Draw results are getting closer.

If they are charging cards like the web site says, or (processing the money), it's really hard to believe it will take until the 16th of next month like stated on the website. Last year it took them 3.5 business days wed, thur, fri, weekend, 1/2 Monday, to process funds and release draw results for all species. They were receiving tons of phone calls because they released draw results later than they ever have. I have a feeling this two month process is to slow the calling down, and make it attainable to release results ahead of schueldule. Then they think they are hard working individuals... -
Over the counter archery deer tag gone?

Dave I understand your point for the most part. I have a question...Since when has the first choice been the only choice counted as the demand? The way I know it is the first two choices are looked at, which means both choices have the same demand. If you want only your first choice as high demand that means it's the only unit your willing to hunt so it should be the only choice you put down. -
Over the counter archery deer tag gone?

Yep, and the more we restrict ourselves with smaller areas to hunt and more controlled draws, the less hunting that we all will be doing. Someday we'll all have our own square mile to hunt it will be so restricted.. -

Over the counter archery deer tag gone?

I agree with above...if we as hunters start limiting ourselves to only hunt when drawn then the sport of hunting will never be the same. I look at archery deer as what keeps the tradition of hunting alive in Arizona. Once a draw is set on archery deer it would be really hard to ever bring it back to an OTC hunt. Like I said before, limit the rifle hunters because of high success factors, before using the archery hunters with much lower success to have less time in the field. -

Gamehauler, I believe the rejection of credit card issue is why last year they started charging accounts before letting anybody know what they had or hadn't drawn. In 2004 they charged cards after the results were released, and I was one of the ones they called because my credit card company had changed on me. Luckily, I was able to correct the issue and receive the tag, where if it had happened last year or this year, the tag would have gone to somebody else and I would have never known I had even drawn. Currently before posting results they do all the charging of cards, and if rejected giving the tag to the individual with the next lowest number. This could be what causes the results slightly longer to post. -

I can't argue with what you said, that's the best news I've heard all day!!! -
That's pretty neat looking country, steep and quadless. It looks like a male lion is marking his territory..

If they ever put the archery as a draw it would suck....bad. I would rather see G&F cut back on the rifle tags for any animal before they take away the only guarantee hunt available. OTC Archery Deer was created for the majority of us to brush off the bows and get in the woods for a couple weeks a year. Putting the Kaibab/13A hunt to a draw would be bad enough. If they go to draw for all units in the State, well that's when it will really stink.. If it did ever happen I would put rifle first, archery second just because of draw odds. -
That buck is a Monster..

Around the end of March seems seems likely. Does Tennessee still process Arizona's draw, or is it another State? I was curious to look on the website to see if they have a posting date schedule available. Coke Zero has got to be the best, Diet Dew has always tasted like Thera Flu..

I believed the 40% less applications, but I was sure somebody forgot the decimal .0000000004 less for elk. It looks like the antelope odds will drop from less than one percent to less than half a percent..

From past history it looks like this will be the second dry El Nino of the last 15 years... Winter Season year on the left. (Oct - Apr) Winter Precipitation in the middle. (Oct - Apr) Winter Snowfall on the right. (Oct - Apr) SST State 1991-1992 19.22" 158.9" El Niño 1992-1993 32.28" 149.4" El Niño 1993-1994 15.43" 109.5" Neutral 1994-1995 16.54" 95.1" El Niño 1995-1996 2.83" 28.5" La Niña 1996-1997 9.30" 107.5" Neutral 1997-1998 12.50" 136.4" El Niño 1998-1999 9.46" 71.5" La Niña 1999-2000 5.54" 74.4" La Niña 2000-2001 12.09" 125.1" Neutral 2001-2002 4.02" 38.9" Neutral 2002-2003 8.51" 54.9" El Niño 2003-2004 7.95" 50.9" Neutral 2004-2005 26.63" 130.6" El Niño 2005-2006 5.27" 44.6" La Niña 1971-2000 Normals 14.27" 108.2" It is fairly easy to see the year-to-year variability that occurs with precipitation and snowfall accumulation in the winter season for Flagstaff. There is also a relationship between sea surface temperatures in the Pacific Ocean and winter season precipitation in Flagstaff. During El Niño, the average precipitation recorded was 19.28" with 120.9" of snowfall during those years. During La Niña, there has been less precipitation and snowfall with 5.78" of precipitation and 54.8" of snowfall recorded during those years. During "neutral" states of sea surface temperature, it can be seen that a wide range of precipitation and snowfall occur, which represents normal year-to-year climate variability. As can be seen, El Niño and La Niña don't make it a 100% guarantee that it will be wetter or drier than normal, but they tend to tip the scales in that direction. As we all know in northern Arizona, there are no 100% guarantees when it comes to weather! However, with a moderate El Niño event occurring in the Pacific Ocean, the possibilities for a wetter than normal winter are enhanced.

The earliest I've found sheds was Feb 28th also. It was in 05' after the best winter we've seen in a while, and I'm not sure if that had something to do with the early drops. Two antlers were 330" class and one was a four point. From past experience the best shed hunting will be around March 20th when most of the bigger six points will be on the ground. Around The first and second week of April is when the 250-300 class five and six points usually drop.
