Good to hear the Arizona Game and Fish is past the last hurdle. The 10 percent of tags per hunt number is fantastic it should have been in place a long time ago.

Did you get to scout before the hunt because it was such a quick notice? How many buffalo were in the group? Do you know if the three other hunters harvested one?

I also agree that Archery Only should not be included with crossbows. I think the disabled should take advantage of the general hunts. Too me it's comparable to a rifle being used on a muzzloader hunt.

trophyhntr what you described about elevations and weather sounds perfect. Yes scouting closer to the hunt will be better. Also hope it snows a lot!

Throughout the years my experiences of archery hunting the kaibab I've noticed much less does and smaller bucks. I hope it will change soon the drought and fire has really destroyed the unit over the last 9 years. I also heard even with all the buck permits and doe permits issued this year there will still be a about an 8% population increase on the Kaibab. I find it hard to believe but it would be nice if it's true. The last time the Kaibab had 1,000 tags was back in 2001. Tags then went to 635 in 02', 300 in 03', 500 in 04'. Winter moisture will be a big contributor to how many tags we see in future years.

I drew the tag this year also along with my father, fathers friend and brother. Also have a friend who drew the late hunt. Knew a guy last year who took a 200+ buck on the early hunt with snow on the ground. I helped a family member on the late hunt last year, tons of bucks but still hard to find a monster. Duwane Adams camp did do very well last year and all three of those bucks were awesome! Most likely where I hunt will all depend on the weather, just hope we get some snow. I've hunted unit 10 deer archery in December and January for many years now. Even in the winter the big bucks are hard to find in that unit. I've seen a few near 30" during that hunt but thats over about 5 years. Look around Williams corner, Aubrey Cliffs, Boquillas Ranch and Cataract Canyon. There are also good areas between with good bucks but there isn't too many deer in that unit...Good Luck.

Got my tags today, they always come late in the northern part of the state. I guess they save best for last.

Any free tag with no bonus points being taken away is probably worth going after. The hunts can be very tough but with plenty of scouting you should have no problem harvesting a buck in 30A or 30B.

Don't care about 30A/B, just wondering if they take your bonus points on left over permits? Can't believe none of you are after the 7M archery cow elk leftover permits.
