Got the telephoto lens for the Canon. It's a Raynox model. They usually run about $50-60, but I lucked out and found one on E-Bay for for $16! I'm taking it out this weekend, but from just messing around with it at the house it seems to work great. Raynox

To be totally fair and honest, all those charges against Taulman were thrown out from what I understand. Not sure about the other guy though. Doesn't mean he is innocent, just that the judge threw out the case.

Cerro Colorados! seriously!!!!

All of you are wrong. You don't glass or walk. YOU DRIVE! Drive your AMC Gremlin up and down the paved roads until you see something that looks like a deer, then roll down the window and start throwing lead downrange. You need 2 people to hunt this way, one to work the gas pedel and the gun, the other to hold the steering wheel and the Jose Quervo.

The hunt is for 35A & 35B. You can hunt both. Tommy, shoot me an email and I'll tell ya what I know about it. It's a VERY good tag. Some whoppers come out of there every year. azhunter@desertbull.com

FYI: The term "Wally" has been officially changed to "Taulman" Examples - "I just stepped in a big pile of steaming Taulman." "Dang, did you Taulman yourself?" "Who Taulmaned in the tent?" "Shut up, or I'll kick you in the Taulmans." "Taulman happens" "Don't be a Taulman" and "Honey, the baby's daiper is full of Taulman."

I like the 3DTopo Quads from Delorme. It's the only one that comes on a single DVD. All the others you have to swap out the CD everytime you want to look at a different area.

Last years rut was unbelievable. Never heard anything like it before. Bulls were screaming well into the morning and starting backup again well before dark. It's not like that most years. You'll usually hear them going at it strong after dark and right before dawn. They start winding down about an hour after shooting light.

I was going to guess unit 23, above Roosevelt Lake. But then you said there was a double wide trailer nearby, so I change my guess to Gila Bend.

Nick, You should not have told anyone about the Coues in unit 37B. That's supposed to be a secret!! Nice buck! -
The Optura I bought is 16X zoom. I am purchasing a screw on lens that will double it also. I really debated over the Canons too, because of the lowlight thing. Then I started digging into it a little bit and found out that when those "professionals" started talking lowlight, they were talking indoors with maybe one light in the roomand sometimes only a few candles. You know, the artzy fartzy crowd. Look at the Panasonic GS15. It is 24X and faily inexpensive. Panasonic also makes GS70, GS120, and GS200 3 ccd cams for under $1,000. I've seen the GS70 for as low as $500. But they only have 10X zoom.

TRAIL CAMERAS ARE ILLEGAL!!!!
DesertBull replied to TREESTANDMAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Ask him to show you his "I'm being an a-hole" permit. -
I've never had much luck with 150 grains of powder with the PowerBelts. Seems they like a around 90-110 grains max. I think it just turns that flimsly little plastic base on the bullets into goo. If it were me, I'd just find a lite weight bullet for deer and heavier bullet for elk. Shoot the heck out of both all summer. You can always adjust your sites after the first hunt. Look at the DeadCenter bullets from Precison Rifle. Don's Sporting Goods in Scottsdale carries them.

AZGFD IS ASKING FOR SUGGESTIONS
DesertBull replied to KGAINES's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The Supreme Court of the US has already ruled in the ranchers favor in regards to the blocking of public land. They even said you cannot legally cross a section corner. This is what I sent: 1. Make the address on the tag be the mailing address. In other words, USO cannot apply for a hunter in New York and have the tag mailed to New Mexico. The tag must go directly to the tag holder. 2. Make the sale of horns, hides, ivories, etc illegal. 3. Raise the price on NR outfitters icense fees through the roof. 4. Make the outfitter be present at all camps at least once every 3 days to check on the welfare of his clients. Not the guide, the outfitter that carries the special use permit and the insurance. This is not a suggestion, but a comment. How can the plaintiffs declare that they are being shut out of the antler market when they can come here and pick up sheds all year long without any kind of permit or be limited to only one bull per year? Same with the hides and ivories. Cow elk have both and there are no tag restrictions on them. Guides and outfitters can guide for deer below the Co River and cow elk too. -
As soon as I got it, I replied "Why Arizona? Why not other states?" He immedialty replied to me, "Don't worry, it's coming to all 9th circuit states." Next year will be a free for all. Next up is landowner tags, just wait and see.

You mean "Do unto others BEFORE they do unto you?"
-
I don't blame NR's. They just want to hunt like we do. I blame the people that want to get rich off of it at the expensive of sound wildlife management. I have and will continue to help anyone that asks.

Crooked Horn Email: cho@csurfer.net

I received a response from Crooked Horn. Basically telling me screw myself, in a nice polite way. That's ok, I like my BadLands and Kelty packs better anyways.
-
I received that email as well.

Thanks Josh. I'll check it out. I don't mind steep hiking, but I hate hacking through the oak brush and manzanita. The west side ofthe wilderness areas look a little tamer. Ever see any bears around Pine Mountain or Turret Peak?

Happy Valley has been getting hammered by hunters for the past 2-3 years. I used to go down there on opening morning and see 1-2 other hunters the whole day. Now it is a zoo. I think all the people that used to hunt up high, moved down there after all the fires. Try the mountains to the east of Turkey Creek campground. Most people follow one of the trails toward the park boundry, but if you head east instead, you'll have less people. Be careful, lot's of muleys in there too. Jeff
