I bought my first bow this year and have yet to hunt deer with it. I'll be tagging along on a friends archery hunt and may buy my own tag. Don't know if the skills are good enough yet to take the bow into the field. I would hate to would an animal because I jumped into it too quickly... That being said what attracted me to bow hunting was the length of the season and the fact that it's an excuse for me to get out into God's country more and learn about everything it has to offer.

One word...UNCONSTITUTIONAL. If you do some research there is one judge named Keegan in the courts who views it this way and he has thrown out every ticket brought before him... See http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/28/2801.asp Hope this helps a little Jcubed

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had a canoe laying around that they wanted to sell. I'm on a last minute trip to the white mtns and leaving early tomorrow morning. If anyone has one it would be much appreciated. I live in the phoenix area and realize this is a complete last minute thing and am not expecting to find one but figured I would give it a shot. Thanks in advance. Jcubed

Red Rabbit... I know why you had your dog out there....I couldn't believe how many quail we saw on the drive into the camping area! Jcubed

I didn't catch any smallmouth but they were there. I could see them in the water. The fish were really spooked due to all the swimmers all weekend I think (I was up sunday late afternoon and evening). My dad and I are wanting to go fishing on Thursday and are just looking for info on how to access this canyon. Thank for the reply! Jcubed

My brother and I put in for unit 10 due to the fact that we have our elk hunt up there and are unfamiliar with the country. The deer season is an excuse (and reason) to get up there and scout and maybe get lucky and see a buck or two. It's a harder draw but if we're not drawn I'm going to probably grab one of the leftovers down south.

Went up to Saguaro lake twice in the last two weeks. In all probably caught 70-80 bluegill all on light tackle. The fish were really fun to catch and I even took the girlfriend the second day and introduced her to the our sport. After getting really frustrated because all she was catching were bushes she finally started getting the hang of setting the hook and landed a lot of fish. It was a great time. If anyone has any kids, it would be a great time to take them out to the lake for some bluegill. ~Jcubed Also caught about twenty or so striped bass about 7-8" long. I didn't know that these fish were in Saguaro but I was catching them. Hopefully they're not too hard on the fish population there.

Well, you learn something new everyday and in this case I learned a few new things. Thanks for the tips on the catfish set ups. I'm going to have to go out and get some bigger hooks and some larger weighs to try fishing for them. As for the yellow bass, now I know what they look like. Next time I go out I'll bring my camera so that I can post a picture. Thanks again for all the input guys. Jcubed

I'm pretty sure they weren't yellow bass. I was really suprised about it too so I asked some of the other guys fishing in the boats and they said that G&F introduced them a while back. I didn't really understand why G&F would do that but they were definitely small stripers. The fish had a greyish silver color with the black lines...but then again...I could be wrong Jcubed KGAINES I would really like to learn how to fish for catfish. I'm not a very accomplished warm water fisher as I'm usually out after trout but Saguaro lake is close and finances don't really let me head up north all that often anymore. What sort of tackle/set ups do you use for catfish? What's the best time and approach for them? Thanks for any help in advance.

Brother and I just got drawn for a Unit 10 antlerless hunt and I was looking into some optics for the hunt but am utterly confused as to what would be the best option. We plan on starting to hunt a lot and figure a good scope or binoculars would be a good piece of equipment to have. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks Jcubed

Thanks for the help there, can't believe I didn't specify...must be the adrenaline from just finding out we were drawn! I should have been more specific...that being said... Looking for info on spotting scopes/binoculars for the hunt and as for funds I guess we could split the cost so maybe up to $1000.

We drew the late antlerless hunt in December. I haven't spent much time up there myself personally so in talking with my brother we think we're just going to try and find some sign and elk and start with that area and expand outwards. We hope to find a few different places to hunt so that if on opening morning all the other hunters choose the same place we will have some options. We're both fairly young and really focused on fililng both our tags so we will probably be looking for a few spots that are a bit of a hike as to deter the road hunters from bothering us...of course I am saying this all without knowing a lot about the area and whether it is criss-crossed with road like some places in Arizona. We'll keep an eye out for bulls though and will readily share any info or sightings we come across. We do have a friend who has a cabin in the unit (he's the one who talked us into the unit) and he said he would help us out a bit...so we have our fingers crossed. Jcubed

I'm relatively new to the board (been a lurker forever and I think this is my first post) but just wanted to share the news that my brother and I have been drawn for Unit 10 antlerless hunt! We're just getting into hunting and have been putting in for a number of years but never had much luck with the draw. Needless to say we are excited about the prospect of filling the freezer with meat! Does anyone know when unit ten will be accessible to start familiarizing ourselves with the country? We plan on spending a lot of time up there in order to be prepared for our hunt. Good luck to everyone with their scouting! Oh yeah...if we find any monster bulls we'll tell those of you with bull tags where we find them... Jcubed
