    10 Minute Coues!

Way to go Carl!!! Hope you are doig well.
  3. Just letting everyone know that if you look in the revised hunting regulations it states that the minimum draw weight is now 30lbs for all big game with the exception of Buffalo which is 40 lbs. I know this is great news for kids like my oldest son who just turned 10 and is pulling 35lbs.

    New Minimum Draw Weight

Like many have said it comes down to being respondsible and knowing your limits and the limits of your equipment. It is no different than the regulations stating that you may hunt big game with a centerfire rifle with no minimum caliber. I certainly would not hunt any big game with my 204 ruger even if legal. We as sportsman need to police ourselves.

    New Minimum Draw Weight

I agree that 30lbs is not enough for elk. I don't even know if 40lbs is enough for buffalo or elk. I hope that we bowhunters make ethical decisions when it comes to limiting our shots and the species we hunt to our equipment and its limitations. I like the fact that we are making it easier for women and children to enjoy our sport.

    300 ultra vs 257 weatherby

I love the .257 weatherby! I have watched many many coues deer and mule deer get shot with this caliber and it is lethal. Most of the shots were 300-600 yards. I don't like recoil and muzzle breaks. The recoil on the .257 is relatively mild. Both of the .257s I have shoot well with factory ammo. I don't think you can go wrong with the .257 weatherby if you are looking for a deer rifle that shoots flat & hits hard with mild recoil. Most of the bucks killed on the Extreme Coues video were shot with the .257 weatherby. Good luck! Darr

    Kowa/Docter Big Eyes

I have a pair of the Kowa Big Eyes. They are unbelievable!!!!!!!!!! I have used the Doctor 40's and there is no comparison in my opinion. The Kowas are crisp and clear all the way to the edge of the field of view. I think the field of view was better with the Kowas as well. The Kowas come with 32X eye pieces but you can also get 20X & 50X eye pieces as well. The Kowas are heavier than the Doctors but they are built way better. You don't want to use the carbon fiber tripods because of the vibration. The only thing that takes some getting used to is the angled eye pieces. The Outdoorsmans stocks the Kowas and the heavy Bogen tripods. I like mine so much I even packed them in with me last year on an over night scouting trip. The binos and tripod together weigh close to 30lbs!!!!! Darr Colburn
