The prophecy is a good bow. But I think you would be much happier with the Drive LT. You give up a little bit of speed but it is a much more forgiving and user friendly bow........ Im still yet to pick out my shooters bow this year but after playing with them all now for a while, the Drive LT is going to be the one!!!!!

Grain weight is a must for bigger animals for sure. With today's equipment for elk I would say a stiff 400-500 grain package shot out of a 60-70# bow would be sufficient for a pass through on a bull elk (fixed blade broadhead) some expandable heads will get a pass through also. But with an expandable head I would stay at the top of the draw weight if not higher and at the top of the grain weight if not higher also. That was a very good article but bows really suffer performance wise when you start to get over 700 grains. Sure if I was only going to shoot 30-40 yards max I would shoot a 700+ grain arrow but I shoot further then that..... (60yard max for elk) I have shot 1400 grain arrows out of my hunting bow 85# x force GX at a whopping 188fps..... and it actually pushes the bow back at you...... So there is a happy medium..... IMHO you need to shoot well tuned equipment, practice a lot, and put the arrow where it needs to go. 95% of any bull elk truly double lunged with any quality broadhead should go down in under 100 yards.... but there are always those acceptions where you shoot an animal that just has that drive.... and ive seen it happen...... God has built some impressive creatures and some are just amazing what they can take...... I see where your coming from but I had a buddy go on a rifle elk hunt first day at 100 yards shot @ a cow. She didnt flinch herd took off and she took off with the herd he looked for blood for an hour never found any. He blew it off as a miss (he shoots good and his 7 mag is sub MOA) this exact thing happens the next day.... so he goes and shoots his gun still hitting perfect.... day 3 he shoots at a cow she doesn't flinch but just picks her head up and looks around he proceeds to shoot again and the elk runs off and shoots a 3rd time and and broke her front shoulder and she goes down..... he got over there and there was 2 holes an inch apart double lunged. The elk showed no signs of being hit or blood until she went down with the third shot. At that point he said he got sick to his stomach knowing he shot 2 other elk and never recovered them....... I know quite a few of my friends that have killed elk with a gun that also said the same thing that they hit the elk and showed no signs of a hit or blood or very little blood until they went down. These elk were taken with 7mags up to a 460 pistol...... now I ask this how many people do you know that say they shot and missed elk with a rifle? Sad to say but I have herd quite a few people tell me that and I use to believe it but now Im sorry but it has to be an absolutely horrible shot to miss an animal that big with a gun......

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that gun hunters "litter the woods" with almost just as many unrecovered elk.....

Got mine last night!!!!!! Permit #113 for 5b south archery bull and permit #8 for 4b archery antelope!!!!!! Ya buddy its gonna be a busy year!!!!!!!! 4 months till antelope season!!!!!!

Well I stocked up on swackers but now I think im gonna shoot Phat Heads or the Phat Head S.O.B.......

Just make sure you drive the 82b road to get in there.......lol ........ well if you dont value your kidneys.... the sawmill's can be hot or cold just depends on how much pressure it gets and what day of the travel cycle the elk are on. It seems like they will be in there for a day or two and then gone for a few days and then back in there again.....

Im right there with ya Willy...... my wife and I got 2 of the 5a bull Hopi tags the first year they had leftovers. My wife shot the first bull we called in and I shot the 13th bull we called within shooting range in a day and a half....... I think people are trying to discourage more people from putting in....... I hate when people lie like that. Just dont say anything no need to lie........
