Take the money and run. I bought my mariner for 200.

I had one of these tags last year in 7e and I saw bulls almost every day. Finding good vantage points to glass is my strongest suggestion. I tried to put a stalk on a lot of bulls but frozen crunchy ground made it extremely difficult. Even though I didn't tag out I had a lot more opportunities than I ever expected and its one of the coolest feelings to have a bull tag in your pocket and never run into another human for the whole hunt.

Which unit will you be hunting in August?

A proprietary coating done by Robar. Wear resistant, rust resistant. One of the best coatings you have on a gun -
Went out for a nice hike this morning and came up on this group of young bachelors. Stopped just long enough for a few pics.

I dont think there has ever been any real pattern. 1st choice, 2nd choice, youth, regular. Card hits never seem to correlate to any particular hunt.

I feel like the early moisture has greatly benefited the elk this year. I've seen some real studs. Have yet to see any deer that impress me yet but the still have a bunch of growing yet to do.

Cant be over. My card hasn't been hit yet.

Helped a bud out on this hunt last year. Some of the most beautiful country I've ever had the pleasure to be in. One of the best units I've been in for glassing. We came home empty handed but I feel I did learn a lot about this hunt. The rim road is mighty tempting and we worked our tails off working almost every canyon but saw nothing but cows and a few rag horns. Also tons of road hunters. The few people we had met who tagged out shot little bulls. I feel like nearly all decent bulls either dropped into the rez or north down into the cedars. Weather wasn't bad and no snow last year but still nothing worth while up high so I would recommend hunting lower. I think this is a unit that takes some time to master and understand. I feel like a bad a## in my units I normally hunt but I got humbled after this hunt last year.

12AE muzzy. I've never even shot a muzzleloader in my life, but if I get drawn its an excuse to buy a new gun.

Hit the nail on the head. Bring a bow or cross bow for the k9s that come in early. The last bobcat I shot came in just shy of the two hour mark.

Im parting with a few guns to fund a new gun project. Prices are firm. I am located in Flagstaff and will not be traveling anytime soon so transaction will have to be in flagstaff. Two small marks on stock that took me a while to find but otherwise like new. With factory box.$ 600 2. Remington 770 in 300wm. Includes base and rings but no scope. $200 3. Diamond back dbfs9. 9mm. Similar in design to a glock or all the other striker fired guns on the market. Some holster wear. $275 Call or text Nate 928 607-9588 Doing lots of family stuff thus weekend. May not be able to answer calls but will check texts and pm on here often.

Very cool gun.

Did you catch the part of helping reduce the suspect pool when an animal is poached? So only legal tag holders will be suspects?
-
I just think locals who can hunt every day of the hunt will be about the only ones who put in for this hunt, not that anyone else shouldnt.
-
In a few years time there will be. But thats ok. Leave these tags for the locals. We wont have to burn 12+ points to shoot a big buck.

Good Tag? 7 East Peaks Hunt Area 10/21-10/27 Any Elk..

You will have your pick of a bunch of smaller bulls. Finding a big one can be a challenge. -
Me and some buds do it all the time. We set up lawn chairs in a circle in the middle of fields and each spotlight our own direction. We are wanting to build some kind of platform to give us some elevation, but we have yet to design something that we would want to carry to all our sets. I wish az would change the rules about hunting from a vehicle for these night hunts. Those texas boys have some nice rigs for night hunting.

I had the november archery hunt last year in 7e and I learned quite a lot. There are resident elk in all elevation ranges but cold weather or snow will concentrate them to lower elevations so pray for snow. I would focus on trying to find the best glassing locations and 7e has a lot of them. Also look at all corners of the unit. If there is a pine, juniper or oak then its elk habitat and a lot of the unit is over looked and never hunted.

Called this dog in with the primos alpha dogg. Female invitation howl brought him into 200 yards and hung up. I hit pup distress and he ran straight to the call. Finally stopped him at 20 yards. The 204 dropped him in his tracks. No exit even at the close range. Very fur friendly round.

Im going to give it a few years for this change to sink in but I will absolutely put in for this hunt. I remember seeing pictures of bachelor groups from the 70's and 80's that my dad took of bucks at A1. Im talking 30+ 160-190 bucks and he said that how every day of the hunt used to be and even when I hunted there I never went a year without seeing p&y bucks. Not to mention the bucks that hang out in walnut canyon that push 200. All the people have ruined 11m over the past five or so years. To hunt the unit with only 79 other people sounds great and trophy quality will only improve in a unit that is already great.

Haven't had a chance to get out much the last few months with my first son being born in march. I was able to get out for a bit this morning and pick up this decent brown. Will try and match it up tomorrow.
