I'll be putting in for the Oregon Dec Columbia Whitetail tag. Well they do draw one non-resident maybe I can get lucky like I have been in AZ in the past. I'll also put in for the central OR coast Dec Elk Cow hunt. It's a new draw and I'll probably draw that one.

just noticed that this was called back up to the top ..... what a great time I had. I still tell the Lion story ... yep time for me to be thinking about if the real deer have ever made a comback in Unit 23 !!!!!

When does the Regs come out with the drawing info ? I feel a Coues tag coming my way

No .... the Native Corp lands are private no trespass ..... This is a Tongass National Forest Buck ..... My Daughter is going to the University in Missoula Mt and they are also using the past Tongass Management as how not to do things ..... But I do expect Bush will do a few drastic .... probably anti-environmental ..... moves before he walks out the door. Now if he would only De-list the Wolf !!!!!!!

Well .... there might be a few left .... and the deer population hasn't really crashed ..... yet We took this one the other day ...... And with young minds and some solid habitat management .... maybe it won't

I didn't get drawn again .... Oh thats right I didn't put in !!!!!! I wish now I would have .... I have to keep my lucky streak of 4 draws for the 5 times I have put in !!!!! Even though there are no Coues in unit 23 I would have liked that Dec Tag again ..... Any one draw that one ?????? I'm thinking Feb pig for my fun in the sun this winter ..... Sweet ....... But we know it can't be unit 23 it musta been unit 22 ..... we ALL know there are no deer in unit 23 .

I just knew one of those Dec tags had my name on it ...... but I think the front office messed up ...... I just figured that even though they know there are no deer in 23 they would just sell that tag to a guy from Alaska. "He won't know there arn't any deer there and look at all that out of state license and tag money we make." But I do get to go to take a Dec visit Young any way ...... drew the Cow tag ....... One thing for sure ....... I will have a Lion tag in my pocket this time while hunting around there ...... Good luck to you lucky guys that drew the Tag !!!!!!

well I didn't get that Dec Wt in unit 23 ..... I guess thats OK because we all know there arn't any deer around there any way .... I did get my second choice Elk though .... late Cow in 23 so my Son and I will be going to Young in Dec anyway .... In fact there are so few Deer in 23 (if any at all) that they are only going to issue 50 December tags this fall. I guess they just didn't want to rip that many people off. Oh .... did I say I plan on one of those tags

Season before last I was soooo shocked that there were no Deer in unit 23 (when we hunted it during the December hunt) ..... that we plan on drawing the same tag this season just to go in there and make sure it is true ...... ...... I know I'm buying a Lion tag this time though ......

Elk ....... 1 Deer .... 0 I plan on drawing unit 23 Dec bull and I would put in for unit 23 Dec deer IF there were ANY Deer in the unit

i'm sure glad no one drew that unit 23 tag ..... we ALL know there arn't many (if any) deer there anyway ..... Good luck to all you Dec hunters. Wish I was there .....

It's to try to get that big ole Tom Lion .... thier hoping that some "deer" hunter will shoot it .... I think he killed off what deer were left around there Be sure and get a Lion tag Joe ..... By the way are there any Javelinas down in that #45?

Come to think of it it was in 23 ..... actually the only deer we saw was the 2 we got ..... it was down along that river ...... they were all wet from just swimming the river over from that other unit (21 or 22 I think it is) ...... there was probably a fire over there Red Rabbit. yes Rembrant we paid our fine ..... actually the fine was we had to sit out this years hunt !!!!! Really ..... my son's wife is going to have a baby later this month and with the travel down for that and with all the fall action for my son we have planned to sit this one out. I will take my winter vacation hunt in Feb .... we will put in for pigs ..... any one have any suggestions about units out there that DON'T have any pigs in them???? I wish you all luck in the draw and hope you get your first choice. Hope you didn't put in for unit #23 ...... there are NO Deer there The no internet rule will probably mean you AZ boys will have a better handle on things.

Last season I had a great hunt with my son. It was his first deer hunt. We hunted late Dec in unit 23. We both took bucks. It was a great hunt, we saw lots of game, including a close encounter with a Lion (I'll never be without a tag again). Oh ..... did I say unit 23 ...... it couldn't have been 23 ...... there are no Deer in that unit ..... It must have been in some other unit ..... I forgot the number, I'v slept since then and it's my Alzheimers !!!!!!

Let see ... do I as a small buisnessman have an issue with that statement ... Yes I do. I am required by law to pay at least a certain wage and provide workmans comp for my employees. This reqirement (by law) has a lot to do with what I have to charge for my product. I would love to be able to hire an 'illeagle' so I could get around all that is required by law so I could market a lower dollar hunt and net more money. Just beacuse the college kids don't come up and work the fish canneries up here like they used to and now the fish companies have to use Mexican labor to fill the ranks on the 'slim line' dosen't mean they pay that labor force bottom dollar and skirt the other labor laws. By the way the Fed enforcement checks regularly the Mexican work force up here and there is very few 'illeagle' workers. If you don't think 'W" and big AG (and big Oil) are in bed together .... HELLO

I just think the big AG boys have put pressure on Bush to not do much about the illeagle flow. They say they need the laborers. I thought Bush sometime back said he would boost the BP by over 2000 officers !!! During his campaign he also promised to up hold our hunting rights !!! Go .... Bush

I've been trying to decide what I will do. Paper tag apps are a good idea and I hope they come out with a few more good ones to give the Residents some more advantage. But there always should be some room for us Alaskan hunters !!!! I probably won't put in for whitetail this season. So ultramag can have my unit #23 slot. Oh I just forgot there are NO deer in that unit. Well maybe he can go in gunning for that big Cat I should have had a tag for and could have taken easy. I think I'll save my southern winter hunt for the Feb Javie Hunt.
