Let me guess you guys take pictures to make the animals look as small as possible? Even if he tells you the scores it won't help you field judge. Your are probably the guys that take pics sitting on the back of your dead elk like your riding it. The last buck I know is just shy of 170. Those bucks are as good as you get on the early hunt.

Yep hope for snow on the strip on august. Good stuff right there.

If it's dry sit a tank. If it's wet and you don't scout good luck seeing a deer. It's BIG country with few deer. I would highly recommending scouting and setting some cameras. We set like 15 cameras a month before the hunt and only had 1 or 2 tanks worth sitting.

Matthews Phillips' Lion
azoutlaw replied to AZ Ground Pounders's topic in AZ Ground Pounders Outfitters Blog
I'm only gonna say kudos to bonecollector if he is a houndsman that at the young age of 22 he already respects his sport to stick up for what he believes. I know plenty of lion hunters that are twice his age that kill any lion that trees. This argument is obviously not going to go over well on a site dedicated to coues deer but his facts on deer numbers and kills are hard to argue with. The issue is you have these outfitters that brag how they never kill females but as soon as they catch one with a client. Boom. If they were in the snow then they knew it was a female and shouldn't have dumped out on it if they really didn't want to kill a female. I also blame it on the outfitters not the hunter. -
Props to the dude that packed coors light up the mnt. Lmao.

Very cool double. Congrats

.Let me try to throw an example out there 1-- lets say you put unit 9 bull first and 6a cow second. You draw a mediocre number thats not low enough for a 9 bull tag but good enough for a 6a cow tag. There were 531 1st and 2nd choice applicants last year for 6a the cow hunt. There is no way of knowing how many were first or second (That i know of) And even if there were there is no way to tell how many of the people that put it as there second choice, drew their first choice. Lets say out of the 531 apps maybe 400 were second choice. So there are so many variables with what happens on those guys first choices to know how many tags would be available on a second choice pick. All depends where your number falls in the order of drawing along with the other 400 people that had a first choice in front of that 6a cow hunt. Does that make sense???? I think i just confused myself so i doubt it. lol By the way that comment was not aimed at you. Just seems a lot of people dont have a clue on the draw proccess. Im far from an expert on it but i at least know the basics enough to make smart choices on my apps.

There is no way to calculate the draw odds of a second choice. To many variables. Now settle down and don't get your panties in a bunch ps Im not an asshole
-
Azcoues. I agree. Our draw system is hands down better than most states. Most people just don't understand how it works.
-
Ceptedator. I agree bonus points are a joke. All they are is another raffle ticket with your name on it dropped in the bucket. When there is 1000 tickets in the bucket having 9 or having one don't make much difference. Different story if your in the max point pool for whatever unit your applying for. Could be 7 points for a lesser unit like 4. Or it could be 20 for a unit like 10.

Azkiller. Say what????? Umpqua is spot on. I can't believe how many of you guys don't even know how the draw process works. Educate yourselves people.

Solution to Water Hole Problems/Confrontations
azoutlaw replied to m77's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The fact is he is not joking. He is a moron and is trying to back pedal once he realized everyone thinks his ideas are ridiculous. Ignore him. I have had only 3 issues ever on water. Once in 6b. Once in 9 and once in 13b. All 3 times I was there first and people came in and said it was there tank. All 3 times I left without saying much except the strip cuz it was a guide and that pissed me off bad. It happens and people just need to be respectful of the law and other people. -
Nice video. Don't post that on bowsite. Lol. 100 yard shot with mechanicals. You will be public enemy number 1. Congrats to your dad
-
165-170. Nice buck.
-
That was directed towards all the guys that get on here and complain about not finding deer in units that suck and have left over tags.
-
Very nice. Good job

So if you don't get drawn for a few years your not a hunter? I'd rather go help a friend on a quality hunt than hunt my butt off in a garbage unit to shoot a dink buck. That's just me. I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go around
-
Why do people put in for these hunts? I don't feel sorry for you.

I don't slobber over pics of little bulls. Cool pic of the cow with funky ear though

Arizona Unit 9 Archery Elk Season 2012
azoutlaw replied to Jay Scott's topic in Jay Scott Outdoors/Colburn and Scott Outfitters
What do u think that bull scores? -
I agree. Packing in a camp in 11m is a waste of time. Everything changes when the rut starts so don't bevy worried that your not seeing much right now
-
My thoughts exactly. You look pretty young to have enough sheep points to even consider looking for a guide.
