It is legal. I spoke in person with the Ranger for 23 North (Dave Daniels) during the past archery season. I carry a 357 myself and he told me he does as well while he hunts. He says that the main reason the department continues to permit archers to carry firearms is an increasing amount of pot farms in the mountains... along with bears and other weird people. Anyways.. if you are ever questioned, state that it is for personal protection and you will be fine.

Hey guys I just wanted to introduce myself. My name's Sean and I am one of those coues fanatics that has haunted this site for awhile and I finally joined up. Well Im only 21 and Im still waiting on my first sheep tag... but I've watched my dad take a beautiful desert here in the state and I was a big part of his Foote Creek hunt recently. Im addicted to sheep hunting just because of those two experiences and I cant wait to go on one of my own. After I get my degree, and Im done with school, I plan on going for my Dall. In the mean time I hunt coues whenever I can. The name's a little miss leading, I know, but it describes me well.
