "reintroductions" worked, but they don't want to admit it. it worked to the point of about wiping out the game, but they still want them to be endangered. phony 2 faced jerks. just like the bald eagle. it's recovered quite well, there are dozens of redundant laws that protect them, but they are still fighting to keep them endangered. who wants to kill one? they taste like javelina anyway. Lark.

  25. why didn't they just run off? oh wait, they are "u-of-a" scientists. that's like special ed at other schools. they're probly workin' on easier ways to deliver pizzas. you know, to help out other u of a allumn. Lark. http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/200...bcatattack.html
