Proposal to eliminate the Heritage Fund
.270 replied to fish's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
far be it for me to side with the azgfd. they have been poorly managed, at best, for decades. but they do have to manage "all" wildlife in Az. not just stuff that gets hunted or angled. snails, frogs, songbirds, squaw fish, chubs, sonoran pronghorn, snakes, lizards, mussels, bats, mice, rats, skunks, talkin' javelinas, etc, etc, etc. but the only guys that contribute to the fund are hunters and anglers. we don't just pay for the stuff that we can hunt and fish, we pay for the management of all animals in Az. at least with the heritage fund some of the liability was spread around to folks who may not ever contribute to wildlife conservation in the state. if they lose the heritage fund, then what hunters and anglers contribute will be the only funds the azgfd gets and it will have to be spread around to try to cover every thing that crawls, creeps, walks, swims or flys in this state. license and tag fees will increase so that hunters and anglers can again pay to take care of everything in the state. the last thing Az needs is any federal help, because they like to make everything an endangered or threatened species and shut down hunting and angling in order protect them. this ain't a good deal. as it is now, every get rich quick dreamer who buys a lottery ticket gets to contribute to Az wildlife conservation.( i buy about 5 a year when it gets real high because i need at least 40 million to do me any good) this ain't good in anyway. well, maybe if they let us have some input into who they lay off, it might make it not hurt so bad. it doesn't bother me a bit to know that a lot of what i pay every year in fees goes to manage animals that i can't shoot or catch. they're all part of the outdoors and i like to see and hear all of em. from slugs to eagles. but i also think that everyone should contribute something. with the heritage fund money, folks that would never contribute, get to. this ain't good. no, ain't good. next thing is the bastards in the capital will take the money we contribute with license and tag fees so they can use it to teach an "illegal alien" to speak english or so they can pay for housing or school lunches or some other crap for people who won't work. stuff that is paid by our other taxes now. you guys remember this crap when it comes time to vote. not just for governor. it has real consequences. and if you don't vote, get somebody to groin kick ya every day until ya do. most of the little programs you see, take the new license plate for instance, are set up to pay for the program. very little of the money actually gets to the land. if your lucky, it will pay administering the program and you get to feel good about doing it. but in actuality, not much ever gets to where they say it's going. but the heritage fund does. as soon as this new sorry excuse we have for a gov started hollerin' about no money, i knew it wouldn't be long. well, it's here. think when ya vote. and make dang sure ya do. i'll makr prediction. we're gonna see an increase in the number of auction tags soon. write it down. Proposal to eliminate the Heritage Fund

the people that lost their minds were the jackasses that elected that jackass napalitano twice. she sat around doing absolutely nothing but spend money, while everyone knew this was headed this way and she didn't do a dang thing about it but bail and go to d.c. to join the head jackass. now the whole country knows what we were putting up with. there were quite a few things that could have been done while she was stilll in office but she didn't care because she was headed outta town. votes are like guns. they do nothing but good when you use em correctly and with intelligence. but a dangerous sob when every dumbass over 18 has one. use your vote wisely. this is what happens when a majority doesn't. wonder is sherrif joe is regretting campaigning for nappy yet? "NEW" Wildlife Conservation License Plate
.270 replied to Knifeboy's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
can you git anything you want on it? like "wolfkilr" or "i8awolf" or "eaglshtr". gameholler oughta get one that says 7mm/08. there ain't nothin' conserves game like them things. Lark. -
i read in the paper the other day that they had to wait a year to make enough money off the tags so they could hire some guys to enforce it. just another tax. tax this tax that. it's a typical gov't program that's main objective is to make new laws and hire new folks to enforce em. a lot like all the different "inspectors" that cities and counties hire. i hate new taxes. tax, tax, tax. gotta end somewhere. i think there needs to be more enforcement to stop folks from tearing up the country on atv's. get sick and tired of seeing where some dumbass tore up a meadow or a road with a quad. but like most laws, the guys that ain't tearin' everthing up get hassled the most. one good thing about this law tho, when i got my ranger i made it street legal and insured and registered it and all that. cost $170 a year to register it. with this new law, it costs the $25 for the off road sticker but the registration went down to like $12 a year. but mark my words, next thing they'll do is they're gonna hassle folks, even us legal folks, for not having highway rated tires. they all say not highway rated on em and they're make a guy park em because of that next. you read it here first. Lark.

no matter what kind ya get somebody will badmouth it. get a good caliber with a good barrel, good trigger, good action and have fun with it. the more powder it holds the better. Lark.
-
maybe it's a michael jackson gun that he shoots because he can't recoil and he has a fat barrel to make it even less of a kicker? hoo hoooo. i don't even believe the 276 pound story. don't care if it is documented. lions don't get that big. that is a big tom in the photo. real good one. folks are bad about adding weight to unweighed lions. same with bears. a monster lion is 200 lbs. i mean like once in a blue moon. Lark.
-
i thought it was great. anybody with even a little bit of intelligence should have been convinced of what a liein', phony, stupid anti-American he is after that spew. anybody that is still emamoured by this clown is really lacking in smarts and character. Lark.
-
nice big lion, but it weighs about half what they say it does. i'd say it was 150 or so. maybe a little bigger. the guy is sitting back as far as he could. there ain't never been a 300 lb lion. Lark.
-
several times a year me and a good pal and all our boys get together to chase pigs and quail. those are my dream hunts. gettin' outta town with folks ya care about. no real cares. just a good time. Lark.
-
either one should be ok. what does it say on the bottle? i've been using red for years, because that's what i have. super glue works well too. it breaks loose easy. just don't use too much. when i was a kid we always used varnish. Lark.
-
poor ol' tom deserved better. case o' the cure killin' ya. i don't think there is a more impressive animal than a jag. i know folks who have hunted them. i guess there ain't much tougher or meaner than a jag. Lark.
-
that buck may not be the world record, but it is about the most impressive i've ever seen. for midget deer anyway. that is just a helluva buck. dang. good job. which side o' the gila was it on? Lark.
-
what is a "easter" whitetail? bill is gonna be all yanked over that one. ain't they just got stubby horns and in the velvet that time o' year? ya orta spend that money on a roseta stone class and learn ya some english. Lark.
-
it's a fact that .270 shooters are smarter, better lookin' and smellin' than folks that shoot inferior calibers. inferior caliber = anything that ain't a .270. hoo hooo. Lark.

good luck. took me 26 years to get my first Az goat tag. and that was 15 years ago. with the frequent flier miles and the hunters safety course, i have 17 now. between me and my boys, we've applied for Az goat over 100 times. been drawn twice. me and my oldest son. last year i applied for a couple muzzlelaoder hunts that i thought i had a good chance. nothin'. just keep tryin'. i know guys that have had half a dozen rifle tags in 20 years in Az. stinks. the problem is that everbody has a buncha points. the bonus point deal is just like a pyramid scheme. worked ok until so many folks got into it. i remember when they first started it they said it would eventually get to where it was like this. guess they were right. Lark.

did he ever tell ya about him and his friend choppin' the hole in the pickup fender tryin' to finish off a deer? Lark.

singleshot, that is a right cute girl. why you wanna put the stigma on her of usin' a michael jackson gun? poor kid. she's gonna hafta have a lotta counselllin' fer sher. your ol' man always liked them wierd ca'tridges. but i sorta like the 6.5 swede too. i remember once i think when kelly's sporting goods was goin' outta business on main street he had a big grin on his face once at school because he got such a good deal on some rifles there. they were them ol' jap arisakies or some deal. butt ugliest things i ever seen and in a caliber the japs don't even use anymore. he was all proud of em. like fred sanford always said, "ugly gun, uuuuuugly gun". Lark.

we need to rename the 7/08 the michael jackson gun. he's dead, been dead for a long time, but all his weirdo fans keep talkin' about him. just like the 7/08. anything that anemic is dead. but the 4 guys that still like em can't keep from talkin' about how good it was. hooo hoo. Lark.

now there's a smart feller. .270 walks off and leaves the pudgun, 7mm/08. try either 100 or 110 grain bullets. they shoot very well and very flat and really cut the kick from 130's. the 115's should be ok too, but if you reload you have a lot more options. i always wished somebody made a 120 for the .270. 150s are a little punky in a .270. especially if you're gonna load em for reduced recoil. they carry downrange quite well, but they ain't no hotrod. also, try a simms recoil pad. they really help. you can look through reloading books for a week and you can't find a more anemic round than the 7mm/08. slow, shoots like a rainbow and bounces off most furry critters bigger than a cottontail. to me, the best round for a kid is a .243. with 85's or 100's it is a great big game rifle. plenty for anything in this state. as long as you can shoot. all the .243 wssm's i've seen didn't work for nothin' in the rifles they were in. the little fat short round doesn't seem to work well in a bolt action. you made a wise choice with the .270. Lark.

all in all, a nice little storm. didn't too much damage. recharged some groundwater, put water in a lotta tanks, will green up the desert and put down a fair amount of snowpack. but a lot of parts of the state didn't get much. when the wind blew hard here thursday we got a dust storm, because it didn't rain much to the south of us. weird, by then we'd had 3 1/2 inches of rain and had a dust storm. go figger. rained a lot in some areas, but not much in others. got a fair amount of snow, we'll take it. it's a good start. now if we can get a little more rain every few weeks maybe we can have us a good quail hatch for a change. yep, a nice little storm. Lark.
-
dang, this rain is nice. gonna green up the desert, maybe make some poppies. dang sure gonna make a lotta spring feed and fill some tanks. creeks and rivers will all run. hope it makes some prickly pears. we're about outta jelly. they say the one comin' in behind this one is even bigger. i 'bout froze showern' under the eaves tonight. and my neighbors called the cops on me, again. let rain. this is fine. Lark.
-
got 3 1/2 inches o' rain since monday here at the rancho neglecto so far. had to rig up a snorkel for my mule. he took right to it tho was doin' the backstroke after just a bit. at feedin't time he axed me to put in a divin' board. he's always jokin' like that. Lark.

the earthquake in haiti was just a jiggle compared to the one that hit massachusette today. dang, what a rumble. i bet obammer and his cronies are wondering what the heck happened. probly can't believe that a majority of people don't think they're too stupid to think for themselves, like the liberal democrat jerks do. what a deal. glory be, a republican senator in mass., and he's replacin' a kennedy too. well, i'm bettin' the cubs win the world series, heck freezes over and gameholler get's rid of his 7mm/08 girlgun this year. this is just an incredible deal. appears to have stopped the health tax and crap and trade both both in their tracks too. mark this day down boys. it's one to be remembered. Lark.
-
hey redneck, thanks for the offer. we still have a few jars and my wife said there is some frozen juice in the freezer. folks that ain't never tried prickly pear jelly don't know what they're missin'. i love to drink the juice straight. talk about an energy drink. wooo. Lark.

Opinions needed...New rifle
.270 replied to azelkhunter2's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
every christensen i've shot hit real well. might just need to tinker with the overal cartridge length or a different powder. every rifle is a little different. overall length is real criticial. .25 caliber is the most finicky of em all it seems. if you have the bullet seated right so it hooks up with the lands like it should, might try a different powder. some guns are picky about what you feed em. maybe even try a different powder. another really over looked thing is hammer speed. you can have a real light trigger and still have creep and not be smooth, too. i'll bet it'll shoot. rifles are just like mules, they'll do what ya want, you just have to figger out how to make it do it. Lark.
