Bounty the Dog Hunter replied to josh's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Good thing you did not have the boys spend the night at my house. Elle would have had them way too hopped up on sugar to go out with you. Nice Job!! -
First Yote of the year
Bounty the Dog Hunter replied to bstpeter's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
I prefer shooting a rifle over camera, but it looks like you were well within range for either. Heck of a nice pictue though. -
No problem

Posting that pic is like a billboard. What was the turnaround time??

Great job, congrats on the first fox!

I can get you out to 500 at Rio Salado...You can actually go 600 on paper or 500 on steel targets. Once you shoot in 3 matches you can use the long ranges without any hassle. Its cool as heck because there is no one breathing down your neck like at Ben Avery. If you go after 2pm it is a ghostotwn on the long range. Rangemaster comes around every 30 min or so to make sure no one is getting to wild.Yes you need to be with a member to use the long ranges but I am sure there is no problem finding someone in here to get you on. If you are in need hit me up as I am there at least twice a month and dont mind helping anyone from the forum out. Its actually about 5 degrees cooler than Avery and they have a full on kickass gunsmith "ACCURACY SPEAKS" on site. They have helped me more times than I would like to admit. Hard to go long range anywhere in the desert these days and stay safe. The offer stands, I can get you guys on if you want, let me know.

SAKO 85 FINNLIGHT .270 WSM
Bounty the Dog Hunter replied to TREESTANDMAN's topic in Long Range Shooting
I have both a Sako and Tikka. My Tikka T3 is also chambered in 270 WSM, it is by far the lightest hunting rifle I own and very accurate with a Burris 4x14 on top. I have never had much problem inside 600yds with factory ammo, past that I have not been impressed. I will admit that I am only an average shot and certainly no sniper but I punch paper pretty well out to 700-800yds with reasonable accuracy. I fired a Sako a few months ago and had to have one! I new right away that I was weilding what I like to refer to as the Hand of God. I know we are not comparing apples to apples here but I recently purchased my first Sako and it is without any doubt the most accurate rifle I have ever fired. I bought the TRG-42 in .338 LM. This is a much more Tactical setup. It is topped with a Schmidt and Bender 12x50x56 (yes it is for long, long range but I regret going with a 12x rather than a 5x ) I have many rifles in varied Calibers and for me the quality of the Sako is the most impressive period. This rifle will make anyone a top shooter. If it is accuracy you seek you will be hard pressed to find an out of the box equal (for the money) than a SAKO. As far as price goes the Tikka is very competitive, and it is a top performer for the money. I would not dare talk down on any rifle maker as I have most brands and calibers at my disposal and usually opt for my Savage in 7MM or Tikka 270 WSM over much higher priced "Custom" rifles in my safe. Remington, Ruger, Marlin they all make fine rifles. I would save the money on a reasonably priced rifle and put it towards the absolute best optic you can afford. Just my .02 cents -
My name is Sal Augone I am 36 years old and have lived in Phoenix for 33 years. I am a novice hunter but love to hunt and stay outdoors. I grew up hunting with my friends and other than the family, my fondest memories are from the time spent in the field. I have recently begun a small startup called AZ Shooter Supply primarily selling tactical firearm accessories but looking to expand into firearms. I also own a Radiology center in Chandler. We do mostly Cancer Imaging but we perform all the routine studies such as MRI, CT, Ultrasound etc. I am very impressed with the wealth of knowledge contained in these forums, but even more so with the passion in which information is shared by members. I am getting much more enjoyment and success now that I have begun to apply the techniques the members have posted here. My new motto is "From the forum to the field". If anyone in these forums is in need of any type of Radiology services, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will make sure you are taken care of, just be ready to buy some coffee and take me calling. Good luck and god bless

Ggrrr we are mad!!
Bounty the Dog Hunter replied to Ernesto C's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Sucks to hear bout the dog and the trouble for your family....sounds like an eye (preferably eyes) for an eye situation is more than warranted. I would love to test out my new caller this weekend and learn how to use it before it cools down. I have a feeling if you post the general local the fine members of this forum could help you thin things out for your family if needed. Good Luck and God Bless -
Bandit vs Scorpion??
Bounty the Dog Hunter replied to Bounty the Dog Hunter's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Thanks for the reply....and nice pic!!!! -
I am aware that this topic is played out but I am ordering a caller tomorrow and I want to hear from people that have used both. I have used the Minaska and consider it great. I have not used the Scorpion but I like the features on the remote. I was looking at the TX9 remote vs the TX 200. Please enlighten me as to which is better and why. I understand that there are many other choices besides Minaska or Foxpro but weight and portability are the priority for me as a novice caller just getting started. Thanks for any feedback

My dry spell finally ended!
Bounty the Dog Hunter replied to josh's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Wow, would have been nice to let me shoot at one of the other 3 bucks. Nice shot and great buck, I would have helped you haul it out but I was busy freezing my @$$ off, alone on a mountain top after my friends left me...haha. Got the binos upgraded we will see what happens next year! -
dang....I must say all those late nights drinking warm cans of Schaeffer have served you well. I heard I may be seeing you in 21 for the deer hunt. I was looking for the pics of the Fox Chris sent me today...nice job on the Hat trick!

Another Robert Cat Down
Bounty the Dog Hunter replied to josh's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
You sure do have alot of time on your hands.....I aspire to be able to skip lunch and kill a Bobcat instead....Me and Chris have to make up lame excuses to call in and play hookie so we can get a few stands in...those are sweet pics though. -
Stacey, No....I actually just charged the battery today so I can take it to the shop. I have not gotten on the quad since the last hunting trip we were on and I destroyed my leg trying to get up competition hill. Thanks for reminding me...I will have the mighty Polaris back next week though...you ready to head up to Crown King for lunch??? Come to think of it whenever you are around we have bad luck...I rolled my quad at Seven Springs, Chris flipped his in Crown King, and to add insult to injury we never get to kill anything....You better go see a Monk to get your Aura cleansed or something, otherwise you will have to stay home with the ex-wife...haha
-
Nice....Did you call that in or did Chris??

FOR ALL YOU BEGINNERS OUT THERE...LISTEN UP I AM STILL REPLAYING THE MOMENT IN MY MIND....ANDRENILINE PUMPING AS I GLIMPSE THE MOVEMENT OF THE CAT OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE...IT IS CREEPING IN SLOW AND CAUTIOUS...SURVEYING THE LANDSCAPE FOR THE SOURCE OF ITS DEMISE....THE MINASKA IS WAILING LOUDLY, CHRIS IS AT THE REMOTE LIKE THE PIED PIPER LURING HER EVER SO CLOSE. SHE PAUSES AT THE END OF A FALLEN TREE, HER BODY IS MOSTLY COVERED FROM VIEW. HER HEAD IS UP AND ALERT AS SHE SCANS THE BRUSH. SHE IS MAJESTIC, FOR A SECOND WE ARE IN SYNC. WE ARE BOTH THERE FOR THE SAME REASON, TO HUNT AND TO KILL. LIKE HER I AM CAUTIOUS TRYING TO CONTROL THE INSTINCT TO RUSH. WE ARE BOTH READY NOW THIS IS THE MOMENT, IT ALL COMES DOWN TO TIMING, NO ROOM FOR ERROR...NO ROOM FOR ALL THE MISSED OPPORTUNITIES OF THE PAST....THE MOMENT IS NOW! EVEN THOUGH I KNOW IT IS COMING THE SIMPLE SQUEEZE OF THE TRIGGER SENDS A DEAFENING SOUND THROUGHOUT THE LANDSCAPE THAT STARTLES ME. I AM EXCITED, KNOWING THAT THE SHOT WAS WELL PLACED AND HIT ITS MARK. INSIDE 100 YARDS....YOU CAN HIT A BEER CAN ALL DAY WITH A SCOPED AR....BUT THERE IS NO HEART POUNDING EXCITEMENT TO SHAKE UP YOUR CONCENTRATION...IF YOU MISS YOU SIMPLY SHOOT AGAIN. THIS IS DIFFERENT...THE PRESSURE IS ON JUST SEEING THE CAT...YOU RUN THROUGH A 100 THOUGHTS IN A SECOND THEN TRY TO CLEAR YOUR HEAD TO FOCUS AT THE TASK AT HAND. YES I AM SURE I HIT IT....BUT I HAVE BEEN SURE BEFORE ONLY TO HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED BY THE REALITY OF FAILURE. I HEAR CHRIS SCREAMING "WHAT DID YOU SEE???" "WHAT WAS IT?"..............."IT WAS A BOBCAT" I SCREAM BACK...."DID YOU GET IT?" HE ASKED....I HAD TO PAUSE AS I WAS LOOKING THROUGH MY SCOPE FOR SOME CONFIRMATION....I SEE NOTHING BUT BRUSH....NO SIGN OF A KILL...NO MOVEMENT AT ALL. I ALMOST COULD NOT ANSWER....ALREADY THINKING TO MYSELF "HOW DID I MANAGE TO F THAT UP...I WAS SO FOCUSED. I YELL TO CHRIS WHO IS ALREADY HALFWAY TO THE LOG "I THINK I HIT IT?" CHRIS IS FRANTICALLY TEARING UP THE TERRAIN SEARCHING FOR A BLOOD TRAIL. HE YELLS TO ME " ARE YOU SURE? I DID NOT SEE shoot!" I START HEADING DOWN TO THE LOCATION WHERE I THOUGHT SHE WOULD BE. GOING DOWN THE HILL WAS THE WORST. HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED? I WAS WITING TO SEE THE CAT JUMP 3 FEET HIGH LIKE ALL THE VIDEOS I HAVE SEEN....I DIALED DOWN THE SCOPE TO LET IN A BETTER FOV....THE CAT MUST BE DOWN!!! I MEET CHRIS ATH THE BASE OF OUR HILL AND RUSHED TO THE SPOT....CHRIS WAS ASKING WHERE I HIT IT....I TOLD HIM IT WAS A HARD SHOT BECAUSE SHE WAS HIDING BEHIND A FALLEN TREE....HER SHOULDER WAS PARTIALLY BLOCKED...." I SHOT RIGHT UNDER THE NECK AT THE SHOULDER" AS I APPROACHED THE SPOT I SAW HIS FACE LIGHT UP....HE LET OUT A "heck YEAH"....."THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT" THE CAT WAS THERE! RIGHT WHERE SHE HAD BEEN READY TO POUNCE A 2 MINUTES EARLIER!!! THE WHOLE TEAM HAD DONE ITS PART....THE BUSHMASTER AND NIKON COMBO PERFORMED FALWLESSLY, THE HORNRADY V-MATCH HAD DELIVERED A K.O. WITHOUT MESSING UP THE FUR. SHE LOOKED LIKE SHE WAS SPARWLED OUT FOR A NAP. LIKE SHE WAS LULLED TO SLEEP BY THE LULLABY THE MINASKA HAD SUNG TO HER. I HAD A GREAT TIME....I HAVE RENEWED HOPE IN THE CALLING BUSINESS....CANT WAIT TO POST NEXT SEASON THANKS, SAL

Are Guns Dangerous?
Bounty the Dog Hunter replied to GameHauler's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I am sure the liberals will attribute alot of the decrease to the assault weapons ban. I would like to think that education and responsible gun owners are helping to keep those statistics down...when do you think they will ban swimming pools??? -
Nice pig......my buddy handed me one on a platter last year and I shot high.....still have not killed anything with my bow but hopefully I will be posing for a pic like yours....nice job!!!
