what is the best broadhead grain for deer!!!!
king4wd replied to Coues Archer's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
100gr g5 striker -
I used the sign method during my pop's cow elk hunt in 10 last year. Put the sign up as we hiked in and pulled it as we went out. Only on dead end roads though. If it's a "Through Road" then all's fair. It's public land and we need to be respectful to one another. Don't even get on topic of USO.....

If the guy wants privacy he needs to pay thousands of dollars to hunt a private ranch or go to the Rez. IT'S PUBLIC LAND! SUCK IT UP!!! At least they didn't mess with your stuff. Hope it stays that way.

Good Stuff. Thanks for sharing!

Very Nice! Colin finally got a scope for that rifle you gave him. We need to break him away from Medic school this fall and show him what yote bustin' is all about. Taking Colin Callin'!

I've had better luck with Kaibab this time of year. A bobber with a worm about 1.5 feet down would fill my 6 fish limit in about an hour.

What is the Ideal Arrow and Broadhead Choice for Elk?
king4wd replied to mulie hunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Last Elk I killed was with a a 400 gr Carbon Express with a 100 gr 4blade muzzy. Worked good for me but it was 10 yards quartering away. No shoulder blade to worry about. I've heard of folk using just about anything on them. The owner of Prescott Valley Archery has praised the slick tricks in conversation. Just seems too small for me. For an arrow, I'd like to try a whack with the Easton Axis N-fused 500 gr. Just my $.02. -
Wow, those things are way better than my home made jobbers.

Y'all helped me choose a powder, now bullets?
king4wd posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thanks for getting me squared away with the .270 powder. I am looking for a good bullet that must meet the following requirements: Must have a BC of .43 or higher Maintains terminal performance at 500 yards Must be 140 gr or less Must be terminal down to 2000 fps I don't know if this is being too picky or not. I loaded it up with the 130 nosler ballistic tips. One of y'all told me that you and some company had some issues with the long range performance. Thanks for the help in advance. -
as far as I know, the only thing you cant use an E-caller on is waterfowl. Montana decoys make a good cow elk decoy and recently I found a company called heads up decoy http://www.headsupdecoy.com/

This is some camera stuff I've got for sale. I have hot glued fabric and other material on the cameras to keep "would be thieves" from seeing them. The last camera has had all the fabric ripped off by a squirrel. It's up in a squirrel nest now. All this gear cost me about $750. I'm willing to take $400 for all this gear. If interested PM me. Thanks. Moultrie D40 Flash This camera has worked flawlessly for me for 2 years now. Follow THIS LINK to find out more on this model. Here's a sample photo taken with this camera: Moultrie I-60 infrared This camera is the sweetest one in the bunch. Quality is high, no flash, built in viewer, and more. This specific one has trouble keeping accurate time. You have to reset the clock each time you check the cam. Follow THIS LINK to learn more on the I-60 Here's a sample photo from this camera: Moultrie I-50 infrared CABELA'S EXCLUSIVE Moultrie doesn't have any info on their site but you can go HERE to check it out. It's been a great camera also! Here's a sample photo from this camera: Accessories Solar Panel Made for moultrie cams. Will greatly increase your battery life. Has cut on cord from squirrels. Still works though. Will work with the I-60 or I-50. More Info Home Made Anti Theft Boards I made these to mount the camera high up in trees out of reach and where most thieves don't look. I carry a tree stand ladder with me to get the cams up there. Batteries All these cams take D size batteries. I'm gonna include 24 D batteries SD cards Including 3 SD cards and a case for them. Here's all the stuff

Fire Restrictions in Tonto NF
king4wd replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
It's important to check out the restrictions of where you're going. Around here in Prescott we are going into level 1 restrictions. You can still go shooting and have fires in campgrounds. There's 3 levels of restrictions and you need to know what each level means. -

Nicely Done! That second shot looked like a pump station knock out! That wasn't a plug for FUSE products was it? Good work A+!!!! -
My folks were telling me that they read in the Prescott Courier that there was another rabid fox attack yesterday near Thumb Butte. Don't go into the woods without some heat!

Just got my .270 winchester dies and I'm looking for the best powder for it. I'm looking to use a 150 gr. Berger VLD. I'm shooting it through a model 700. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

I got a spot around town here that I've found a few sheds in the last few weeks. No Coues or Elk around here. Just Mulies and Turkey. I'm pretty sure these bucks are some of the owners of the sheds I've found just small 2X2's.

When I worked for the Kaibab NF in Williams, we would see very respectable deep forked mulies quite often up in 10. This buck came from 10 close to the Perrin Ranch. Not mine, but a buddy's. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?...mageID=22479601

Nah, My taxidermist sends my skins out of state. He's worked with a lot of tannerys and has only a select few that he uses.

The name's Arch or Jeff. Firefighter/EMT in Prescott. Don't know how I can help you unless you have a cat stuck in your tree or a smoke detector that needs testing. Born and raised in Prescott. Went to school in Flagstaff. Been married for 1 month yesterday. I worked for the Prescott National Forest for 3 years and know the West half pretty well if anyone need help in that respect.

The only thing I've read on glassing is one short chapter in David Long's book titled Public Land Mulies. He has a four stage glassing method he talks about in there.
