There is always the option that New Mexico follows, meaning the high demand and quality hunts. If an applicant is drawn for a unit with that designation, then they are not able to drawn for any unit with a HD or Q designation the following year. It rotates the hunters in and out of the unit and seems to be a fair approach. The upside is two fold, for the hunter is the odds are better on a year to year basis and the game and fish are more than happy to charge a nominal fee for a higher grade hunt. I would not want to lose the bonus point system in the process, I think it could work in conjunction with the HD/Q system. Thoughts?

I looked at one at the Home Depot here in Surprise for 200-400. It probably not worth the drive, but you might want to ask at the Depot in your area to see if they can ship one in.

great story and better bull!!

I would say number the arrows and see if they are hitting the same spots to make certain it is the arrows and not user error.........then you can mess with the other stuff.

I feel it Gino, this is my 4th year in a row and still no love from the deer gods. I would like to say it has an unexpected result for me, forcing me to use a bow makes me a better hunter and I actually prefer the hunt now. This year will be my first go at a coues deer and we will see how it goes. I am pretty laid back and feel it evens out in the end, but I get that is sucks when it is not my turn. -
heck if it proves to be a white hen I will pitch in.
-
I would go for a white jake as well.....If you kill it you can call it a white hen.

Not drawn for deer I did get drawn for turkey

Heartbreaking is the word that comes to mind after watching that. Tears filled my eyes, after putting a face to the story and name. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers and we pray the Lord comforts you all in this horrible time of need. Summers' family

I am a real estate paralegal and litigation paralegal by day and a jungle gym for my four year old daughter by night. I started hunting at ten (now 36) around Flag and the big ditch and did not hunt for some time when I was away at school. Picked it back up about four years ago archery mostly and I am into learning new hunting tactics and areas. Tony

Great buck and mount!

Your best bet is to get a set of regs at walmart (or other type store) and read the requirements. Once you have read and still do not understand, I would give the game and fish a call. As far as shooting deer on your property.....Kent is correct in needing a tag. In AZ the landowner does not own the game on the land, the state of Arizona does. Sorry for the bummer, but with very few animals this is the only way we can preserve for other generations.

This thread is truly a shame. We live in a free country where people can tell everyone where, when and how they killed their deer on public land. Given that, our hunting areas are not ours exclusively and this sense of entitlement is unfounded. If are not up for the traffic, then hunt a private ranch. I have hunted years in Kaibab and one thing holds true, no matter how many people you cram in an area the real hunters will continue to find the deer and the "rookie" will go home empty. Conversely, I understand the idea that some have put in time and energy into "their" honey holes and they are disappointed, but it should not come as any surprise when this happens in a free country on public land. At the end of the day some many not agree with the way it was handled, but it has happened and you need adjust.

I know not rifle, but they are in the same general area for the early rife tag.

From what I looked at, I would have bet a check that it was human. Heck if anything it is an interesting find.

Best thing that happened was the fact that I forgot the call and just let them call me in.
