223 on the receiver. From what I've read, the only mini 14 you cant shoot 556 in is the mini 14 target.

How many rnds?

I went from the A3s to a MCM game scout on my last build and love it so far. Feels like an A3 to shoot, but the forearm grip is more comfortable to hold and carry as its slimmer. Also 3/4 of a pound lighter than my A3s. The A3 is a nicer stock to shoot due to the check weld and comb though.

I have used the Amax on a dozen kills. Pigs to Elk and the performance has been great. I wouldn't shoot an elk in the shoulder at close range, but I have seen the Amax exit on mature bulls at range. They open up down to around 1600fps where Ive heard the Bergers need 1800 plus.

The Amax is my go to bullets in all but my 338.

I have used nickel once. The necks were rough and therefor the extreme spreads were all over the place. I will never use it again for a longrange rig.

What 6.5?

If it feeds from the mag or the box then your fine. Also you may not even care if it feeds then just single feed them.

I got the 700rc and it seams really nice. I will have a better feel after pig here in a few weeks.
