She is in town. We are heading to a party with her family today. I had a great time with Jack on the hunt. Ended up taking a nice buck. If we can swing it maybe we can get together before Mina leaves town.

Bonecollector, I think you need to start checking your facts before impugning a person's character on an internet forum.

Unit 27 is CLOSED

Those guys and gals in Morenci have a lot of time on their hands after work...equates to the bears being harvested quickly, I believe. -
Like Amanda said, the SCI youth camp will have people who know the area, place to camp with a group, etc. I'll be at the Women's Coues camp right across the road from 36A in 36C the first weekend of the hunt. For help and not having spent much time at all in the unit...I would do what we did on Joe's hunt. Get up high early and glass. The whitetail bucks seem to like ocotillo down south, so if you find areas with lots of that glass it. You will see deer all day, so don't get discouraged with the glassing. Look for parts of deer (legs, tail, ear moving, etc.) and glass slowly. Sometimes midday is one of the best times because the deer get up, stretch, and change positions due to the changing shadows. One thing I would suggest for your scouting is to find a couple different locations to glass in areas that look good to you. With a couple different locations already mapped out, you have options if another hunter is in one of "your spots." Let me know if you I can help you out.

Dave, Good to see you on the site! I talked to a couple buddies down in that area and they know 36b better. If I get a chance when I head out and scout 36C I will drop into 36A and see if I can't find something interesting for you. For everyone else, Dave is a great guy trying to get his sons interested in hunting. I had the pleasure of helping his other son out on a junior deer hunt with another board member. It was a great time. He's not looking for "honey holes" but rather just a place to try and get his son seeing deer on his first hunt. Good luck!

Out again today in a different location...Empire ranch aka las cienegas national conservation area. Didn't see or hear and quail all afternoon. Not only that but decided I wouldn't even shoot if I did jump any as the grass was up to my chest. Made for walking to be pretty interesting at times down near the water. Did see a group of mulies, handful of whitetail, some antelope, and nice coues shed. Also ran across a rattler who wasn't too happy to see me.

TTT...gonna give this thread some new life. I just got back from a scouting trip down in the unit. Went for a pretty good hike straight up the mountain to get to a good glassing spot. Spent a lot of time behind the glass and saw some good signs in the form of deer Hope everyone out there is doing well... -
Ditched the quail idea in favor of scouting for deer. Sure am glad I did...didn't see nor hear any quail in the area I was at. Deer on the other hand, I saw some good signs for the upcoming hunt.

Pretty much what I figured but I can hunt and glass for deer in my unit. Seems like a win win...

I'm thinking about going out early in the morning but my usual spots here around Tucson have not had any birds sighted or heard recently. Thus, I'm thinking about heading down south but don't really know a direction to go...Tomorrow may be a bit of an adventure...

I'll be in Unit 36c assuming no school duties mess with my plans...
