    broke in the new 204

40 gr v-max. I had been debating with my self for a while on a predator gun. I have never been happy with fur damage on coyotes from my 223 and 22-250 and I know it would be much worse on fox or bobcats. I was leaning towards a 222 but finding a rifle in it was challenging so I opted for the savage in 204. Once I start hand loading for it I like to give the 32 gr bullets a try. Dont really know what other 5mm bullet selection there is out there.

8700" elevation has a way of doing that : ) actually the pics are kind of deceiving. Guard hairs were good but almost no under coat left.

Dear Game and Fish. . .

Wait, you can road hunt and kill deer in this state?! Count me in!!! Only if you take questionable shots at ranges you've never practiced

Dear Game and Fish. . .

A lot of road hunters tag a bunch of smaller bucks in 11m. Doesnt surprise me. Dont know how many deer are harvested in 11m but I bet its quite a few.

Dear Game and Fish. . .

Wow! Glad you pointed this out. I might have made a mistake this year. If your a die hard 11m fan this could be great. No more 10,000 Phoenicians every single week and 11m does hold some monsters.

    7E last Season

Most hunters hunt between 180 and 89n north of the peaks. A lot of elk in here but remember 7e is big and its all elk habitat except for the real open grass land.
  13. I had that hunt last year. Saw bulls every day of the hunt. The hard part is getting in archery range with crunchy snow on the ground. Pm me and ill share some spots that you will find bulls.

Same tag here. Dont worry. Ill leave you a decent bull : ) haha well thanks, hopefully we have a wet year and a good rut.. Some good bulls will be hitting the dirt. I hope so. Last year 7e had awsome antler growth but the rut was real slow to kick in. I hope its a little earlier this year. I took some video of a bachelor herd of about 75 280-320 bulls. There should be a lot of good shooters in there this year.

    If You Could Trade Tags

I've draw early archery elk tags like clockwork every third year. I'm sitting on 12 lope points and I know I have a long way to go before I draw my 10 or 5b antelope tag. I would trade in a heart beat!

    20 years!!!!!!!

I have had 14 elk tags in the last 16 years. This year is my 5th bull tag in that time. I always put a good bull tag as a first choice and an easy to draw cow tag as my second. I hunt elk nearly ever year and every so often i get my first choice and get to chase bulging bulls.

    What does a tag cost?
  21. I would get a single reed call and start practicing with it now. I think mine is primos. So many guys stop by walmart the night before their hunt and just start blowing. Its quite comical and you can easily hear the difference between an elk and an inexperienced hunter. Watch videos on YouTube and pay attention to their calling sequence and sounds and watch how elk react.scouting is kind of moot. I would start no more than a couple weeks before your hunt. The bulls only start coming out of their deep cover locations a few weeks before the rut. Dont worry too much about finding bulls on an early archery hunt. You will find them. Just start a good hour before sunup in the dark, locate a bugle and move in. Sometimes calling isn't nessicary and just put yourself ahead of where they are going.

Class act bc777. And dont hate everyone from A3. My cousin is one of their guides and I have personally seen him handle the same situation,(someone walking down a trail with his camera) much better than whoever you dealt with.
