Both great looking rifles. Hard to find uncut stocks, with original back sights, sling swivels and front sight hoods. Blue looks sharp. I kinda like refinished stocks on model 70's because the stain and finish hides the color and grain of the wood. A lot of standards and fw's have nice wood that is covered up with the stain and finish. But it usually detracts from the price when they've been refinished. Too bad I've bought about a dozen guns in the last few months. I don't think I can sneak anymore in the cabin without my cook quitting. Nice rifles tho. Lark

They make better bullets now I think, but I put a lotta stuff down with maxi balls. They are very accurate. But a big slug o' lead going that slow doesn't deform much. A good lung shot does the job tho. A 1/32 will shoot one real well. Lark

There is a super grade .458, African, unfired in the box for $15,500 minimum on gunbroker right now. I'd like to have that one. They made a lotta different models and calibers I've never seen one I didn't want. Lark.

Just going from the experience I have of owning a bunch of em, if you got $1500 minimum you did well or they were rare models or calibers in really good condition. You have a nice uncut rifle in decent condition. Still has the front side hood. But the back sight has been replaced, stock has been refinished, sling swivel loops have been removed along with the sling, the bluing is soso, and it's a standard grade in '06 made in the '50's. They made a bunch of em. It isn't a transition or clover leaf tang or spatula safety or low serial # or magnum action or featherweight or super grade or any of the things that boost the price. The old b&l scope is kinda cool. They didn't have internal adjustments. You sight em in with the adjustments in the base. But it probably doesn't add much to the price, unless you find someone that is into the nostalgia of a period scope. Real nice old rifle but not rare at all. Be a great hunting rifle. Good luck. Well after the azgfd started managing the herd to get it where it is today. Tell another "fact". Then the place was in limbo for several years while the thieves involved were being prosecuted and sent to prison. Ain't no way "you" guys got there until sometime in the 90's. Quite awhile after the 70's you want to use as a fact. That's just the way it was. No unit had an abundance of elk. None. Unit 10 is not unique. Bring up another meaningless "fact". In other words, a lie. That the way "I" feel. Every rancher develops water that wildlife use. Cattle also use natural water that wildlife use. Every rancher runs pipelines, drills wells, pays to pump water, fixes roads. Quit cryin' about it. Every rancher endures drought, floods, fires, etc. You're not unique. Every rancher has to deal with the native flora and fauna that impedes on their imported livestock. Every one of em. You act like no other cow man has the same problems. But very few of em try get in the pockets of the joe nobodies that get lucky and get a tag. Nothing you say addresses the "fact" that tax paying citizens of the state of Arizona with valid hunting licenses and permits are being charged to use their land. I think trophy hunter is right. All that's fine and dandy. All the while tax paying Az residents with perfectly legal hunting licenses are having to pay to access state owned land. This ain't about the poor bo that was originally purchased by the tribe under extremely illegal circumstances with somewhere upward of $30 million while they're own tribal members were living in less than 3rd world conditions. This ain't about the poor cattle company with extremely deep pockets having to spend money on infrastructure that every rancher in the country has to do also. Or the poor cattle company paying the exhorbitant amount of 50 cents per acre to lease state land. This is about taxpayers being tired of being squeezed to hunt state land and not liking it. Quit trying to paint the cattle company as a poor down trodden bunch of guys that walk on water. It ain't about them. Really have a hard time wondering why folks can't understand that. Lark
